Default Holy ****, did walking dead just go day and date digital?

I just read The Walking Dead #77 on my lolpad - it just came out last week, right?

They actually put up like 7 new scans today, with #77 bringing them up to date. I'm guessing #78 will be a same-day release? How come nobody's talking about this?

Looking at the rate they've been scanning and where they're up to, Invincible and Chew will be going day-and-date very soon. Are there any books I've missed that are on the cusp like this? I think Stuff Of Legend is being released digitally at more or less the same time as print as well, but it's so sporadic I can't really place the timings.

I'd been using comixology mostly for Generation Lost and not-quite-current books I'd never read like Geurillas, Birds Of Prey and JLA, but being able to actively get my Image fix first thing on a Wednesday morning is pretty cool.

Plus, you know, £1.79 for brand new issues is a glorious price-point.

I'm not sure how many on this board actually read comics digitally. That might be why nobody has been discussing it. While I'm a big Kindle lover and read plenty of e-books, I just have no desire to switch to digital for my comics. I totally get why other people would want to, and if it's your thing, I think it's great you can get some titles on the day they are released. I don't think digital readers should have to wait. It should be available to you as soon as it's available to me. Just not my thing.

Hah, and Josh posted it on the news site this afternoon~

I find it strange that people who would sign up for a forum on the internet wouldn't mostly be into reading digital.

That said, you basically have to have an iPad at this point - reading on a laptop or desktop display is nowhere near as... immediate? Is that the right term? And the 3.5" iPod screen is too small for anything but the guided view, which doesn't always make for a great experience.

Hopefully comixology will branch out with an android app for the incoming deluge of cheap reading slates that everyone's predicting.

I signed up for a forum on the internet for the interaction with other comics fans. It's a way to discuss something i love with other people who love it. It has nothing to do with my reading or not reading things digitally.

I think it all has to do with why I would read it digitally as opposed to in a physical form. If I'm going to read a 1000 page hardcover novel, it is far more comfortable to read it on my Kindle than lug around this huge, heavy book. When it comes to comics, I like seeing the artwork on the printed page. If i had an iPad, I would probably get certain comics in digital form. But the collector in me wants the individual issues in physical form, not as a file on my computer. Books I had only a casual interest in, I would probably check out on a digital form.

Actually, I DO have one of those DVD-roms that marvel put out a few years back with complete runs of a title. it has every issue (up to that point) of Fantastic Four, as well as Silver Surfer. it's something like 700+ comics on my computer. While the quality is excellent, and it's interesting from a historical standpoint as they've scanned the entire comics, ads and all (as opposed to trades, which just have the comic content), I find it's just not as enjoyable. In order to have the text at a big enough size to read comfortably, i can't fit the entire 2 pages on the screen. It becomes a bit of a hassle, scrolling up and down to read the page so it's side by side with the page it's supposed to be next to (in the event of 2 page spreads and the like). it's certainly a nice resource to have, and i do enjoy it, but I'd just rather have the actual comics.

I agree 100% with this statement. Having worked at Graphic.ly I know lots of people on the internet that are against Digital Comics and they are very open about it on the Internet.

I'm not against digital comics at all. I completely understand why somebody else would want to read them and I'm thrilled they are getting the option to do so. They just aren't really for me. But anything that has more people reading comics is great in my book.

I think it's great...being an ipad user, I've been able to save a buck by buying certain things online that I would never have bought in either trade or issue because of $.

GIJoe Cobra is a primary example...and if it came out day and date...I would probably buy it too.

Walking Dead I read in hardcovers and they look good on the shelf...so I'll probably keep that going...but going digital is going to be a good thing with the show coming out...that would keep people buying comics that might not have before and have them stick to it instead of hitting wall when they reach that issue that hasnt been released on line yet.

I'm seeing a lot of buzz around the new Ultimate Thor #1 being available through comixology this week... but I'm not seeing it. Anyone else?

I may once again read this monthly if they lower the digital price. Otherwise, I'll keep getting it in trade.
