May not be 100% accurate" Coming up today's episode what kind of hoping it would Robert -- price was no object just thought I'd get this -- joins us our top five so bad they're good at. Movies picks and the blue rarely do for the week of October 27. Few doubt the died. This -- key gauge. Yeah. Today's episode is brought to you by -- and fly square space and godaddy.com. Welcome -- HD nation not -- I'm Patrick Norton HD gauge if you're got to this debate because it and the best -- home theater gear no matter what your budget is. Blu-ray our minds satellite cable over the your hard drive -- it it's an HD. We likes it there. I've been obsessed."
" Looking at the film grade in the patriot. Really yet not the whole. Retelling of the American whole. Revolution it's actually been noticing film -- if you're talking like that digitally added them -- retirement the thing with actually shot on film and transferred and have pretty sure that's the one ounces -- one well if -- 300 -- the -- purposely -- congress now and this is not a I'm pretty sure this is not particularly applies it to millions -- all -- program. I do I don't it was really funny is that that's -- so -- dvds -- to us from watching television it's been shot digital I think I think it's been shot digital. Is really there's a -- register I didn't see movie theater attendance for ever and I was like oh. Grade of those ever told can I used to see a lot of movies that Peter getting harder nowadays with digital projection cinema and it's. The angry bureaucracy and again except they'll always have claimed there will always have the -- Point turn off any noise reduction on TV -- so that if there is green in the source material policy it. I don't want the TV to actually trying to fight. --"
" Let's see the market. Search company MP group has issued its 2009 quote unquote also TV inventory report that would -- everyone's homes they did actually they had about 3000 people for us consumers that participated in online poll. And 77% of them said that screen size is the most important criteria. For new HDTV -- at all what 65 inch televisions right if you're looking at any thing you're looking to upgrade size from two. To something they in rectangular. And of the screen the people are looking at things that forty screens are the sweet spot. All right here's somebody told -- that's what she says. Well however a quarter of the people surveyed indicated that they wanted screen sizes at least fifty -- Britain possibly large. But it really nice and the second most important thing that people want an HDTV comedians can be made in mid January. Well they're citing. Exactly but -- I guess I -- I was the only second most important thing apple suddenly what percent of respondents cited that it is extremely or very important. They're purchasing. Other parts of any of them actually read these the actual question that Grasso very credible service not that's -- that -- President receive free beds for -- on the but anyway since January here's my favorite part of on this story and -- retail tracking service showed that the average price. For 4042 inch flat panel television says -- decrease. By 27%. And that's essentially go from an average price about 1150 dollars down to about 838 dollars. Next to since the beginning of the year for 2009 and the same thing applied to fifty and 52 inch flat panel TV as well. A 27% price reductions in the beginning of the year. It's a -- because the consumer electronics adoption curve where there's a small matter sales but they're spending more money he's spending less money but they're usually worse sales. As the technology becomes the incidence of new and plans to come on line as well that are increasing the production number of -- being produced -- he'll probably going to be an all American produced HDTV. Now. Between the Koreans and Japanese they've got it covered so Carlson Chinese -- that we've -- here. The world is good. Oh my goodness hate it episode fourteen a couple of weeks ago we were the ruling over the -- did LG SO nine series LTD. -- One -- one point two inches thick one inch. Did it also features wireless it puts it could be mere 5500. Dollars for 54 point wanted stating he he screamed it at 600 bucks and -- awesome that they're free that's a tough thing I'd like you McCain to actually if you're just -- measurements but it's that it's only built a one size was yes 54 inches that. But he had good folks over each -- managed to get their hands them wanted to quick review of it for good review actually and they mentioned at the screen service my favorite part it's actually producing."
" A very good black level and it's screen surfaces no longer sheet of glass on the surface of the panel but -- piece of probably optical grade plastics seller. To what the pioneer Kerr Rhode televisions that we on -- in love and had to pioneer basically pioneer pioneer to -- plasma technology and Panasonic seems to be picking up. The speed we'd be calling Panasonic for review unit I really do I think so. Just to show people here's a one inch thick panel but more importantly here's here's one of the competing wireless HD technologies as well so that it quality -- you're talking wireless each -- sense that you -- box you have to separate similar boxes stacked with your other components -- hear your Blu-ray player cable satellite box and whatnot I don't plugs into -- minute wireless wirelessly transmits all the video. That is being included in that -- box. Two televisions so the only wire you really don't of the TV is just -- So they're so there's basically through wireless each he'd be a reality not just like super expensive get all totally totally we're also looking at. I -- the Sony introduced the XP or ten and that'll be out later this year that has its own wireless technology built into the side as well."
