" This upset about Campbell is fourteen -- media and godaddy."
" And other -- I am fired up -- I'm here -- injured Gordon intern everybody that for a long hiatus. Josh Hancock couldn't be here out sunny sunny rainy Seattle -- city count on but we're here freezing cold Seattle. As little silly that's nice other -- of the show I really love the show it's smaller one. Flop on lot of people -- let's get to it I don't hear mark -- hate you Marc Spitzer power on do well mostly the energy to boost via X so what does that entail a lot of people quality from -- of the work we took -- jobs at the -- that's cool so what but it would you do it -- It's still right when he is stuff that but but on the basis it's really sort of -- the other editors and -- charting an editorial process the company. Experts trying to look at the big picture we're going to be doing six months a year on the line and making sure that our books are. You know in terms of quality. Comparable if not better then materials out there and it's smart -- well and booms bones -- publisher because they've got some original -- that he gets licenses. How does editing licenses different from our original comic art -- it's more painful but it's -- but by that the benefits are very strong like the the -- stuff that we're doing it partners that we have on the licensing and that are very generous forest and they also understand that what we do. Is not what they do like these it just do your comic to you we -- we count your knowledge of comics. And so they've been great that and the X aren't -- it's not as being as word in it like. And what we thought would order an answer which really its only while worse. And our state has been one but that's what we've done the -- the -- the -- a -- gave us our track. Yeah and and social that's that's -- force to be -- people redo licensed books and discover more the -- the other titles that that's that's the don't want them to welcome him with you know if you read you know you'll be. You can read read comic there's plenty of advertise in the air to be used to. If you like this try this goes up I'll sell and it's one that's that's going while forced him to speak you the other stuff you got a new title recently launched -- got it on of France and positive that I'm really pleased the process -- yes all the redeemable it's the story of what happens when the world's res super hero. Decides to become the world's greatest prevail and what is that some dark road of they'll -- It again it's on an on off switch he does object -- into a bill Wednesday it's more the process of you -- down to that level that you go from being. You know the mayor and doctor evil beings are mentally our and is one of the the first issue recently came out and -- the -- I was I I but I'm not surprised to that your great right there but the number of positive reviews -- to say that this is something really special. You done a lot of work needed to to to -- he takes time away from superheroes this is -- kind of a cool book to come back to superheroes and that is because he's still part superhero book but it's. And it is. I think people going to be surprised they don't want that it's not quite. It's not the violence that maybe they thought it was going to be it's there's still some -- don't think really people write anything it is just. Like slick and opportunistic and not about our elected the candidate that does have some sort mr. Pope to it but still many of the book is -- redeemable so there would look for political and those that many years an ongoing ongoing series can see I can see this on for quite some time we built it. Excellent and -- do with the stuff over -- TV and in the back Letterman's what's the -- so how does that -- coming you know sick animals not signing up to be an energy and -- vote -- come back to marvel puts its its you know it's -- like we -- job that's -- that's that's can be in a network remark on the nights and weekends. Actually got it was always -- about the idea is that. Oh a rising -- float all boats like you can get publicity for doing some the Spider-Man stuff. Michael -- get attention for doing -- the Spiderman stopping -- chance to mention boom. -- another good example is it down to an a book called back and Barcelona which comes out in May think intimate and it's being published in. Spain and America and all over Europe simultaneously. And the re you know any and that took some time away from my -- a boom stop but at the same time that means that under flying over Barcelona and -- and I -- to talk about boom. To an entire new -- talk to boom about whom to an entire new country and visit foreign publishers and talked about that we're doing so it all works together. So there's so many independent publishers there's so many people who are trying to make -- obviously. You're one of the veterans. What kind of feisty half for fledgling publishing company or crater was trying to make it I'd do comics bursts like -- before publishing companies -- Do comics don't do illustrated screenplays. You mean that you might be league's best catch that -- but. It's. Stay true to the floor equity in the they all you got your integrity missing with -- creators too it's like state. True to what you want to do they'll feel like you've got to do. -- Other people say is popular comedians today like yours and you back to work -- that's. You know and you and your resume it's your name on -- forever and -- Back comic that you do with your name on it will stay in -- for average you'll never -- it. At -- get a reprimand her native. All right so we get an awkward exchange San Francisco public -- it was awkward and I'd like to talk about the rapture where. I put together the pieces that's a -- crater on workers spending and -- working man and -- monitor things like that. And you did a very long drink of water and dodged the question you're there at your very crafted are you talking."
" He talked about how you've -- of stuff -- that's the an image dark horse but Nazis that the traitor stuff he's gone on shelves and is that they can focus I marvel worker."
" It's intense journalism right here yeah so here we article -- not and lo and behold. Big announcement recommend as -- the marble dynamics. At a --"
" Can I think the reaction to the publisher was it was astounding as they did I think it exceeded expectations. And I guess they like. Though things -- right."
" Though potter has been great so this is -- do we see more stuff tomorrow the other characters of the -- yes lord knows you can't you can write more than one book."
