Calling it a b grade movie would be generous unless you grew up in that time. If you were born in the 80s or later it doesn't hold up very well. It is 80s cheese from start to finish.

If you go in expecting the cheese, it isn't so bad. I saw it for the first time a year ago or so and I quite liked it.

In any case, better watch it before the new Tron REALLY makes it look dated.

I was born in '91 and I saw Tron for the first time about 3 years ago and I really liked it. That said, I knew it was going to be really cheesy, so if you accept that you'll probably enjoy it.

I saw it when I was about six or seven (~1998) along with War Games and some scenes from both movies just stuck in my head. I kept dreaming about them and eventually enrolled in computer/electronics courses when I was 10. I didn't know what they're even called until late high school, but these two movies are the sole reasons I'm now studying IT.

I watched it last year and liked it. I'd prefer a reboot movie.

Yeah, I'd say give it a shot, but be aware that it is definitely dated, and hasn't aged well. If you know that going in, it can still be fun. Probably will make the new Tron movie more interesting knowing the "back-story" as it were.

"Reboot" was a total "tron" ripoff.