" I gotta say if you guys are curious email us we -- know what's -- about -- wireless XP connections that there exciting for if you wanna use compare some of the ones are aftermarket personal -- from the TV's. We should also say. Yes the Western Digital TV life is all its way to us will be reviewing that shortly you -- been asking about it we've got -- old -- new. Watching that Blu-ray players aren't you L he's blue replay of the just ended voodoo which is the online streaming H. He video sources has some pretty amazing quality that's coming up next week. And we have a roundup of all of the available at least all the major players in blue rate PC software -- back those are coming up next couple weeks -- just what you guys now. Coming up next coming up next hey we have our list of terribly awesome scary movies but first class by one of our sponsors it's got back one of --"
" Boxers game why -- why is the largest online video game rental service that offers a choice of over 6000 Buick classic titles across all consoles and hand else. But plans starting at fifteen ID five a month game whatever -- what the four games of the time keep them for a longer than life. No late fees are due date and you think it's always forty. Once you're done playing games send it back in game -- will -- you the next available game or your list. If you really liking bigger planes typically keep it on the game -- website and the game that he awards at a discounted price. Game wild even -- the case to dangle free of charge. That's an -- bad you can get a free two week trial like going to Debbie Debbie Debbie and I can't buy dot com slash H deviation from restricted supplies to the fact for details it goes for every hearing he should support us by supporting our sponsors. Like can fly."
" It's time for our top five live and because it's the season sport we're bringing in the top five so bad it's good war movies but it is that certainly won't frighten -- but. It might make you just -- laughing because they are that that. -- here contribute his expertise didn't think it is still look terrible movie of our producer Roger Chang. We're gonna start."
" Well you know terrible movies are a dime a dozen but terrible horror movies that make you laugh well there -- a little prayer fine. But a start up with a white noise now what was supposed to deal or movie turned out to be. A Big Ten -- Lockheed I'm not scared I'm not interested the only interesting part is that. Where Michael. The hero of the movie goes and it eat crazy and start buying -- these TV's answer to box him because he basically wants to connect with the idea is that life. -- the power of static. On TV so basically he gets no you can do their messages that come from to -- is -- to poltergeist or is it just I wit bush spoke. Click you know not back it up that collected the footsteps it's funny enough that you'll you'll basically look -- the ghost looked like he -- from. Yeah. Number two. The big bad wolf the big bad wolf never heard this movie I found it via Netflix HD streaming and you know what I couldn't stop laughing this movie takes the premise of a family member is a big bad where -- he's getting me -- rather making me in my friends but they actually add a lot more to the BC takes the half naked horny teenager in the cabin McCain in the central. And that in the -- the tip. So basically you had this werewolf that goes around now reaping women. Killing guys and Dario we -- still one liners and it's so funny it's ridiculous he's. You know the stuff he says the so that I -- right now but I guarantee you if you like you -- good for alive yes. Number three this we have Freddy versus Jason grant yes he versus Jason got you have two of the best. Franchise that -- you have to Freddy Krueger and have Jason Ortiz of course leading managed to take those two characters have put them -- the Dr. Phil opposite. Not good now I got my. So basically. We we learned that origins of of Jason Ortiz and it's really not that scary in fact it's kind of Dr. Phil you mean. Too much Dr. Phil not enough hack and slash yet -- the hack and slash. Wasn't even the good part is -- jump at least once its its way you would win when the characters actually go in. To the sub conscious of the basic basically the embodiment of the -- ridiculous. But it's funny it's so funny. Trying to understand evil -- for a living close to my heart cloverfield is is JJ Abrams attempt at making an American gods on and he basically wanted to do it with an American tennis twist to it. So he did it with a -- you know -- they were summoned as a video cam -- running through the entire -- that one of the main characters who actually holds the Cameron University -- at least until when -- later in the movie so the first score of the movies rate has suspense has action it's basically the other three quarters of the that's absurd. Ridiculous and parts of it where you just basically slamming the palm of your hand in your forehead saying. Off all. I like that two for two reasons one action sequences