" Lord knows I can't yeah I mean necessarily think and hope your agent is wrapping up on 33 it's not and I mean we will we re launch the book I think that Tony and room and I are all gonna be doing more and more things marvel and we don't want to make the mistake of trying to do. Both at the same time we want to make sure that everything we do -- are absolutely -- in our a game and it is better to the -- you know. That ends we're gonna focus heavily on what we're gonna marvel and make sure that it takes much -- we're capable of picking."
" Associate is -- gear dealer -- is our time period like. It's a couple years will be yours -- awesome yeah so we'll."
" It will -- dug in like ticks -- as much awesome stuff happened is we can't -- more to it and yet I'm I'm very excited. I when it comes -- the creator and I've I've I've scratched that it's fairly thoroughly at this point so it's nice to get to go play in the and -- in the sandbox of that don't Kirby and."
" And look and look to see some of the folks before you like bandits and yeah."
" Yeah yeah and those there's about an incredibly helpful in making this all happen and very very."
" So how much do you chalk up the whole slew of deals of that see you play Xbox -- those guys."
" I would hope I would hope that it's when he something graphic novels that are written on. Equality -- any rumors and exactly epic Xbox story meetings and Xbox. We talked business on the on the Xbox mostly we're not let's just givers mostly were insulting one another on -- Those guys discussing the real business now a business that. Once in awhile to get smart you know once -- the comments. We talked about mostly other stuff but you know it's it's. It's also nice -- a group of guys when your your house it's the only sound social dynamite gets on its merits like you know I've been writing all. To read to relax when I was an artist and can't do that anymore at the NATO armies and now I know and you'll Nazi zombies and and noble thing. Noble. And it was because of my Xbox plan I would like to decline. In fact that quick comments about."
" so Gordon you know you're back on the show yes -- and if he saw without you we had to get Paul and Mike -- it on the show. In the tutors and go so well now now somebody offers what it would get used to that how it's done yeah I mean I'm gonna show like on injured actually Sampson and his new jobs you know it's not just to back hearings that -- there might be interviews there might be. Signing -- we got Josh Conner I can't be and I can't be on camera all the time and other stuff on here on talent I'm here -- a greater -- so we got a whole -- for you when you're gonna go off and hit the comedy and some costs of producing. I'm excited on the side of the now I know I'm not I'm not it's not have been away for a little while I'm ready to jump back -- I'll take the Mike in the report are right thank you and I'm Brandon."
" I don't. Do all right so bomb over the past couple weeks one of the most buzzed about books is -- an image comics written by you. So so for those haven't heard about it what's the sort of like."
" Boy viking is. -- is a crime comic based if you look at it from the context of it's that's usually the supremacy obvious that these two. Young. Liking it criminal entrepreneurs who want to make a name for themselves and idea. The world the viking organized crime and basically. Look at to get attention and have backing is about what happens when sometimes. The attention you get isn't necessarily the attention you want to the attention you think you'll get and big ugly actions. To get to where they need to get and like is this is that the book is about the consequences of that action. So it actually takes place in viking times it Saudi got a lot of comparisons O'Brien -- work in north Landers are yeah I. We we started out have put the books together at about the same time and they -- to where each other the whole time I think. Cosmetically I think people see it similarities in that I think we're both trying to do. A very non genre looking thing -- more progressive design you kind of thing that Russert very very good writers I think. I'm gonna I'm pretty companies pretty confident we're gonna have to unique and and and good -- on the market you can buy votes I'm I think it's. That said made by little sort of go to slogan this is I think if there's a market that that can support. That you. -- period books I think. That's an amazing. An amazing time for comics. So how hard is it to get the mindset -- liking I mean like PG a lot of research for it or is it. You have Scandinavian roots and I don't. Gleefully -- blooded -- the the approach every kind of character be it'd be it's they character 2000 used in the future or biking character. It's -- accurately I think motivations were. The the basic primal motivations for almost any character very similar trying to get the girl the trying to get success the treaty would ever. And my goal in any of these things is to go. And sort of -- through the trappings -- things that we aren't familiar with the Q. Identified with -- character that you parts of the characters. Are very much of an obvious it. Not everyone who read the -- is trying to -- criminal mastermind there's a -- but otherwise. The basic needs and desires to succeed to be respected news. Or whatever those are very very basic things for me everything I do as always is -- was about at that level of care so it's it's. What what Atlanta becoming. The differences between trying to figure out that character versus Jennifer Garner about character are not so much. Based in the curator based on. On. The outside roadster matches others characters different any character. -- ten groups of ten people that are different and guys it's this guy's gonna have their quirks to me you know. All of these guys can inhabit the same space there on their quirks in it it's more about their personal. Stuff than it is about the world like."
" So probably Scott Thomas -- show. This is the book that everyone is talking about and now first issue sold out two retailers that hasn't come out yet."
