" That does this result of 100. There -- position where markets will spend the money that's resentment that aren't. -- markets change and -- market changes in demographics have changed. Certainly you do you wanna put into place those words we think we didn't run in markets where the products that there are accessible -- best. " Joining me the look on 2.0 conference is. Tom Adams he's the president of Adams media research and had a few questions asking about Blu-ray technology not relates to consumers. I've talked could talk that you put a lot of people are aware of Blu-ray technology but. Familiarity with -- in terms of getting their hands on it seems to be one of the big issues people are doing --"

" Yeah we have to see it to you wanna. Yeah it's. Soon after those people that dvds. Sharpton. About client. But at same time the intent behind him around in -- concession prices down. 3000009. Pounds and -- plus. Publicity so it's happening. In in terms of multiple numbers suggesting that most people have networked homes are are not necessarily networking they're not workable players you don't know networks. The whole idea. We raises transition technology to network delivers his much. Don't -- about a 22 billion dollar package here just. 400 dollars this. It's it's many many years ago. People are connecting. That -- into Baghdad digital download technologies Waller are lagging because of those kind of issues. Well yeah issues are that -- need to download Washington from TV. When he gets my TV. Part was that he has a lot to say obviously lots illustrations -- great -- he's also a film like you're from back in the days when you. It was basically gravity -- and everything get them. Let's hear what the man has to say about home theater where Blu-ray it's --"

" Northern if you could maybe start -- in a little bit Cohen. How did this change in the home video technology has affected here you're collecting sensibility."

" Well I'm. First of all at this point all the studios are really gone for very very strong. Change for the better and transition. In presenting films on home video in the old days when there was sufficient there was no dream of ever having a film. Home. -- I guess the only way being obsessed with films -- way to sort of try to possessed of something by the poster if you could afford it it's on them then eventually. Eventually. The video cassette. Was created. This was a remarkable thing because you can actually have. Actually I have collection. I collect -- reflection of your favorite books. On the films that you like of course the video cassette was very limited in its. It's technical. Technical laden. Aspects so that in a way to -- you we're glad at least to see and that you can syndicate seat at home screens weren't as big band to. But I do it was the only alternative to work trying to catch the film again. At a repertory cinema. That was so -- the person is in the seventies. -- new York and Los Angeles among the countries he could probably get to see the problem repertory cinemas at the time. Took the films are getting the principal getting older so what you saw him seat on the big screen but. You may see excerpts from can. Excerpts from the shortened version once upon a time in the west yeah that's sort of think -- the only -- available to video cassette I've not I think -- cropped version. -- You know what's limitation technology. But -- even on dvd when dvd first came out. There was a sort of confusion with. Aspect ratio for example may have major titles like cloning -- I think was first released a full screen. -- I do think you're you remember I think that there -- infusions with 185. Which is a normal circle. -- and I thought -- say they may be considered releasing its full screen month retreat was was good enough but. They're really don't think -- was. And anyway now being the potential of the Blu-ray. To replicate. The original. Theatrical experience of seeing the film. -- so far this is the best format that I I have Kevin from forty years of their self. The quality the higher resolution of the high definition mastering. And really the support now of the extraordinary team to the studios you have behind between masters. Blu-ray now offers. The ability to -- as close as it was meant to be. This. As a film grain texture and away. Which is very very important replicating theatrical experience. And I I think it's impossible obviously to recreate. Completely. The experience of watching the film in a movie theater yet. I mean really. Firmly believe fed to -- his closest you can get to reliving that experience."

" How do you feel about the ability to we have now to our corporate classic zooms from their original formats. It's something like --"

" I mean there's always. I feel the what's really important -- presented something original format."

" Had a proper. The right aspect ratio size of the screen. Especially you can get to the color the original burnt version of the color that the cinematographer still available -- sort of think the sound I'm. But I I took advantage. The capabilities of office or from by -- but these new technologies."

" Then I probably didn't have at the time and this was text taxi driver."

" because it turned out that Bernard -- recorded score on the film and stereo at that time."

" I mean that type -- picture was just not being released and stereo."