just watching at least the digital representation of Manhattan Beach rented that and a perfect dark and I don't know I kind of like and there's all this happened flowers and I want a happy ending but the ending was pretty much like yes there's your right buddy. But if you think before you act. Got -- got him okay. Number five and a list we have gangs of the day games of the dead all of my god this is like god this is a blue light special I've ever seen what. I also if apple this -- Netflix HD streaming and so basically. Two games are are meeting in a warehouse to buy weapons in this weapons -- But at the same time -- comet hits the earth and turns he's home with bombs into zombies zombies invade the warehouse where they're at an all action in that certain breaking news. So first of all the gangsters are anything but. They're basically. To help -- there to articulate and the Latino gangster -- has no tax whatsoever. -- ridiculous limited credibility and no credibility whatsoever and you know you have client side where blustery -- that's what's happening. That about them every time. I think it's pretty funny. The special effects are straight out of community college but. It's so bad -- have you in stitches bucket. Patrick Wilson that at and because this is HD nation we cannot stop it just number five of course we have number six. I know you did last summer yes this is a surfing this favorite it was made 1997 with Jennifer Love Hewitt Freddie prinze junior. It's it was kind of the that the hallmark of what every nine slasher flick was. -- running on the coattails to scream in I know what you did last and that became the most parity or movies all the scary movie scary movie 1235. Billion. It's just so ludicrous and so absurd that you if you watch it you'd probably do more chuckling laughing that you would -- So thank -- the Nelson -- now if you enjoy that you should actually catch episode twelve of each in each one film writes Brian Connolly. Was here engage his five top scary movies -- actually good deal -- aren't enough of the old."
" Let's see what's new in Blu-ray. But it released for October 27 2009 are. Battlestar Galactica the plan. I -- on the dinosaurs. The living dead at Manchester more. Money python almost the truth the six hour documentary that aired on I have seen last week oh yes. -- of the -- Nothing like the holidays. For us. The prisoner the complete series. Stand helping. Particularly the lost treasure and whatever works. Coming up next. Patrick it is just it slips from -- at this news but first let's take a moment to thank one of our sponsors Squarespace. It until more is our Internet cable."
" Hello -- intern here tell you about Squarespace. Did you know the most employers will do a Google search on their job candidates before hiring. That goes for interns to them. And we're getting my internship here official three I want it's something out there online that would represent me in a professional way but first first face him. And there are few music blogs out there that really caught my -- but they're clean colorful it's sort of minimalist design and I wanted to model my site after them. After trying -- Emerson dot com I started by -- on Squarespace is designer templates and adjusting the layout block positioning colors and more until I was happy with what I had on screen. Then after some feedback from my Twitter followers I had a beautiful finished product and a little corner of the Internet I was proud to call my I don't. I didn't have to do any decoding scores get hit a lot of backwards to. Now I -- my site from scratch but if you already have a blog or website somewhere else you can you Squarespace is shiny new blog in order film. Right now it's the only thing happen like it ill bring over all of your word press blogger type pad and movable type posting pages over his first -- with just one click. It'll also migrate Alter comments tags authors media and search engine optimization to see you won't lose your Google patron. And -- taking patient fans use the -- HD nation to get 10% off your entire count for life and at least it pretty much no excuse to keep putting up building your own website so good Squarespace dot com and you decode HD nation now."
" We love watching movies all Blu-ray but our next guest watches -- for -- he's the founder and editor in chief and high Def -- news.com what were favorably reviewers what HD nation Justin's loss Justin -- Not monitored. I gotta ask itself like a dream job for movie fan but you must go Dotson did you play the same scene over and over trying to figure out what's going on and transfer."
" I'll be honest with you last night I was doing that what -- transformers two about the Wal-Mart exclusive that. And you'll see stuff when it comes I -- you know. The CD or the prosthetics and makeup and stuff show law and high debt that you never seen before they look horrible -- It make it like you -- don't have what you can be like -- for the movie you're probably not gonna like be happy with what you see."
