Well, I didn't know about that. I like the way Google Video has the ability to download the file for PSP/iPod/PC. That is pretty much AWESOME.

My guess is they will develop some new feature or do something stupid like charging or too many advertisements, that will fail, and eventually something new and exciting will come to take its place.

If they play it smart, they could be around for a long time. I think things like having high-quality content from real production companies would be a good step. Playing sitcoms or other shows from TV with extra advertisements but still free for the public(or for free registration - more ads) would be amazing.

They need to put ads at the beginning and ending of their videos if they want to make some money.

Advertisers will pay big money if their video is going to be seen by 1 million targeted people.

Also there are many other video sites other than Youtube. Google Video, Peekvid, DailyMotion, Break, and many many more. If Youtube went it wouldn't be such a big deal. I just like how well Youtube handles the videos compared to the other sites.

During an afternoon PC Forum discussion about "me media," Chad Hurley, CEO of YouTube, talked about what’s going the popular video sharing site, which he said is now serving 30 million videos a day and uploading 30,000 files a day. Hurley said that the site has about 5 million unique users per day. Nielsen/NetRatings clocked YouTube at 9 million unique users in February.

YouTube is going...down the tube?

There really is the problem if copyrighted content being on YouTube. If there was no potential way to make money, this might slide. But if they can make money, it won't be enough to simply have a ToS stating that users agree not to post cc. It will be ignored. At the same time, enforcing it would prove to be a huge challenge. A lot of owners of cc on there would do better to let it be. But not all will.
