The fact it's filmed in 3D is pretty exciting . . . -

I saw the trailer for it in cinemas today in 3D, the 3d looks great. Everything else looks like more of LotR, which means it should be fantastic. My only reservation is that it's a 2-parter, but there's no way I'm not going to see part 1 as soon as humanly possible.

I'm somewhat of a dwarf enthusiast. In every fantasy videogame I play, if there's an option to be a dwarf, I'm gonna be a dwarf.
And I must say that I love how all of the dwarves have a unique look, and they're not just 12 Gimli clones. I don't understand the need for it to be split up though. Isn't the Hobbit shorter than any of the individual LotR books? |

I totally agree with this. There's no reason to make it two 3+ hour movies, especially when I can (and have) read the source book in less time than that.

I can't wait to see this. This will be my daughter's first movie. She's no stranger to seeing live ballets, but this will be her first movie. One of our dogs is named Luthien (one of Elrond's ancestors, look up Beren and Luthien), and we cut our wedding cake with a life-size replica of Anduril, Aragon's old sword, Narsil, after it was reforged. So yeah, this will be the first movie. I've been geeking out for a while.

Apparently work blocks the image sites...will have to check from home if I remember.
I still don't like the 2 movie idea...but I guess it'll depend on what else is included and how it's handled. I wonder if there'll be 4 hours "extended versions" like the first one.

When I saw the trailer I was in heaven. I think was most impressed me was the feel of it because of the set design. After so many years they were still able to make it look the same. All I could think of was that I felt at home while watching the trailer.