" A bit amazing watching like -- we often -- his life alcove eighties movies look awful you have to explain like because they were shot on the world's cheapest film stock. And they weren't properly stored in no one cares about her but."
" You know most seventies movies and eighties movies at the soft tone to them right and that's. That's not always the case even unity -- the best restorations. Seventies movies will easily have a soft on an -- movies well. Some people try to say this you know that's excuse to save the strippers bad. You can only do so much with the source materials something."
" Let's talk about transfer quality how that varies and how it impacts the the Blu-ray movies and what's the worst case scenario to me thinks it has anybody ever taken a dvd transfer it just thrown on -- Blu-ray and pretended it was high Def."
" Yes. The thought I. I wouldn't boarded the film would like too much -- but I will name the title that I don't want this tedious to hate me for this first of all gangs of New York. And the transfer it is really horrible. Then you've got Robocop which kind of an iconic movie through I believe the late eighties or nineties."
" Gangs of New York it's with a bit of a Martins of all people more conspiracy -- he directed. Kind of not having a decent release again it's really fighting for the preservation of cinema in the United States can like how that happened."
" Really it's really odd that you mention that because there will -- on to point out comin' up here I'm not gonna be attending."
" But I think Scorsese's going to be speaking ahead of all things in that ironic."
" Most most of Scorsese's stuff to be honest and he really looks good you know until."
" Very good old house band aid could -- is the thing that made me realize that I was going there is -- as -- a cash I was buying an HD dvd player so. When you're looking at movies he's do you find like sound or video compression creating more more problems there are being you know companies. Paying more attention studious paying more kids in the one of the other. Or is generally speaking everybody do a pretty good job."
" So studios will pay more attention the audio recording a lot of."
" Different language tracks. He knows I don't know fever but look at the amount of language reckless Sony released here it's like astounding that like most when he. Like every spoken language on the planet you can usually only find one loss was next on there. There's been a few releases like her think -- a third time that actually contains two different."
" Mixes it had eight DT SCD master audio -- dolby true HD."
" That's the competing you know so get an -- you usually don't see that one of those on her release. There's only a few titles that is that that the treatment."
" I have to say I was really excited would when. When it was a vase restoration came out that they had the original mono track and there because that --"
" That over the but won't wind I thought the five or more of the big effort. Sometimes I will update the buffalo whenever you're seven point one after vice Versa there's always a what you can do it something mistaking them like a wax cylinder recording."
" Her button and it will be what's the most challenger when you're looking at a video what's that is are you looking for. And work or what that you noticed the most that the compression equality may -- if if -- on on the band with a particular scene. Immunity consistent bit errors we should be watching out for -- or just trying to get up. And I also -- once I learned about certain types of compression noise I could not see them anymore drives me kind of nuts."
" Yeah it's like. It's like a piece if you've seen or something in this film you watch -- he can't take it like completely seriously again -- to see that their own problems and stuff like you're saying you know you you look at a completely different."
" It's usually film grain is the biggest thing if it's from 35 millimeter."
" 35 millimeter -- these days the newer films he adds to humor most films are being shot on digital or something like an invasion 35."
" I mean that television justice rather him or something like the red one camera or something like that."
" IMAX god forbid."
" They look flawless like and Dark -- when this would just iMac your eyes -- up not to look at that. But we're talking about ball -- stuff -- the stuff like cigarette burns in stuff don't ever get removed due to me. Yes of them like Barack. It was shot on sending millimeter film the skin and AK. That's -- get a -- it was all the way because it's -- many years -- first looked at how the technology mines await."
" Even if we're talkin' stuff that's out right now I have to honestly say. Was your boss who that is a couple times. It's one killer out next month is gonna blow that away to agree. Especially appear operatives are -- in north by northwest and got an eight. I actually washed out when I want to see and prep myself for that horse."
" Dvd have been popped it and today in his ninety day. It is amazing even the sound is amazing I can't wait to see he's not what I love Wally love. I love read it to me actually get to meet Brad Bird that movies to classic is actually just jumps off Australia has what we call courtroom -- three pop. We're you don't even have to have a television and read this but -- like it hasn't death."
