Angry Weekly New Releases

I was cool and happy about the switch to combine HD Nation and Tekzilla. It increased the quality of the consumed info. But on todays episode you listed the Main Bluray releases and then said :CHECK THE SHOW NOTES FOR THE OTHER RELESES" WTF. Some of use just listen to the show and thats it. I check the website maybe 1-2 a month to see if thier are any new show being produced. DON'T SKIP A VITAL PART OF THE INFO HD NATION BY IT SELF BROUGHT US WEEK TO WEEK VIA THE SHOW. NEVER BEFORE WHEN THE SHOWS WERE TWO DIFFRENT SHOW DID YOU GUYS EVER DO THE "CHECK THE SHOW NOTE" CRAP. Might as well just tell the people where you get the info and just send us to thier web site. Just plain lazy broadcasting.

calm down dude. Isnt it obivious that bluray is now mainstream and is taking too long to read them all out?

I'm sure you could use www.feedmyinbox.com/ + http://feeds.movieweb.com/movieweb_hdthisweek to get them as a daily email

I'm with the original poster. Since combining with Tekzilla the show has halved in length and now the main reason for listening to long meandering wibble about different obscure hardware questions only really of interest to the original poster has gone, with the dramatic shortening of the main reason for viewing each week.

There's a world of difference between "too many titles released this week" and shrinking the number mentioned down from 10-15 to 3 or 4.

Some months back I asked if the show could provide information on whether a disc was region-locked or not for its many international viewers, and received an enthusiastic response back. But nothing happened, and it just seems like the show really can't be bothered any more. The fact that you've had to link to external web sites instead of the "show notes" promoted (but with no real details of where to find them) says it all really.

The releases listed are US-specific, and are therefore usually Region A. It would simply take WAY too long to list the releases for Region A, then a list for Region B, then for Region C. There would be a ton of repeats, plus that info isn't always available ahead of time. As to whether it's just locked for Region A, that info also isn't always available ahead of time either, but if it is, you're right: it's a good idea and we can start to mention it.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. The show notes are available at each episode's page. We currently "list" them via Amazon's widget, but all the info is available without leaving our website, and thought this a better solution than a plain text list of titles because you can see cover art, pricing info, etc. If you'd prefer a different method, we're open to suggestions.

I disagree with your assessment that most releases are Region A. Most are "Regions A, B and C" in my experience, which makes the importance of highlighting the ones that really are Region Locked (anything from Criterion!) very clear for your international viewers.

As for not understanding my point about the show notes, it was in response to the first reply to the original poster at the top of this thread which gave external links. Many of your listeners simply subscribe via iTunes and may not know where your home page and the show notes are. Rather ironically I found this forum (whiich is not what I was really looking for) by keying in "HD Nation show notes" to try and locate the show notes via Bing!

Cheers,
Ian

Ah, ok, HD Nation's homepage is http://revision3.com/hdnation or http://hdnation.tv, and Tekzilla is http://revision3.com/tekzilla or http://tekzilla.com. Just click on the episode you're looking for, and the show notes are below the video.

You only featured part of the new release list again. If this is done again next week i will be removing Tekzilla/HD Nation off my weekly ipod capture software.

I'm afraid this is going to be standard from now on. We don't find it a good use of our show time to simply recite a list of titles that you can find anywhere online. We'll continue to feature ~3 per week, but if you want a list of all the new releases, you can check our show notes, High Def Disc News, High Def Digest, or Amazon (scroll to "Browse Blu-ray Disc Releases by Week")

Shame. That was one of my favorite bits in the show.
