Wedding help! Use camcorder as webcam

My sister is going to celebrate her wedding on the 22nd August, she's marrying a nice British guy but the event will be in Italy. Since the groom's Grandma cannot travel, they would like to stream the celebration to her computer.

I guess the iSight from our MacBook Pro (late 2009) is not good enough for that, is it possible to use an HD camcorder for the job, so we can record at the same time? Which models would you reccommend and what kind of software do we need?

Would it be possible to do all this with my father's camera (Canon Powershot SX1 IS - it records full HD video) or my sis' old camcorder (Canon MD160 - http://www.canon.co.uk/for_home/prod....asp?specs=1)?

To stream we thought about using Skype, but maybe an idea is to open a channel on Ustream (can anybody suggest similar better services?) so more people (like my aunt who cannot travel as well) can watch the celebration too and since we'll have to rely on 3G connection that may be a better solution in case of connection failure, right?

Finally: can i setup a LAN just between the MBP and my iPod Touch? (the town hall seems not having a wifi)
I'll have to fade-in/out the music and the Apple Remote App would allow me not to skip to the wrong track as it could happen with the Apple Remote device (plus using it would have that "blip" feedback for volume adjustments and I guess we cannot rely on FrontRow and be sure the streaming is doing all good in the background)