" To it and it really feels like it's gonna get my hands gonna come out here."
" If you can do that especially in stuck its computer generated. Transformers suited for example of that."
" Justin thank you so much for taking the time to talk to -- today. No problem man. Keep up the good work and and and and we'll do our best man ladies don't -- mr. Justin's look you can find more of his work -- with them over -- news.com it's good stuff check it out. Coming up next we got some questions but first expect a lot of our sponsors. For all the nation do any deals with codes. It was a favor get your piece the other -- a godaddy.com. And usually -- code wouldn't it be enough."
" What's the ultimate hit Costa still optic -- you hope theater system could. I've won at least for the screen but mr. here and answer this 11 -- procedure and -- it if you would certainly find yourself with -- unlimited stream of money and I'd like that bought. What television what you buy space flight from Newfoundland Canada he's goofy new house price. But unlimited funds and -- them. First thing and have to do is design -- custom room -- built I want a room that utterly isolates me from sound either inside or outside I don't wanna I don't want to -- my neighbors. Adding maybe if adamant it publicly -- neighbors. But ideally if it is in the house I don't wanna be disrupted by that was coming from outside as well so we are I want the room just right. In the seating and everything else. Second. True HDT your true cinema for the home should be on a projection screens though that's -- go right there and I have to pick one out probably. Oh don't read -- Stewart film screening this and -- screen it's the one that hasn't that's curve to it so that it is certain just the right spot there it'll sort of technical. Reasons why you would want curves going I think it looks really cool. And of course we're gonna have the automatic masking panel thought I'm watching for like three material -- little black. Velvet or whatever materials made of will automatically slide in forming as -- that's -- projected to -- just so. A -- wise I think easy way out on this a company called meridian out of UK they make only. Only time in performance products for the home theater system. And they obviously -- they also have what they call their ultimate reference movies system and it includes my favorite 180000. Dollar ten megapixel ten megapixel. 810 reference video projector system that's 4096 by 2400 pixels. Custom DI -- chips right from JC. JC makes a similar projector to get a primary anyway I would select the motorized 235 to one cinema scope lands. It also includes mark -- video processing technologies so that when your recreating say. An additional eight million pixels for eager to -- content. Got something really good generating that also includes -- when my favorite part seven about one digital loudspeaker system. Now the speaker's actually -- camps built into them you run an actual digital cable right to the speaker itself. It looks off the prices and it just so unassuming. That comes to me quite a bit but in addition to 71 I would want at least. I want sixteen -- workers. I gotta have that I want for this ETF sixteen so what all of sports acts of war and I want him on each of the no points in the side of the wall and in the centerpoint to these walls so I'm canceling capital but. -- What what for the cover to cover what coverage point and then -- just the next three stack for rather than having like say for half of one that ran at sixteen smaller ones -- just weird -- it's limited pocket here. I'm guessing I'm guessing just for the hardware is listed and into the room can do it all for about 500 listener thousand dollars. Including furnishings now audio audio -- you can spend -- there and the projection system -- gonna set me back close to 200 grand that's not even covering calibration -- up. We're -- room being built."
" It's like audio video switching -- all your components right into that one cable for the display. And it handles pretty much every coda codec that's out there right now so you're you're dolby true H senior DT SHD master audio tracks from your Blu-ray movies. We're gonna sound pretty darn good news you've got the nice thing is when you put a PS3 into a receiver like that it does a quick check to see what audio formats are supported it pretty much get every one of them which is really great. The only downside to that set -- might be it depends how you wanna control everything but. You'll have to add some additional hardware -- the PlayStation 3 in order using universal remote with that unfortunate doesn't have an integrated IR work. And it doesn't have serial control and it doesn't have built in. I wish you could use the Bluetooth some out of control media and eighty somebody's gonna control that'll do that."
