Just needed to rant. A client booked me into a decent hotel while I was on the road for them and they had a nice LG LCD TV in the room, but it was connected to analog cable and set to show everything 16x9.
I wonder how many people turn on the TV and think "WOW, look at the great picture" and don't realize they do not have HD on that TV?? The last two hotels I have been in have had HD service and the TVs have been set to show the content in whatever aspect ratio the source video is. |

I have the same pet-peeve! For years, most hotel rooms w/HDTV's were showing SD content on them (usually stretched to fill the screen). Not long ago, I was at a Samsung-owned hotel, that had Samsung HDTV's in every room...no HD video service at the hotel even though over-the-air HD was available
![]() Things are getting better. I recently stayed at a nice business-class hotel that had the HDTV's configured with a reasonable picture mode and as-is scaling for the SD and HD channels. |
