Hey. I was just talking comics with one of my screenwriting professors today, and I thought it might be interesting to raise a topic here:
What arcs do you think would make the best screen adaptations? For some of the bigger super hero characters, origin stories are an obvious starting point. But if you didn't have to concern yourself with introducing the character to the audience for the first time, what kind of movie would you make? This isn't just a question of favorite character or favorite arcs; what stories do you think would translate well as a two hour movie? A television mini-series? an on-going series? If you want to play big-time producer, who would you sign on to write or direct? |

How 'bout the Escapists mini? Frank Darabont? George Hickenlooper?
What Captain America arc would I do?... probably the one when he quit being Cap rather than work for the government (hmmm) and the government replaced him. As I recall, it ended with Ronald Reagan turning into a snake monster. |

I would love to see the Wolverine arc that Steve Skroce did the art on. I think it was issues #151-154. That would make a killer movie. It's nothing but hacking through hitmen and ninjas in Japan over a person feud. He kills dozens of people as bullets richocet off his head.
It's from the same artist that did the storyboards for the Matrix movies. You can tell. |

The Guardian Devil arc from volume 2 of Daredevil would be great. Also, the introduction of the Hell Fire club from the early 100's of Uncanny X-Men would be a lot of fun.

I second will_lund's choice of Skorce on Wolverine #151-154 and Fred's Wolverine mini-series by Claremont and Miller. Both of these stories are action-packed, and would visually be exciting to watch.

X-men: Days of the Future Past. LIke a full out movie, not just Danger Room scenes.
