Requirements:
An unlimited SMS plan (or be willing to pay per message)
Step 1
Every phone is assigned an email address through your carrier. If you're on AT&T, it's yourphonenumber@txt.att.net. On Verizon it's yourphonenumber@vtext.com.
Check with your carrier for the correct email address.
Step 2
Create a filter in your email account. In Gmail, choose Settings / Mail Settings / Filters
Step 3
Choose how you want to filter: by email address or subject line are two really good options.
Step 4
Verify your phone number - you'll get a code via text. This is to avoid spam.