" His mom and it was mixed model mix in five days and done. We feel wonderful original stereo -- and forty. The original. -- in the dvd. We created. A new score I mean we create a new soundtrack. That I super helped supervise. The stereo music. Balanced with the dialogue track -- to thank them when I went into check -- on the on the -- Transition. This new on this new web format. And I found that the dialog was had. How can behind in my -- he might have been dialect was hidden behind the music he so that was keeping a -- all the dialogue back to the Senate track. You can put up front cover every member doing that picture so that I felt that it was balanced properly I mean I feel. If you're gonna do that and you could present at a certain way and people are not used to sound in their homes. I'm even used to the sound comes left right behind you that's what I think. For a classic film that that he's not necessarily exactly have always done. But if you also have available the original mono track. -- dvd on the Blu-ray. I mean this is for me this is something that's totally valid we'll talk to remember that many films -- release what was called to remember them."

" The worst serial -- there -- versions hysteria that."

" 4050 years ago been more proud of certainly my -- from gore definitely forties early 50% -- sound. Please call -- prospectus up and actually they're very they're very early. Stereo tracks -- still existed many of the classic films bring -- on -- person comes in the way to -- you -- them the right track. But she goes -- the -- you -- going across the frame by the left. It artificially crude and everything but -- stereo there was stereo problem and therefore you know if we can enhance that a little bit. To make that smoother and I'm gonna Blu-ray. It's totally valid -- musicals like a star is born and so many others who had that they have that stereo. Had a stereo tracks the -- I'm going back to I think in the forties if I'm not mistaken may be wrong there. But pictures like chain because prospectus and many others."

" Do you have. Favorite movie that you watch on Blu-ray when that you watch over and over again. It's from. For someone who has thousands of films and their collection measure that would be difficult to --"

" It is hard it is time my that the searchers. Searchers found the Blu-ray and that's my beautiful beautiful beautiful cream it's one of those things from Blu-ray makes -- so. You'll get a promotion and distant vision correction and the Blu-ray about picture. Think about it when you just put her just to check it out. You you can't take it -- It's just keeps this a -- but the beauty -- the landscape in the nature of the face is sending yeah. I'd be guaranteed that it is. John Ford's word -- That's still holds up and it's still very moving through there are others too but then that's when it comes to mind."

" collected here to thank you for taking the primary schedule they join us here today and we really appreciate you and the more you had to say. Yeah. Absolutely."

" when my producers are being with a broken -- her Red Sox. Hurting. You probably know the gentleman who was interviewed and heart disease is rumored for some reason my experience back. Archival restoration. Facility which we. -- there he is responsible for bringing. --"

" Priorities in my department. We do masters of new titles as well as a lot of times."

" Good to you you just talk with a panel Barnes we're says he's big part of that was film restoration and capturing the authenticity. Of a transfer you mentioned Dr. Strangelove and being able to see the strains in the Blu-ray transfers before it transfers. How do you approach when you're when you're moving into. We've never had the kind of fidelity we get -- resolution clarity on how do you approach decisions about whether I can modify the film before it goes on the."

" Last seen in the first high definition. Is that. It is pretty good evening in terms of deceit and -- We think that's fairly cautious approach. And Arafat's speech. In terms of how we handle every film. Whether it's softer greens are dirty here has scratches and try can only remove those things it shouldn't be there. And and take a fairly. Often post I hope anyway -- Trying -- and these titles on Blu-ray. As close as possible team with the experience of living in fear."

" Is -- the bigger challenge finding quality prints were negative or maybe dealing with some of the film stock quality that was shot in the eighties and that there's so many. The difference is different -- challenges just changed so much."

" Those are always challenges yes that's the only phone. The more difficult. The project will probably be because her own -- things survives its original. Strange well documented case. That situation where there was no -- night. And we'll work on films from the thirties and forties for example. It's really kind of tape doesn't mean it kinda elements fourth. And this can mix and match -- to come up with one best -- And then Indians Arnold and am beginning -- Digital Domain to you can clean up and whatever else and it. Making -- is seamless -- everybody excellent treatment time and thank you both."

" Oh my goodness I it was a freak out. There's obviously -- Truly one of the most beloved directors and content producers believe that this Joba probably yeah. It also -- Mind yeah. I think he's seen everything from like forty. Well my favorite comments were thinking it was that's. Blu-ray really can do something to that old movie making -- again and really bring young. Viewers into the experience because it's not his ratty song Clark needed back again. -- can't -- the correct aspect ratio team that's the other thing that's literally office especially for them. " So what do you know I think analysts on -- them. A live rabbits she cheat to get the name -- They'll work service is building a bridge to do to Blu-ray did you rate obliterated right. Not -- great fastball so we have blockbuster Roxio cinemanow group net flicks and Iraq from Sony electronic -- yes three. And how these come together into the following it was really interesting that these guys talk partially because they all acknowledged that look. They've made you ain't seen but it doesn't compared massive four megabit per second -- when -- you think plus available. The Blu-ray -- but they're all really excited about their streaming services showing up its sights set top boxes especially Blu-ray players -- that are enabling. A total center and I was interesting that they also sent. Street services. Were not for people are the ultimate cinematic."