" we have really crazy. Genesee I'll be honest there was a little nervous about. We got a look at a couple days before taking particularly the -- you can see the book is it's a different format it's absolutely clear yet larger than we did golden -- format. There's a little nervous because it is the market hasn't hasn't always been so so. -- embraced different formats. But I mean if -- it was a risk in the first place to do it's a period but it's not a large in demand. It period period drama is it necessary. The largest damage that's been it was a risk. We figured we're gonna do we're gonna do it as they can dramatically as good so. They brought into the comics throat and eyes start to get text messages and midnight on Friday night. Saying you know this vigilant about 600 copies is ridiculous but 300 copies in asked me about want to do this and in DC air ball to mark. And it was insane Friday night. Three drinks and -- I expected basically get text message that I book is selling -- It. That Friday night that are unique experience -- not experience its its landing -- comics and have never experienced anything even remotely close to that it's. It was a really surreal moment for us we figured out you know that we printed overseas because it's -- very specific moment when the price them. It's a whenever -- over -- got a pre orders when it went over that I wouldn't want to sellout. I mean you and eating itself up -- not that day we wanted to have enough certificate you know. Enough copies to circulates that the second issue would be successful. So rivers and when I mean which can't remember. A time when they had a book that sold out. You know at this point now that they went through -- released before the actual released -- so. I do want to clarify though because it is sometimes get confused. This book is still available historical will still be when it comes on the 22 a lot will be available source that and yet -- pushed back when a second for that reason it might make -- the the maximum out of copies are in this sort. It scared off by it that so that it just means that the initial printing. The retailers are limited to the opposite they have two weeks later -- its second printing them with more copies but retailers that you know for example. New York the retailer -- me. It's zillions of copies and people who are New York should actually go to the -- and expect to get one it's. Crazy crazy crazy I think that it happened definitely believe expected and we've got -- press and now we have you know. -- very very very big massive genders over print. The second printing. So that you have to hopefully make it meet the demand full size that a -- is an ongoing -- what we feel what we respect from for the future -- sort of both. It's basically it's a it's basically seasons it's an ongoing. It's an on -- of seasons basically the the the first season of the by the issues so we're gonna have it's it's a very episodic thing each each each issue. As a very big very pronounce beginning -- and -- It beyond that each season we'll have you know like season finale that'll be an even bigger more dramatic thing at Apple take a break. It reconvene. And you know planned out and -- a break between the thing we wanted to be an event each time we don't want it to be it's going to be an ongoing but it's going to be something where. You know you get your punches and and you back often and and you absorb and you. You know and hopefully are excited for the Mexico -- in the soprano model -- exactly exactly. And I think. You know I think there have been a lot of complaints from people about about single issue comics. There -- that the trade that the written for the trade and I'm going -- not to do that I really want to make this something where people -- rewarded. Effort. We're following you know the three dollars. English version of things have some -- CBC."
" Also he stayed on as a comment it's not so -- your official title marvel. Doesn't work for Marvel Comics. Always -- the different things as my official title is talent liaison. At talents. Scout I guess editor at large are not exactly sure you're here -- review for falling isn't out yet happening at times so far I mean I'm blown away have been back in years and at a good time my company is on finding talent at a couple people we were here's ticket but it appears when it a -- again and you pants sneakers colors Anders you're. We get -- in the marvel. World could also you've been on even posted a Twitter kind of like you know gonna hit hints for ways to break into the comic industry. What look at what kind of advice to give you know becoming -- It's it's. -- trying to -- the use Twitter is immediately get the word out there and there's so many people who are doing things wrong with this many from the way it's -- up the portfolio. To the way that there -- approaching editors sending. Large files is reaching out in submitting without you know any kind of -- now we contacts. And I just think the most important thing is to you know be polite be professional when you start to be don't be pushy. You gotta get -- got to make a name for yourself and always and that no -- look at emails look getting free stuff. But getting votes but always. But a letter in. Introduce yourself kind of reach out first before you can start flooding them with any kind of artwork or. No scripts -- pitches and it's harder for writers and it is for artists at this point because there's a lot of legality involved in is exactly somehow to always has sent a -- think we first are they open seniority in the opener of the portfolios. And then establish a relationship where you really get too too crazy and start inundated them with all kinds that the instantly that it's. So marvel -- of changes to the submission policy -- which have had to cancel or -- submission policy last publisher to do so. But it just cuts beyond the -- too much of this overwhelming so much was coming in so much of it just wasn't a marble does or does wasn't up to the quality that we said. We've been very successful and find talented going to show isn't doing town searches and especially word of mouth through you know other artists other writers recommend these people that we said we're -- as focused on those most aspects. And it's it's like a doors closing because it's it's the door is closing at one it was a really open to begin with because it wasn't like coming in no one's really been hired the elements of mr. policy for four years so we're just. Opening the doors going to be announced in the talent. Search initiatives coming out this summer. -- Or wizard -- Chicago we happen. Couple people. And what we're doing now -- making work effort to go to some of the the the yup and coming some of the smaller shows like -- emerald city of the heroes we've article have a bigger presence of Baltimore. They can always find out on Twitter where like some like oh it's not a myself and the editors are going to be. And you know just. Try to make it ever comes easy to have a lot to show just those lies. And if so and so what's the one -- that you've discovered -- the most proud of you know I'd ever want to take credit for any of that and bullets of the folks that you work with early in their careers that the guys that I work with the guys -- guys -- consider friends like Scotty on it was a bad idea I -- just on the women walking -- an artist relative word yet he's -- night he was even there indictment adds that the department guy -- We've been friends ever since the money for that experts gave an iceman marvel. So now. -- out on -- and the guy that meant it was believed. Never to account when his likeness on the stuff. Just blown away in you know knew he'd be perfect right which to me that it's certainly would have found it and then -- them the rest -- it's in there so and then. The new his pants that I'm really excited about another new -- answers are generally. I just I found through my tester what sorts last year and she's been slowly in the couple games most recently acts -- coming up in human in the right shipments are runaways that she's -- when it people should be watching. And so on edition at -- searched for new talent also writer and -- it yet Evelyn. Soledad. How -- time do you balance between writing verses you know Hartman you know greater management and the it flip flops right announcement and what what time do in the town management stuff experts wrapped. We're working -- wrapped. And then now it's summer convention season starting up a kind of cutting back on the rating so and then it's over the summer be writing a little bit -- from the fall from me trying to get back into it but. I don't have too much coming up about a couple this small projects that marvel a couple of -- on things that I'm I'm picking -- getting getting out there but you know just. Focusing on mice attention right now we're towards the the travel and and the the submissions that you wrote the judicial workings are --"
" And dark crux of my all time favorite characters and I. It's published is not but the gun -- feels a lot has happened to the character and anger management things like that. -- take character like that he's been -- and try to turn it around to get it to -- again. As a writer and."