" The orders of would you roll control logic card is actually pretty good adapter the Hillary. That would be so bad that would be way to do that pioneers solid mid range surround sound receiver IG's it over the on Kyoto I think -- so pretty -- 500 dollar range. Your speakers by the way at this point will be grossly out -- that receiver will probably sound great. But I would definitely he had cancer -- that both of them home theater setting a store I would listen to damage EV ER 1910 -- you've seen it wasn't too impressed with the audio quality. -- there's a lot of users rank higher than the editors. Which could be some after chirping could be who own it don't like to see this stuff trashed or sometimes his case for the audio reviewer does not like the sound of receiver. I would also spent some time some of the more high end eighty stores in your area and see what some of the more high and stuff sounds like it's tough. It's really tough outside of your own house your own room to demo the difference and something but it can't be really interesting here with. High end stuff sounds like compared to -- buy stuff for the the affordable stuff which usage can pick up -- your best."
" Amazon.com. Until it no matter where you go make sure that where you shop -- it. Has it has ample return policy if you end -- component you're not in use. Actually about it extra speakers like you know what I don't I don't sergeant on -- gonna go to stereo speakers or there's a problem with anything so just to ensure that we shot -- worth your money. Definitely. It the last question here writes in a hurry to move into a house where the Liggett group has 24. Feet of glass sliding doors -- good view there -- had better -- a good view it's nice and bright the date your exits but it's also really bright. Any suggestions for television it will cut through all that someone pouring it during the day but still had -- contrasting color when I watch movies night. That is a challenge totally I'm thinking like you may wanna invest in curtains that cover all of 44 feet of those windows like -- running that bomb proof curtain down there taxes. I actually have a friend who has a similar similar room environment but literally about twenty feet -- of windows along -- about fifteen -- south facing long of the house and his display is right in the corner there so the room gets pretty -- that's not not directly on the surface of the screen itself I'd say it -- almost in this case -- always gonna go penalty flat panel yet I would agree with you on that. And unless you can afford to do some crazy protection stuff but. In on super expect any. Easy after it's over what we've -- right -- eloquently it's you're one of the other high -- screen to get the -- up a little bit -- you do with multiple projectors. But -- still think -- quarter million dollar budget -- thumb drive for projector all this really reflective screen projection system. -- to build a wall behind that to put the rear projection. The easy answer like you mentioned would be -- LCD panel -- whatever -- you need but the screen surface is really pay attention to I would avoid. The contrast enhancing shiny surfaces that you'll see on lots of panels from companies like. Podcasts Sampson was -- to really pioneer the technology with their ultra clear panel technology. It does wonders for improving contrast picture contrast but at the same when it makes the screen more reflective. Likewise I would avoid something like that SO nine. LCD that we looked at from algae couple shows ago that had glass surface on same this year aren't you matte finish to believe. Minimize park -- I -- 24 feet of window. Where the relationship do you mean do you want to put the television obviously opposite me and probably not due to meet or better to have. I mean I think you might have a choice of where you want to -- If you if you don't have a choice -- you're gonna end up with some kind of direct light on the surface of the panel the thing you really wanna try to do that is to avoid things like black bars or. Work are or bookmarks on the screen. Because any time the screen is black like that. It really enhances the -- like effective of a plot you'll notice the reflections a lot more that it would be if you're looking at full frame sixteen by nine image. On sixteen -- nine screen you'll notice that with just about any even in the reflective screens look okay if you could fill the holes bring with a bright picture. It's when you have to minimize that war you're looking -- on sixteen by nine material. You can really start to notice oh my goodness I'm seeing everything except the picture -- It is curtains were particularly. To receive the -- periods of Rwanda where they put the LTD you're. Panel they would have like a box -- be -- far behind it is so bloopers and with the LT panel on YouTube on it turned black vote that he didn't -- repeated those windows shouldn't cost more than seventy million dollars -- looks so different LTD in an environment like if it's if it's gonna be very bright room. Didn't see it. Has the real light sensor so that during today it's -- while the -- room of -- turn it back like all the way for a minute night maybe -- huge music lamp lighter you know lighting for the room.
After trying -- Emerson dot com I started by -- on Squarespace is designer templates and adjusting the layout block positioning colors and more until I was happy with what I had on screen.

And it's not right it automatically and that pictured. Not only improve your contrast perception department -- You'll also reduce your energy consumption probably upwards of 50%. That is in my house if all of the lights were off."

