Will osx 10.5 or later install and run without using the internet? For example, you want a stand alone machine where internet is not available?

Every version of Mac OS will run fine without internet access, just like Windows, Linux and every other OS.
Only 10.7 has an internet-based install, but there are ways to create your own install DVD or flash drive for an offline install. Google "10.7 offline install" and you'll find plenty of instructions. |

Last time I installed MSWindows if you did not get an internet validation,, you had to call MS or the system would lock you out after a certain amount of time. I know people with vista who had that problem. The only reason I asked that question was to make sure I had it right about the setup when people asked me. We have no plans to install any Apple os in the near future.I have installed older versions of os/x without the internet. Do not plan to install any MS products either in the near future.
