DWTS wasnt "officially" reviewed by the trio (I'm sure $ would need to change hands for Alex to have to watch it)... but it has been mentioned numerous times by Dan in"onMyRadar" and tv show segments... that he didnt watch one thing or another because DWTS was on, etc...

I'm only familiar w/ Dreyfus from Seinfeld.. and the most memorable thing from that show was her dancing.. LOL..
I wont be watching "Veep".

And once again... cheers to Mike for great editting

I don't know what the heck you guys are talking about. I've never even seen an episode of Dancing with the Stars.

I have mentioned in passing, maybe 3 years ago, loving the show So You Think You Can Dance. I don't think i've ever brought it up in an On My Radar-- not that there would be ANYTHING wrong with doing so.

And I can't quite understand anyone seeing any fault in reviewing a brand new HBO show from the writers of In the Loop and Four Lions. HBO has a damn good track record of making "Rad" TV shows.

This thread contains some of the strangest criticisms we've ever recieved.

Confused,
dan

Dancing with the stars is a tragedy of television. So You Think You Can Dance is pretty spectacular though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyG8Ex7aAng THAT is amazing and if you disagree you are dead inside.

That's a relief. Nothing better than shock being righteously dissipated.

I remember that, in a discussion of guilty pleasures.

Starring Julia Louis Dreyfuss - enough said. Something that looks horrible on the surface and hasn't had a chance to establish itself, meanwhile a plethora of better properties exist prior, some of which you guys complain about not having the time to review, things that the masses ask for, things the masses are clearly responding to, are being ignored,...... you can't see any fault in that ? If I had more money than you, I'd put it down saying, "I bet that won't be a fan favorite".

Not really, seems it's the most common one. I'd say, "I don't like his t-shirt", or "I don't like his hair", or "the show is too long", are stranger criticisms.

Nice of you to visit the boards to let us know.

It doesn't really matter what I think though, you guys do and will continue to review whatever you want and have every right to do so. It wouldn't be so shocking if I was regularly accustomed to the melting pot of choices, but I'm not currently, so it was a "WTF?!!" moment for me.

Wish you'd told me that earlier.

I always thought the guys' M.O, was just to review cool, clever or geeky things they are interested in. Veep fits this perfectly. Also, if you haven't seen The Thick of It (or Veep) and are criticizing the guy's decision to talk about Veep then you need to take a good, hard look at yourself. The Thick of It was a great show.

The fuck it does. Clever, maybe, but not really, cool or geeky, hell to the fuck no.

If I like steak I must like cow tongue too ? One is not related to the other. Come on Johnnysix, I got more respect for you than that.

Writers are about 3 or 4 ppl down the list that can influence a project. I don't want to hear Justin Timberlake do Pearl Jam's Alive, or members of The Jersey Shore do David Mamet, or Larry The Cable Guy do Shakespeare. Julia Louis Dreyfuss is one-note and one trick and has her thumb on the pulse about as well as Uwe Boll does. Ain't gonna matter who writes/produces/directs/supporting cast.

Hey Dan, did you know Danny Boyle is directing the opening of the Olympics this summer ? I imagine you already knew that.

Once again, I'm sorry Wil, I do agree, Mike's montages are hilarious. And sorry to Dan if he takes this personally, who knows where I live and can come wrap a baseball bat around my head if he wishes. I'm not trying to offend the boys, but can't really make it seem any other way on a message board.

It satisfies one of those criteria

Thanks. I get what you're saying and agree 100%. What I was saying is that I can understand their willingness to give it a go. If I like steak, I might like cow tongue? No? Yeah, you're right, cow tongue sounds horrible. Why did you have to come at me with the whole cow tongue thing? Maybe silverside? My arguement, though poorly stated, boils down to "watch The Thick of It".

Once again, you hit my right in the guts with those. I am taking a bath here. I do believe Television is a writers medium though. Way more than movies, or even dare I say it, music. There's a reason people remember the names David Chase, Matthew Weiner, Terrance Winter (hey, what's with all the Sopranos guys?), Aaron Sorkin and Damon Lindelof. Whilst fewer know Tim van Patten, Thomas Schlamme or Jack Bender.

I don't love the show (Veep), but I think there's been more egregious offenders over the episodes. United States of Tara? John Adams?
