GIT- Annex Assistant started as a Kickstarter, raising all it's funds on the fist day last year. This is a GIT alternative to company owned file sharing services like Dropbox. GIT-Annex Assistant will let you synchronize a folder on each device of your choosing, where the contents of the folder are the same in each location.
For me to install, first I had to get the Precise PPA version for Ubuntu.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:fmarier/git-annex
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install git-annex
Once installed, you simply open the WebApp and get started.
First, create your first repository. The default is /annex/ on the
Desktop. Then, start created folders in other places (such as a USB drive, another place on your computer, another computer, or in the cloud). I created a second one on my computer in the Home directory.
Now if I move a file to my SharedFolder and resync, it will appear in both folders at once. You can continue to create repositories in other places and on other computers for complete sharing of your files. Simple!
