Default Episode 128: Anonymous vs. Westboro Baptist [Discussion]

Penn Rocks :-)

It is so nice to see what I expected to be a (fair) point by point argument against the Westboro Baptist beliefs turn out to be a rights argument.

We all know why we don't like them, so repeating what everyone else is saying really doesn't add anything to the discussion.

Penn's arguments would add to our insight into Penn, but wouldn't add to our knowledge of the situation.

Instead, I was rather impressed at Penn's noting that it is their constitutional right to say what they please. In fact, this freedom allows us to better understand their position because it isn't hidden behind legal niceties, but is free to be expressed.

It is the freedom of expression that informs us of the truth. By listening to the claims of any person or group, and comparing them to reality, we are able to determine the truth.