Good show. Only thing I could say bad is that it appears the remotely interviewed dude isn't really comfortable doing interviews.
In a future show I'd like to see the opposite of what Robert did on this one. Instead of an unlimited budget, you've got a budget of like $1500 to $2000 dollars.
Oh, Roger...believe it or not, there are gangs, and Latino gangs at that, that do not get tattoos. While the movie may in fact be silly, the lack of tattoos isn't that far out.

''Worst, best horror movies'' (Chang's missed opportunity)
Chang missed one on his list with a royal opportunity for a bash-laugh-fest on what has to be one of the ''best-worst'' horror movies ever called ''DarkWolf'' from Fox. Guaranteed to make you laugh until you choke to death because it's so bad it's bad, especially if featured in a Halloween frat party. Not only was this Fox film purposely conceptualized from the ground up to be the ''best-worst horror movie ever'' but it failed or succeeded magnificently depending on your state of mind (or lack of one).
Factors favoring including it on your list:
1. Produced just a year or so ''pre-BluRay'' it was the first low-budget studio ''film'' shot entirely on HD, in fact, on the same ''Panavised'' cameras Lucas used to shoot the last installments of the Star Wars movies.
2. It has two of the mythic icons of horror movies together in the same movie...Tippi Hedren of Hitchcock fame, and Kane Hodder, our favorite Jason of the Friday the 13th franchise...and it was still so not scary it was funny.
3. It has the ''best-worst'' CGI that looks very 1990's computer game-ish. You have to see this to ''appreciate'' this properly. Seriously.
4. It has an overly long, self-indulgent rooftop nude photo session with two gorgeous body-painted girls, one of which was the former Yellow Power Ranger. Guaranteed ''stiffie'' for the frat and fanboys out there. It just doesn't get better-worse than this.
5. All the actors put out...took it seriously and as such, the laughs come even harder.
6. It has a lot of blood, provided by one of the most experienced gore artists in Hollywood.
7. The DVD extras: Folks, it just doesn't get better-worse than this. The writer and director spew on endlessly about this movie as if it were up for an Oscar. It's like Beavis and Butthead made a movie. Again, this was on purpose but nobody got the joke apparently.
This hilariously silly film shot the Moon trying to achieve cult status and got soooooo close.
I double-dog-dare anyone to sit through this one with a straight face.

First of all, Cloverfield is not a JJ Abrams movie and second of all, its not so bad "its good", its so bad that I wanted to gouge my eyeballs. Its a silly attempt at redefining the monster movie, by focusing more more on characters. But the characters are right out of Dawson's Creek or One Tree Hill. Hell the whole motivation behind the plot is so "high school". I agree with Roger about the ending, they seriously got what they deserved.
If you do want to watch a movie that actually succeeds at what Cloverfield attempted, try The Host, from Korea. I don't know if its out on BluRay, but its the best monster movie I've seen.
The most laughably bad horror movie has to Hawa, from Bollywood.

I agree with davmoo, we need your opinions on budget theaters for those out there that just can't afford the sweet stuff. I'm the father of a four year old and just don't have the cash to drop on the nice stuff.
Was happy to see you mention a couple of receivers I'd had my eye on. I'd originally, going back four years, was looking at the Denon's, but when the Pioneer 1015 and Onkyo 605 came out I had to take notice. I thought I'd decided on the Onkyo after hearing that the Farouda video processors were superior, but with the recent 607 the value added features have priced it out of my market. I've been humming and hawing over these amps for a while, just haven't been able to pull the trigger.
Between the Denon 1910, Pioneer 1019 (650 street cdn) and Onkyo 607 (730 street cdn) I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on two aspects ... one, video up scaling, in your opinion does one do it better? Or are they all pretty much indistinguishable? Two, remotes.

To Robert Chang: Those AREN'T aliens in AI. Since it's release, I've been correcting people on this issue. I've noticed that most of the people who hate that movie, think that there are aliens in it. Just an example, IMO, of how that movie is misunderstood and underrated.

Pioneer 1019
I have this unit ad all I can say is bad ass! for the price it kicks some ass.I would love to get there premier line but well yeah....