" Quality of their home theater were about people who wanna lots of moving without getting up -- that sounds totally and of course they love it because the brand new revenue stream for them. That they're predicting it could continue growing and arguably that's one of the reasons -- dvd sales are on the decline now because there is something I digital download can't replace that. No doubt blockbuster obviously -- convenience stores anytime soon. The guys and efforts -- were they thinking we expect to keep doing you know danced until 2030 at least that's part of the business model. But they also said it was interesting that Netflix subscribers that they've gone from 20% to 44% of the drivers are down stream movies on line. And they all want more access and they all had complaints basically are are very gentle it's amazing that it is almost impossible. You get the best quality master that with the studio to deliver the best quality screens at the general consensus. Streak is always going to be a little bit behind the best. That the studios have to offer ourselves studios have blue -- they have dvd quality -- slightly better studios that dvd quality they were forced to be VHS well. The foreseeable future media and Blu-ray movies that are properly -- it finds a way to show off a new identity. And that is the gold standard what happens forest service of course you don't have access to a full digital theaters where your Hollywood its involvement. Our -- yeah. You. Have perhaps the future -- yeah. Well about a possible futures going to be reading technology and Panasonic have their own -- truck out back. We got the right and I had to have to think it's more of it and it happens so."

" Under the Panasonic full HD 3-D demonstration trailer right behind me and joining me is -- he's. Field manager for the Panasonic boot -- Can tell a little bit about the technology behind absolutely what you're looking at behind him as the full HD 3-D truck sort this the west coast toward them or. We're out here in the blue con event today it is really excited showing off our targets inside so it's. Now Panasonic -- for the plasma technology news -- using that in developing 3-D technology using that external. Plasma is it is a great avenue and we -- the best avenue for the 3-D technology is specific with what we're showing. Because of the refresh rate of plasma versus other. A potential TV sales CDs are front and projectors. -- refresh rate of the plasma roughly four times higher than LCD screen so tell us that it was random spots there. Motion and say it was an LCDs or aid from him. When you talk about them excellent pixel performance I think Iraq right now these are. 1080. 1080. And through the use of the and active shutter glasses the three people right player and -- plasma set. They actually work together as assistant delivered double that resolution to keep your eyes are getting 1080. Paul HDs each -- seems. Very good. Now is it compatible with the -- here is it likely that doesn't require special players and technology now let. If it will it it is backwards compatible in the end 3-D TVs all -- two. However to get something in 3-D it will have to be made for 3-D. Good deal. Any chance to conduct a pricing or availability there intersect and if if I knew I would definitely amendments that added at this point that's sort of the big question mark -- answered next couple. It's so probably not for the Christmas season and you're not gonna get this it that this set launch date for for an everything that you saw on the -- today was her spring of 2010.

Completely. Great show! I currently have a 32" 720p TV and use a Sony home theater in a box with a DVD player all connected together through HDMI with up conversion. And the the TV and the Sony Home theater system on sale. They both preform 3X as what I paid fro them. the only HD I have in the equation is over the air television which also out preforms what looks like I should pay for, but I pay $0. ;)

Difference between streaming HD and Blu-ray masters?

Great show. I loved seeing a bit of reality check regarding the state of Blu-ray and streaming adoption. Ironically, my HD stream of Patrick's interview with the CEO of Best Buy paused to buffer for 20 seconds right when as he asked if streaming was any real danger to Blu-ray in the near future. Question answered.

There was mention of the fact that the the studios seem to be supplying the streaming services with sub-par content compared with what they are putting out on Blu-ray. Does this apply only to the streaming services or is it a problem with all digital content providers? (Apple TV, Vudu, etc). Are the studios really taking the same care with remastering the content they are releasing to the digital market as they are to the the blu-ray market? It seems that it would be awfully easy for them to just dump some hastily remastered stuff out there to the rental market.

It would be interesting to know more about the whole process studios use to get films ready for HD rental and sale.

Martin Scorsese full keynote

It seems that HDNATION was the only one recording Martin Scorsese keynote on Blu-Con 2.0 that did a good job and had any audio worth listening to, but could you maybe put it online ?
I've been looking for it for a long time, but everybody links to the HDNATION show, which was very good, but would like to see the full keynote.