" No it's just it's all about finding where the core of that anger is -- you know what what's really pissing him off and that's what I try to do and a lot of myself I try to always type back to some kind of emotional or relationship issue. And in this case it was finding out you know whereas Lester was with someone like Mickey what -- cancellations or some his girlfriends and -- as parents because don't back. At Dartmouth and you know is that a topsy turvy life into this trying to find out what pushed by his -- made him where he wasn't where anger comes from was when angles that I wanted to explore and as stark caught -- is only two issues and Danny at the evidence and Danny and Andy had became an issue too because they had things that they need to tell where they were taking the character sowed it and cut it down even more. And I I think we did a good job with the and other going to be it's going a little bit more but I think -- dark -- with a lot of on charted territory that needs to be explored."
" Not Carol while the candidates about -- the -- a rip off it's like I cannot adapt or does the right now is whether about 25 copies of issue on the McCain like twelve. And on the eyes of people want to fight on Twitter and that your creator tips where you're turner is us and CB suppose he would know appeared to CB symbols and a month later I'm on FaceBook a month. -- Finally something I'm good at the Promos disbursement for godaddy -- to godaddy.com for all your web hosting domain name needs anything you want godaddy has it. Head over there -- the coupon code -- for 10% off your entire purchase. Godaddy.com."
" I like picnics I can tell you all diverse media they're making great comics he can read on your phone your iPhone -- Google android phone whatever you want. The bring individually to comics to today. -- Survivors media dot com force us iFanboy. I Miramax can't hey Dylan and Harry did you join jump man it's so one of the books that I heard the most about 2008 -- to make everyone's top this was your books it was."
" But yet they ask -- that -- that that that was that column when it came out you know it's kind of is not a traditional dot com books how does it feel to have so -- such critical -- like people like it in the world comics."
" It's -- really feels good to Salem and in due time extra five or six years and that was the first book where -- like -- really broke through whereas inning. I was I was insert the top self in the answer to fans. This -- over the -- self boosting and it's piracy that they pick up the book. But that that was Christmas choir was getting like previous -- all over you know and whether these violent DC. Like like. Librarian liked is like everybody was like it says is fun for me to -- a bit. It's really getting. Like it every kind of comic -- notes. As of those who have ready yet it's it's the story of it's not world team tennis by and a novel emails that files like 56 characters -- to. You see actors and it's a little self contained story and then -- ago on C all of us. This character than never meets its other kicker is really an impact on the life view of the government. That officer ties together it's just reading it it was super complicated to read that sent. Drawing and writing it must mean was that it was a hard to we've all those characters together. You know -- that had this idea for these characters and so these sort of it's. -- this sort of run itself and -- in the Olympic what characters are going to do you in the anywhere they're going to end up. And everything in between was sort of the fun. Seven made up as a way. Well so you've got a new book coming up with dark horse aren't yet in -- story resort itself has so what -- that about what and it starts out in forties and accused Lauren and so it's growing and growing in my fifties and sixties. These three stories solved on the literally restore but I -- at at the faces as they play on words that that that let the other part of that is that it's split into three sections of story line is. The story -- mother is going up authorities. From his wife's point of view before his guns -- reviews and ends directories is daughter. And it tracked down like what happened to what it was like it's about. And -- on the same kind of format Davis who aspire it is going to be little bigger or smaller -- it is the same size that we are covered well in all things besides. My painted and the penalty because you're one of those craters are going to lead the charge on the OG and had a -- announce them on the traditional issues announcement meandering and early spotted in the in the -- you form that the floppies or whatever. I didn't have the opportunity to ever do it sent dollars in -- analysis. I think it's. So with service by getting so much technical claim that -- Carson you've got some work you know you're million -- offers that everybody everyone -- in advance and as I. Last year a couple letters came in my effort from different posters bigger -- as the and I got it. A degree black with a story and then. That's and maybe doing well so so you guys so is your into the -- your votes than any electric growth and that's that an adult I don't do that. That's partly prevention as the enjoyed against the me it's like it's nothing that grip as there. It's --"
" Well I'm here Jeff parker native Jeff concede that this is well a bit of a local company and yes it's a three hour train right for me at nights and of flights on Sunday nice big -- you can like your computer -- Hiding in the way. Chaos -- title but I could have been writing a right so this is less that we got the San Diego last and you had mysterious unfathomable come out early January. I've heard nothing but fantastic rave reviews of this book connected is it critically did I enjoyed it suppose you have heard about it what does this year's."
