Does the new Coen Brothers film have enough True Grit to be one of the best movies of the year?

For the today in rad history, I'm pretty sure Mac OS X was the first version based on Unix. OS X 10.5 was certainly the first version to actually be a Unix by specification.

Very glad to see them get so excited for a movie again. It's been a while since I've seen them that excited. Plus, I love the Cohen Brothers as well. Even in this driving blizzard, I am planning on making the 2 hour drive to see this movie in a decent theatre.

Their review got me excited about seeing this movie. I love westerns and the Coen brothers. It's a win-win.

Yeah, I remember all the talk about taking the big step up from OS 9 to OS X because it was a big change.

I'm so glad the guys didn't just go straight for the word 'remake'.

It's not a remake. If the John Wayne movie had never even been made the Coens would have still made the exact same movie they did based on the book.

You'd be amazed at how many prominent film news sites just don't seem to get that.

I really liked the movie, but I felt nothing inside of my soul while watching it. So I take that to mean it was technically very well done, and very well acted, and all that, but it just didn't connect to me emotionally the way that The Fighter, Black Swan, and The King's Speech did, just mentioning movies that came out in the preceeding week or two.

I saw it on Friday. It met my expectations, which are always high for a Coen brothers' movie. I found it to be a superb example of genre filmmaking, but I didn't think it transcended the genre. I.e., it's a great Western, but it's not a great movie. Still, it's one of the better movies of the year though. Fantastic performances all around and gorgeous cinematography.

The movie was good till the ending... it was joyless and static.

disappointed. It's really the only word I can use to describe this movie. I had to choose between true grit and black swan and because of the TRS award I chose true grit. I had to apologize to the lady friend I dragged to see the movie. I was expecting an epic movie. I only really go to the theater when there is a theater worthy movie happening. TRON, Avatar, The last air bender, any comic adaptation. Movies like this are great on netflix at home but they are in no way worth sitting in a theater for.

Darth ed said it best if I'm interpreting his post correctly. It's a good western. Key word being, western. If you're not into westerns this will be just another movie to you.

Again I say, good movie, Just not raddest movie of the year material.
