On Sunday we watched with amazement as Felix Baumgartner jumped from 24 miles up to set several new records. Today we're getting some insight on the jump from our resident expert skydiver!
When Felix Baumgartner took his 24 mile jump, he was breaking a skydiving record that has stood for more than 50 years.
Baumgartner reached a maximum speed of 833.9 miles per hour as he fell to Earth, breaking the speed of sound. He's the first human to achieve that outside of a airplane or spacecraft.
We asked our resident skydiving expert, Dave Herwig, for his view of what went into making this jump successful, and how the equipment and Baumgartner's skills all came together to break those records.