" He's this jerk and but he used to be a stage magician and you find out in our in our world. Most successful stage magicians are practicing sorcerer's. And he always has a the assistant a lovely assistant throughout the ages and a Doctor Who like it changes. And but she's always referred to as stealthy and he just recently got a new -- he. And once you've got that kind of magic connection between him and an assistant things just start happening in pretty much all kinds electing its first."
" Breaking out in his world. So is it a miniseries are ongoing there any series. We do we're hoping that it will become a series of mini series you know help voice dial cool and it's available to waltz -- against them. Nine dissident that you've got a bunch of stuff on a marvel so. Marvel. The big moral -- do. We got it. And I would demands. It's they got ages Alice on as happened on that's been great. It seems like we've been. -- some more readers every month which is nice. On. I couldn't be happier -- like Carla pack blinding department are just not in and out of the park. It's that's a lot of fun never written way ahead on them trying to like make sure I get everything done like I just wrote number eight this week -- where they fight. Someone at that they're really integrating having their really integrating into the general marvel universe whose articles he is different kind of characters and and we've got our kind of built in thing since they have to poses villains. Pretty much that guarantees they're going to fight everybody there residences comedian. Have to think anymore going to be a fight at a at a so -- made the saves Alice you -- re -- study excels book yet -- that's that's a bit of a weird kind of it's an excellent book but not its alternate universe universe book. Yeah I've been trying to figure out what it is -- that it's you know what I'm really treating it like mostly is lost in I think everybody really liked. That there was a big deeper mysteries that they didn't. They get little glimmers -- clues throughout so that's the way you I'm penetrating it. And we've got salvage as spinning Casey Jones alternating -- on it is just it looks terrific well. And it that's it's got the return blink which is a beloved character yes everyone loves blanket we've got to make and is not a fake link -- really -- a lot of pressure enabling him in the blink fans are diehard. And it's built around I."
" fans I -- and it's. I think these blogs I don't sure being incompetent I think they'll be okay but I am trying to. Play at the thing I never like when a team gets thrown together and are automatically good in because I just don't think that would work no matter how powerful everybody is. So I am trying to make it seem more natural in some aspects that the team. Doesn't click right away. So. They've got they've really got to find the way they work together. And -- may not necessarily be the leader potential -- in the story she's not. Clearly she knows something that's going on to the -- the exiles these new exiles don't and she's not telling anyone. So you've just got to kind of follow watch her closely and see if she leaks any thing."
" And nominee also working on now the good book right. -- act occurred about bracket on and fleshed out by Dennis on the past couple years so I've changed my name Bryant parker. So that I can officially right. Parker out and stuff but at you know I really think that's the only reason I got the job that they're just like -- this parker out ensued and get right this Parker's character arc. It's convenience of the name Virginia and that's just a demonic but that's a lot of fun because yeah. I like the mysterious I don't have to worry about anybody being noble. You guys like -- and I can just right creeps in this. Really refreshing after writing heroes all day now how hard is it to write a book about the hood and being and worrying about what that is -- within an avengers that's -- of -- Have to -- every -- can -- this blah blah blah would be -- As you'll see this the series is set a little bit before the rest of the marvel universe events happening like a minute before. Because some things will happen that we don't want to step on with -- so we're going more for. Just his his personal life bringing him back to being -- the park -- robbins' character who's also has. Now you know before Bryant on -- with a pregnant girlfriend now he's got a kid. And there's all this stuff like -- he juggling this thing. You know. The sopranos gets brought up a lot when people talk about it. And so we're not ignoring that so it's like yeah how are you a gangster and a family man and all this other stuff. He justifies a lot of things. He -- like a lot of people -- I don't know that he thinks he's doing good ideas it thinks he's he's he's as bad as he has straight he's doing it for the right reasons yeah. Ours just all the time like he knows an -- George daunting I don't -- that he would earn it the beach and music the microphone and under. It's that you are they aren't the indeed may artist about a vampire ever dark person on Buffy hasn't on -- like really loyal fans. But the kind of intimidated -- in this book knowing that they'd all be buying it."
