Trust Jeff on this one.... Dan pulled a 2012.

Rango is the best movie I've seen in nearly two months. I loved the existential theme and the high adventure execution. Definitely not intended for kids, which is what I liked the most. It was hilarious. The voice cast is one of the best casts ever assembled for an animated movie. Recommended if you like Chinatown, the Man with No Name trilogy, and the first half of Pirates of Caribbean 3.

even Michael Bay said Transformers 2 sucked

Michael Bay in an interview with Empire Magazine said - "We made some mistakes. The real fault with Transformers 2 is that it ran into a mystical world. When I look back at it, that was crap. The writers' strike was coming hard and fast. It was just terrible to do a movie where you've got to have a story in three weeks.I was prepping a movie for months where I only had 14 pages of some idea of what the movie was. It's a BS way to make a movie, do you know what I'm saying?"

Shia LaBeouf shared the same sentiments when he said - "We got lost. We tried to get bigger. It's what happens to sequels. It's like, how do you top the first one? You've got to go bigger. Mike went so big that it became too big, and I think you lost the anchor of the movie. You lost a bit of the relationships. Unless you have those relationships, then the movie doesn't matter. Then it's just a bunch of robots fighting each other."

Totally agree with Jeff.

Rango is something unique, and the best film I've seen in awhile.

Who was it made for? People who like well told stories. Rango may have a lot of "adult" themes, and isn't tailor made for kids, but that's a good thing. It's OK if something goes over a kid's head, or challenges their perceptions. A good parent would use the opportunity to help their kid learn something, but chances are your kid will just have a good time. It won't be until years later when they see it again that they'll think "Holy crap! I didn't get that when I was a kid!"

One of the things they won't get is the rich film history woven in to this movie. Sergio Leone, Chinatown, Blazing Saddles, Cat Ballou and a sprinkle of Hunter S. Thompson. I am very surprised none of the hosts mentioned any of this, it's one of the best aspects of the film.

I think Verbinski and ILM just put everyone on notice.

This looks like a steaming pile of shit, but everyone online is saying it was pretty good or very good so I'm going to have to go see it. I hate not having the conviction to not trust in my own opinion anymore.

I was wrong. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit watching it today, although I didn't find it very funny or emotional, I still had a good time seeing it. The animation was absolutely amazing, and the voicework was quite good throughout. The plot was very simplistic but that doesn't really matter because it was fun and the action was very good.

But the trailers before it, oh my god I wanted to kill myself. If I was a kid I'd probably turn into an anti-Western terrorist seeing the total crap they're peddling. Rio, Puss in Boots, Kung Fu Panda 2. Unspeakably awful looking so I won't say more.
