Benchmarking Your Linux Systems
Want to find out how powerful your Linux System is? Use these terminal commands to find out! Sysbench is perfect for this. It gives you a quick layout of your machine's performance, by benchmarking your CPU, file IO, MySQL and more.
First, install Sysbench with apt-get install sysbench, and use man sysbench to check out the parameters.
to test our CPU's: sysbench --test=cpu --cpu-max-prime=20000 run
to test our RAM: sysbench --test=fileio --file-total-size=10G prepare
Now to benchmark file IO: sysbench --test=fileio --file-total-size=10G --file-test-mode=rndrw --init-rng=on --max-time=300 --max-requests=0 run

sysbench --test=fileio --file-total-size=10G cleanup (will delete the test file).