" I had no idea because there wasn't a fan beforehand so I caught on that this after the book came out. And it was totally by surprise it was more the world when than I ever thought I mean. I didn't understand what the fan base was until I got involved with it and I was overwhelmed and in the sales speak for themselves. Everybody's was still wanting Buffy and it's sold like gang but. It's another special books that bring in bring people into comics. And so you know elected and only read comics but like Buffy sitting on picking up that's what I've heard more than anything else that this -- the book I don't read comics. But I love Buffy in this brought me in the comics I didn't think I could read comic I don't know what people say that -- I don't think I could -- getting to it like. -- out the simplest form of storytelling you can think like you can't get into it but. Muslims -- and I'm hooked and I loved comics in. Subsequently have been picking up other types of comic so that's always a good thing here that you're drawing characters that exist in the real world these actors Steve feel how much on how much -- do you take into -- try to make -- not look too much like they're real people but also -- attitude of the -- like try to make him as much is today look like -- possible so whether -- Successful or not having that that the reader. But they do it just was adamant about saying I don't want it to look like a photograph. But he didn't want it does seem like obviously there was a likeness but keep them. In a comic book format. -- was released didn't they had -- I'm not interested in. You you know just tracing the images of them I want them to be acting as character so. I took that and kind of played with you you've -- that Josh is written two daughters were written nudge as the season has been Stevens Stephen denying. Well a couple of other people -- so that's great writers to work within -- typically television writers yet on how has there been any kind of challenge were a TV writers. No they've all been great a lot of them strangely enough love comics it's amazing how. An underground thing comics are but when you talk to more people you realize how prevail and it is in in modern sculpture. That it didn't seem underground and also all these guys were aware of it of course -- big comic book fan. And everyone who tell me that I talked to that I worked with one of the writers it always get just would sit. In the writing room in. Sometimes when whatever was coming up he'd go off into attention about a comic book here comic book baton. I think. From jobs and it's just something and that it's there it's it's cool and they've been very good about it so so I think. So when you get special then how much of the visual cues are -- giving you versus how much are you inventing yourself -- of the strip it's an average today they they sort of dictate as to what's going to be on the pages a whole. They gave me -- panel breakdown but by no means they say are you restricted to this this is something if you can make the story work in. Four panels as opposed to the five penalties written down. Do that or it needs a few more panels do that so they've been very free and they understand that I'm writing the book. You're drawing the book I don't try to step on your toes so please if you can make it work in a different way. Do that. And and so -- a little -- coming up from from Buffy. Both so much and I'd be summarily fired by told. I know -- is coming back which in the opening Jane has its in his riding -- fighters who are. That'll be very good we'll find out from season four I think with the last time we saw him and we'll find out what he's been doing what he's been up to how he's been and Nolan himself. From there you know the whole twilight things coming to a head so that to be pretty good when it happens. Some more surprises I know everybody was surprised when they found Buffy in bed with another woman. That certainly not the only shocker that's coming up so I encourage people would definitely keep reading the comic book them on Garnett. Loving it a great great game."
" Our ankles that's getting thing is like I got. I got nothing against that doesn't weighed in that was it does yeah I told Jenna about stuff lined up and and I and I got it off like racism yet again. Greg -- you going to be Rocca. How have you that you -- there's goal and an award yeah I did and have might mean you know let me know. You interviewed -- all hell boy might -- interviewed him yet talked to him. And and -- straight as and Brubaker you have -- to. But we just out of on the show opened those great and and I agency was so excited to -- department envoy and I was like -- so you okay you talk to him as well deducted as well yeah awesome yeah that's right to get the tape with -- with the with the -- That that's a Raikkonen. We need to -- Okay okay I'll interviews on the air here I don't know. I'll be back well. So outscored the -- sought out -- produces right -- like. Decided to see this page or in the entered here and I'm and I get -- talk to Ed Brubaker. But he's not here."
" And I'm not gonna -- I really don't feel like waiting. I mean I thought I could -- I'm just gonna have to let this ago."
" America. So I'm sitting here with Jack from dark horse comics and I don't. And I'm I'm Miami earlier senior locked her out Mike Nolan I was just wondering. Could I get an interview."
" And you."
" It's not my job is on the line we had an injured they're doing that now just -- I mean. You know we -- relationship do you guys that are maybe it is up on and and it. Not --"
" Each holding it like I had all I doubt it on the -- Allen -- a --"
" On that question the statement added that at the question is that you know. But you aren't -- uncanny X man and the the newly announced dark excellent. You're talking about I don't what was announced. It was announced dark excellent command or there's an announcement that that dark xmas coming. -- thousand dollars right now and announce that shortly. There's no dark excellent there's no -- that's been announced. -- you take your piece of art and decided. That that piece of -- art means there's a new book coming up at the note telling -- idea ran I don't know if there was no announcement but there. So what's going on darker and in my in Miami read -- argument it's a more more will be revealed that the that this exact moment in space and time there is no dark X-Men book. There is an excellent book that I am writing a now that -- treatment thing right now moment now announcement that the piece of art but -- logo on it instantly. He is how final against that how people get excited -- you look at the like you're a dude like reporting live they -- network. There were no survivors. -- likely. That you just. -- educate -- so it's a dozen you got the avengers that's a crossover immediately read X-Men -- not with that."
