Default Looking for a book on social engineering

more to the point a audiobook i can listen to while working or walking. But a paper back wont be bad either.

Look for "The Art Of" books by Kevin Mitnick.

Then go read "The Cuckoo's Egg" to find out what happens to social engineers.

Then, realise that it is all about salesmanship (selling an idea) and get a book like "Selling the Invisible" by Harry Beckwith, at which point you might actually learn something more useful than scamming a pizza.

Thing to remember about the "infamous" social engineering scams is that they were performed 20 years ago, at a time when computers were new, and people were not as security conscious. they are a nice "historical" perspective I guess, but largely irrelevant in current society.

Oh yeah - and then go rent "The Sting" to see how it is really done

Well im more interested in the psychology aspects of it, i dont want to mess with people, just understand more about ourselves. But then again, a jedi mind trick or 2 might come in handy in a few sticky situations too now that i think about it.

Thnx token, ill chck them out

As I'm sure a few people on here would love to tell you, Social Engineering is just a teched up way of saying to con somebody. And I'd assume you'd have better luck looking for the psychology of conning or something. Different terminology always helps on search engines :P
