I bought a DVI cable with a VGA converter. Everything connects with no problem, and my Macbook detects the TV and it shows up, I can change the resolution on the TV on my computer, only when I switch to the PC input on my TV, I just get a black screen.
I have seen stuff about overrun or something, I don't have that option, I really just want this to work. Is there something I am overlooking in the set up?

Does the sharp not have an hdmi jack? If it does, I would highly recommend a dvi/hdmi cable. I run my macbookpro into my 32inch Samsung HDTV...here is what you need to do.
Make sure all cables are connected correctly. Go to your system preferences, display, and detect your display if it doesn't do it automatically. The color profile should change over to sharp. Mine is set to samsung. either way. There will be activity with your tv. When you switch to the right input channel on your tv, there should be a picture...if not...you can put your mac to sleep, and wake it up while it is still close with your front row remote, that should trigger the display and use it while the lid is shut. Let me know how it goes. |

I've verified on the sharp website that several Aquos models have this capability.

Sorry I've been away from the thread. And no problem.
I have external speakers and a sub at my editing bay (where I use my tv) so when I'm back at my desk I just hook them into my macbookpro. You can get some easily under 50 dollars. There are nice ones between 50-150. Great sound. Also. The sound could be ran through your tv by using rca jacks. Not the video, but the audio ones. It would need to be an rca to 1/4inch. (headphone) jack. You would hook it in just like a game system basically. This way would be really nice if you had a surround sound hooked to your tv's audio out as well. |

Thank you to everyone.
I got this working finally, I went to radio shack and picked up a left/right to audio jack cable, and set the sound to external source on the TV, and now the audio works perfect too. Radzack, I will try the speaker thing too, that sounds like it would be good too. I am very happy that I can now watch all of my favorite Rev3 shows in 42 inch glory!

Are you using an HDMI cable?
Make sure the Aquos input is set to the appropriate port you have it plugged in to. Go to System Preferences in OSX and let the monitor be detected.
