Hello,
I am new to the forum but I recently released my new operating system for HTPCs available
http://sourceforge.net/projects/webbhtpc/
Now I have put XBMC installed by default as well as firefox and I was wondering what you guys use for content on your linux box?
Currently the most straightforard way for content is google play and Amazon Instant video for premium video content. The only way to populate XBMC with video is to rip your own movies but I hit a wall there as it is illegal to distribute anything that breaks encryption according to the DMCA. I had hoped that Boxee would pave the way but they are abandoning the PC entirely. I also get content from my mythtv backend but explaining how to set that up is not a walk in the park.
Linux is still waiting on official netflix support but there are wine hacks. The lack of cablecard is also a big hit. I am always looking for feedback and improvements but I often wonder if the way I use this operating system is different from my users. I have still yet to find a video service that can compare to the quality of a ripped blu-ray but at least music is free from the clutches of DRM now.
