Hi guys. I have a problem.
After installing XP Mode, under Windows 7, if I want to install a program, where does the program actually installs itself? My question rises after I've installed a 7 GB program under XP Mode and. under windows 7, I've deleted the XP Mode file. Now, my boot partition C:\ is still full. So, can anyone help me ?

It's been a while since I used Virtual PC, XP mode from what I saw is Virtual PC & XP combine in 1 install. Try looking in 'Documents' folder.

Well....it was a shot in the dark since I barely got a look at XP mode. I still use XP & I know that the files went to the Documents folder when using virtualization software.
I did brief digging because I was curious myself how Win 7 handles the data. Might upgrade or wait til 8 comes out. Maybe this link will help. There are locations mentioned & file extensions you can search for. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...hine-copy.html |

Did you delete the WindowsXP.vhd file?
Aside from the temp files, everything should be kept in the virtual hard drive for the virtual OS. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/vir...t/default.aspx http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...7-bba28e09a323 Also, you should make sure data is deleted and not just the reference to that data. And if you are using a SSD then you may need to make sure TRIM is working or use a drive wipe utility to make sure the data is cleared to reclaim drive capacity. |

XP Mode posts to whatever folder you designate during install, however the default is "C:\Users\Your_Username\Virtual Machines ". I personally use a slave drive for many reasons.

Thank you all for the responses. I've found the actual folder and deleted all the files in that folder. And yes, my problem was fixed. I have now more free space on my partition.
