Anyone else playing this? I have only been able to squeeze in about 30 min so far. Seems to be a large amount of user blow-back on metacritic right now about DRM and lack of character customization. I did not play D2 so I can't relate to a lot of the criticisms I am seeing. Just curious if any of you guys that are playing are also mad.

I'm not mad at all. The character customization is actually way way deeper than it was in Diablo 2 and DRM is a problem with pretty much every game these days, and Blizzard still managed to do a much better job with it than most recent games. I downloaded the game client on Sunday, installed the game on Monday, and was ready to play the second servers went online.
The gameplay is fantastic, capturing the heart of what made Diablo 2 so much fun but updating it with new envionments, spells, characters, enemies, weapons, items (every item is represented visually on your hero), etc. The graphics aren't super high end but it has a very cool style and really fun spell effects, not to mention ridiculously good sound that makes killing baddies so much fun. I played through the first 2 acts with my buddy from 430am (couldn't get into the servers until then) until 1pm and we're taking a little break before getting back into it. I clicked my mouse 1 button over 35,000 times and killed over 2,500 baddies! I do have some concerns about how the game will handle in the later stages because it might not be easy to just jump in and play with random people, but I'm easily going to get a couple hundred hours into the game even if I just play by myself or with my buddy, and that more than justifies the cost in my mind.

Yeah I was a little suspicious of the negative comments. Wanted to chalk it up to typical internet fanboy rage. I played the beta and loved it and enjoyed the brief part I got to play so far of release.

I'll be getting it after checks clear begining of next month as I had some "every 3 months" bills to pay. I hope I get my partition problem solved by then..
I've used Partition Magic and also tried the Linux based GParted liveboot cd.. Here's the dealio... I have a 150G Master hard drive split into 2 partitions... 1st is (20G) OS and program files.. 2nd is all my saved documents, files, music, vid etc... I just got a 500G HD (which is about 450G after fornatting).. I'd like to partition the 450 drive to be a 100G OS/Program files and a 2nd 350G data drive.. Both programs re-create the 20G partition.... instead of transferring the 20G info to the 100G partition. HELP!... I need to Diablo!!!! ... I need to expand this 20G OS harddrive partition |

I just played through the first few quests with a friend and loved it. Playing it with a friend makes a huge difference. I am typically a solo player, ignoring the multiplayer portions of most games but I enjoyed Diablo 2 more with friends and the same seems to be holding true with Diablo 3. I did get dropped from the server once but was able to log right back in and rejoin my friend's game.
The game looks great, sounds great, plays great. No complaints here!

My current computer (Early 08 13" Macbook) isn't up to the task, but if rumors of the new MBP coming out next month are true, then D3 will be loaded up pretty soon after unboxing.
I loved D1 and D2 ... and can't wait to get back to Sanctuary.

My mid 2008 iMac is hitting the bare minimum for the graphics card but I'm pretty pleased with how well its running. I'm not looking forward to seeing it running on an up-to-date gaming pc because I'm sure it'll taint my perspective, but for the moment I'm pretty happy.
Found a bunch of copies of the collector's edition at my local Fry's this morning. Blizzard does those special editions better than most. I'm pretty happy with it. Anyone else pick up the collector's edition? |

Amazing.
The barbarian is a fun simulator. The only thing is, I played for just 4 hours and when I got up I have never been more sore or exhausted from playing a videogame. My whole body was sore. Which is weird because I've played games for waaaay longer than that. I think it's because: 1. In those four hours I never used my left hand. The only time I used it when I was typing to people. 2. It's constant, there is like no downtime. Before getting the game I was worried about the story. Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal are all dead. But if what I think is happening with the story is actually happening, I shouldn't have been worried about the villain. |

I know what you mean about the soreness. I'm used to it from playing so much Diablo 2, but I still had to wrap up my wrist because my desk was doing something awful to my wrist and my elbows are sore because my armrests aren't padded.