" Hey silliness Matt fraction and Aaron from Marvel Comics -- to become the invisible Iron Man. Right now in the middle the story like -- world's most wanted and that's going to run through. 898. According. 8910111213. Fourteen it's -- eighty to nineteen. I Nazis Tony Stark. On the run from a Norman Osborne and hammers and after being at the king of the world now gets to be the most wanted man in the world. -- gradually look bottom rising himself as he's got inside his head all these important secrets and Norman wants access to including. The names of all the superior as the superhero registration. And how to work and build and design environments. That's very exciting and that goes until Iron Man nineteen. It's a lot of fun to write and their -- it's buckled and -- it's meant maybe you've heard of it. In which the X-Men recently relocated to San Francisco are trying to make -- you start on the west coast. And there's a lot of kind of different. Plot lines that are weaving coming together this is all gonna start to really climax this coming summer. And a special event -- avengers because utopia right now that starts with Al the issue that's Myanmar Sylvester. That's it. And then now and then -- for two issues that'll be mean in theory Dotson and is lovely what Richard Dotson and Justin consort coloring it. And then an -- be writing dark avengers. Just made it. Venom idea Dido maybe you've heard of him it's going to be drawing and -- be dark -- seven inning. So it's there's there's -- issue a special 3433. Page. Be excited super issue and then there's that the -- it goes two into you and in Iraq but the issue. It's gonna blow the doors up the joint and it's very exciting it's it's it's a great. Time the villa in the X-Men and now let's have it's basically. The X-Men. And Norman who's kind of run in the world right now are colliding if you been reading avengers and the annual X Manuel. Analysts -- we know that Emma is part of the football at this arrangement that she's gonna keep mutants. Out of like opt out on his way and something happens recently means you very much in the way numbers that in with a solution. Now there's been this mysterious image perhaps you've seen. Dark -- rippling around and it looks it looks to me if you look at it one would get the impression that it's am and name or more and mimic and professor X. What -- half. And and that cloak and dagger and outlet but don't let go all like to look around and he's still the -- so hard -- it's crazy. It even says -- and on the on the on the promotional image. So you've got questions about that and loyalty to you otherwise we're not doing their job that this is my my. My life mate Jason Aaron. You keep reading. So. So yes you've got questions and hope you you should keep reading and more -- more be -- the summer it's very exciting very exploding. Very screaming running people dying. Good times reporting live from the scene of the accident."
" I'm Matt fraction with five -- going news.com. Slash podcast dot org. -- Bills without it was like you really it's just you were here's the here's low and in his little David than just like Carol caliber days as anything in particular old school toothpick and -- like it that's me exactly and so on a dark rain. It's it's Roland are happy with this happy outcome and a I am thrilled by the reaction. Unbelievably happy. In -- people. Into it the other writers are. You know we we brought this idea we say anybody want to jump in jump in and you guys you know Jason Aaron and did. It -- fraction it will just doing. Really great work really invent that stuff. You know and we really put it out there that what we didn't want it to be it was. Norman's. Doing something and other outside. Norman has screwing something up every week. So we are thrilled that -- unique takes and it's the darkening of the marvel universe when -- really -- just a dark -- get announced. So I dug Pacman isn't in my book and -- I mean that people who want to yell about such things immediately went to an important element of luck with the island. Actually at night but a fraction -- light or dark and rain or anything see you seem to be the fault that I guess I got the regulars on this that political party targets men. Vendors crossed over the mats writing. Sin is -- dual cross over a fraction India yet. It certainly gives us. Eliminate excuses to an Xbox doubles it in now it's looking for reasons like rationalizations know it's historic conference. And you Spencer Xbox Live accounts it -- it's -- that."
" The locals saw all the Spiderman get re re launch -- Wednesday after the -- Canadian so I would do at a time jump how much of it is going to be an all lot of people love the ultimate Spiderman and are worried about."
" This -- don't be worried it's it's fourteen years later Peter's still high school nights it's. What what will happen is an innocent people saw that ultimate spider analysts elicited this month which is annoying to everyone. And all all but what happens is. We just -- that's ultimatum. And -- pants -- another issue ultimatums finished which is not. Chapel as he lives up to -- stern -- this one this one's on David finch a little bit only the warplanes but it would summons getting. The wrong way right on this a lot of things electable in depth look for and do. But that this isn't one of them. Ultimatums completely written -- disputes months and months and months ago it's this pitches on its -- schedule when. It shifts. That will be will be will be shipment gospel at school is the planting is not necessarily a monthly guy is able to stand the book them much longer. Arm without without a felon. And so where were stockpiling ultimate spider man's wallet goes so -- so I mean given the -- today it's gorgeous and it's common. I think Andrew speaker's committee and today. We're gonna put them hanging he should try and get me alive they'll Metallica and Vanessa. That's all he wanted to say it was a regular -- I thought. Like he should -- the book and then -- that point. He did say that. It's but yes. He got to connect the siesta in it it's gorgeous an old world already published and in which is that islanders -- ago. Will there be a big change in the book. We'll be change in the status -- of the book they'll be changed in the whenever his -- the worth status -- they worry and because you know but what's cool is it gives us the opportunity to do things that I've been dying to do. That just. Didn't have a chance to do because of the story you're telling. We're in that we have invented new villains do. Heroes new characters that will be debuting that this bill ultimate counterparts do. Real so in the collapse of villains from the old Spiderman sixties cartoon which I actually think it's showing. I'm Ronald dot com starting public this week so you take that out and see what we're doing and and there you go so that -- a lot of new things haven't seen before. Because of the devastation ultimatum and because it does psychological damage to ultimatum. Everyone's going to -- avenue. Place in the book so now."
