I really miss Dan's movie reviews, and really wish he could reconsider. Out of the three guys, his opinion on movies was the most interesting and insightful (no disrespect to the other guys). My wife was also super disappointed to learn he won't give his thoughts anymore. I could understand him and TRS as a whole not reviewing his own work, but.. it's not the same with him trying to get a few words in here and there to "participate" without really participating. |

Same here. I usually side with Dan and having him on-screen but not contributing is rather odd. Obviously he's going through a huge career change and maybe he's just testing the waters and being careful or maybe there's something specifically in a contract he signed (although that would be incredibly strange). Personally, if he's going to stop reviewing story, I'd like to see him review the technical aspects of the filmmaking and the soundtrack. Get a little geeky on us talking about an impossible crane shot with an IMAX camera or effective casting choices. Given that he's a director there are surely many more invaluable insights he could give to each film production as a whole.

Satori, I must admit I'm not a terribly active member on the forums, was this topic discussed in another thread? Was there a response from Dan or the TRS team?
I did a quick search to find this thread the first time and thought I'd post my comments to it instead of opening a new thread simply because my thoughts weren't about Dan's decision at the time, but rather the fact that he is doing reviews (effectively) through the Vs game. And apparently I wasn't alone in this line of thinking. Personally, I completely agree with the folks that believe there's great value in Dan's reviews and I had always looked forward to them. Even in this week's Avenger's reviews he was almost literally using Jeff/Alex to express his own overflowing emotions...which I think is great, he should have those feelings. I've listened to plenty of director's commentaries where they refer to things done or not done by another director or in another movie. So if this topic is too old or my thread of questioning isn't relevant, bury this sucker! ![]() |

It was buried, and then you posted in it 9 days after satori's post.

Checking a forum on a daily basis isn't high priority for a lot of us so don't scold people for replying a bit late. Besides that, it's still an ongoing issue that's never been addressed.

I think they should just have Mikey fill in for Dan or get a guest host for movie reviews. I don't think movie studios care what an internet show says about their movies (no offense! LOL), but I'm not in the industry so what do I know.
I do find it interesting that Jeff & Alex, who are actors, continue to give their opinions. Aren't they afraid of losing work because of their reviews? Or are they not as active in the movie industry as Dan is? I miss Dan's opinion, but I do respect his decision and the show. The segment is just not as good any more, imho.

I do miss his insight into things...and would much rather he and Mike swapped for the reviews so there were 3 opinions rather than either just 2 or 2 and a 'moderator'.