" So when we -- thought the Baltimore last fall you couldn't say anything about Paris TV show now more stuff come out. He had -- it you know -- know the network now Al powers is that math facts which is brought surprised."
" Well not I'm thrilled they land on the working on the pilot the pilots not relay its kinda hoping somebody. Remembers by the body and agreements and immediately bad. Working on the pilot now in the pilot. Let me. The rats are girls storyline. Sodium in -- Brian. It's via recount that day especially acute -- Jimmy Johns. Coming out in stores or -- Native born. Right here. Well like give it to -- I hope so -- Jimmy John I am a fan of his image on our -- a huge fan image of that and but some good stuff -- I'm -- up to steal it from. -- There any sign. I'm. And this is the true life -- experience that the continent. So -- So finally just wrap up so when it expects more powers and comics powers -- be coming out this summer TIC going to solicit from late summer. What we did what we took. You know Mike. Got divorced and remarried and moved to Seattle there's a lot of all his life and he's come forward bottle that's costing. -- And but but what so what happened is we dedicated hours up and running again while the new number line. Starting later this summer and then what will happen here in shipment if they issues and issues yeah I wanted to. Guarantee that -- about where apple last night I always felt that that. People on the power was pointless that -- was shipping department was the case it's just -- and knows you know there's no one else doing it. -- So it's don't know it of that ultimately. He's Stewart and I'm on the TV show or work that. So rusty Kennedy had a million things yet I believe it's parliament believe that spider woman that I mean I I. Can't wait for you'll see that it is still gorgeous I mean really picture beautiful artwork and it wiggles it's awesome now we really been spending all this time. Chinese Government the language -- promises would really make it feel like -- like motion comic sir I do but I think that still are. We've seen a lot of comics that. Were intended to -- wiggling and and though it's all well let's quickly. Here that's looking at -- I think it should be and you know only be makers to movie here immersed in thinking about edited or. It's been made into it. And we want victory in so spider woman. Being created specifically for the media. And hopefully we can do and that way. Or whatever. New language of motion promises. And yet in -- on avengers in the means going to come on a new ventures starting that you 55 and I'm so happy about -- is pretty we and it's and do little to the ultimate Spiderman a little little more. I think that more realistic. So it's -- evidence look to it and and I. -- music. And the united so thank you -- times only. Think you guys you guys really -- president's -- Geysers. -- the one of the -- fan base loves you and only work."
" You do -- where the where he stands you know we always enjoy it so thank you so much thank you especially -- unit you know. That it. -- It was is of the law. Hero. -- for treatment right. Well that's all you'll oversee. -- that person you bought it. -- I kept -- witness in this --"
" At the I mean it's as you mentioned. That you've been. And I went to make comments or had a good news Albert Portland and I peca and it really gets so about the under the what -- And and then and he looked like. And and and and that's all that's. I'm only -- and and it's all those other -- designed I mean is that guy took bandits. Does -- imposed additionally. The Bryant twitter.com -- and write and edit and followed Demi Moore she's the best thing that's what it's hilarious."
" There's other convention and it's acknowledge god I love the show. It was great it was very it's been very personal. Very very lucky yes yes Vanessa we like it in the big cons and other -- Or got him but dot com there's a whole threaded discussions -- you talk about Clinton and you and other forums or revision3.com horse let's not ambling. Now thanks for pencils into your schedule we have a born again there is is going to be here."
" Yeah I liked it. And we'll. It's all the it would this all of they would visit by the camera. --"
" War."
At talents.
" It's -- really feels good to Salem and in due time extra five or six years and that was the first book where -- like -- really broke through whereas inning. " Well I'm here Jeff parker native Jeff concede that this is well a bit of a local company and yes it's a three hour train right for me at nights and of flights on Sunday nice big -- you can like your computer -- Hiding in the way.
Great ep, we are getting spoiled with these hour long interview shows. Loved how Ron called out Remender and Fraction.

Hey Ron,
Couldn't help but notice, but were you getting a little uncomfortable with the Matt Fraction interview? He really seemed to come across as a bit of a dick in that segment.
I've never seen him interviewed before, so my assessment could be way off.

HAHA I just watched the show and felt the same way about him. BUT, Ron had a big smile on the whole time and looked like he was just trying to hold his laughter. Must have been a little sketch. Seem to remember them doing something about a month ago and a dif con.

Wow that sounds really terrible if you think about it :)
I did like it how Fraction just took Ron's mic and highjacked the show for a bit....Then Jason Aaron came in and it went all kinds of crazy.

Oh, ok. I thought it might have been something like that. I had never seen the dude in person before. I just couldn't help wishing Ron would grab the mike back from him and stuff it up his arse. hee hee.
Although I have to say, I find the sketches on iFanboy quite easy to spot with the whole intern interview thing. Must've been really good acting on Ron's part considering his face flushed for a couple minutes. He also started off the interview with quite a legitimate question; not anything I would've thought would have been designed to incite Fraction.
What I'm trying to do is start a civil war of sorts between the ifanboys and comic writers. I want cage matches, replete with spinning piledrivers and inverted figure fours. Ok, I made up that last move; but it might be funny if someone attempted it.
Flanagan, I thought Joe Casey was really funny. Fraction annoyed me, as does his writing. ;)
