Alan Davis

There have been a ton of creators from the UK working in comics, but one artist stands out in the hearts of iFanboy, and that's Alan Davis, best known for his Batman, JLA and X-Men work
Alan Davis rose to greatness by drawing for 2000AD and illustrating the much legally maligned Miracleman (Marvelman). He began working in mainstream US comics with Batman: Year Two for DC Comics and Excalibur for Marvel. Since then, work on ClanDestine, JLA: The Nail and Fantastic Four: The End as led him to become one of our favorite artists.

Ahead but but one of the things one of those the most notable that don't work she did was the year two which is doesn't get as much."
" Clinton is you're too well that's the good reason because your your one -- was one complete story right to a writer and artist whereas your two. There was one writer Mike W -- right detective at the time but. Al Davis started dry and then he'd just. For whatever reason I don't know contentious Todd McFarlane a young guy. Just coming up him an opposing them -- wounds and that legacy that is the only he finished it and is is earlier atop a process not -- it's not tell us what you associate with expired and he also had so wrong."
" Gain the ability to say I'm going to draw like this it if you want to trees yeah and I had to work with in the studio system a little. Honestly it's what's interest stories and it's not known as -- you -- and there was nobody."
" But it does feature one of the most freaking scariest of terror designs I've ever seen -- he recently got a year two. And while back I was reading an ever being freaked out by the reaper -- reaper with two big settles for hands and like. But they'll resolve face will face a little red --"
" There are armor and armor and with slice linkedin -- attractive yes yeah yep that kind of armor -- and yet these kind of uses the master offense hasn't -- that that kind of designed."
" But -- really he really scary. Villain and that carried over to this. Bosom is actually original graphic novel her -- sides and -- but this sort of sequel but a full circle we've --"
" Spectrum then. The falcons full circle at -- but also I'm Davis and Michael Deaver yeah Elliot Anderson sorry -- didn't part of amicable. They were able to come back a ho hum so yes is that network really kind of led to his marble work which will get to the second but."
" Many came back in DC in the late nineties and he did AL swirled sale operation -- story that com which is did you think about some must prayers -- got. You have writers and you've got artists and some some."
" Artists become writers some minor stars on -- some didn't elect for the very actually very few are able to do I can do -- consistently make all the sales."
" say they really should hear the British invasion and then call that way yeah. Roberts delineated warrants again relatives on the few writer artist Scott especially if those guys -- both of clout as -- artists -- on the direct."
" A lot of people did that happens not that uncommon artist who very often take on the Ryder -- but. When you didn't go ahead this idea that and it comes out there's something really memorable good that's successful and again and are able to prolong an analogous especially with in the marvel DC kind of camps --"
" Having granted it has always worked out for him because we'll get to some of the books he wrote that or not very good -- to Africa. He's now -- three should prestige many analysts and Susan. -- in the long box -- And that's it was a seek to issue sequel. Another now. Narrative. That -- It's rusty and -- ruled story that was kind of almost like a marvelous story. Right it's it's it's. Jonathan Martha -- are driving along of famous road as the rockets it comes out and they get an -- tire flat tire stop. They miss that missed the space ship -- to pick. Hello a lot of -- and social world -- do businessman to -- and -- superheroes."
" So so what you get is yes slightly very similar in DC universe slightly askew. And so what you got easy yet the Justice League who kind of waiver."
" Oh there's no leadership and Justice -- does not want to keep Lex -- checks that he runs metropolis and there everybody really has -- everything."
" And more importantly there's no balance that -- darkness this -- lightness about the so in a gruesome. Scene in the first issue --"
" The joker basically murders Robin back I don't really gruesome ways that it takes pieces of pounds of flesh off the but it was. -- The -- to that emissions of us I think as the main zones and is for strong punches to leave -- there aren't just. Destroys me here is that Richard arms. Kind of crazy -- law you know is left -- and yet so. I -- about a stroke lead that they are fractured foot soldiers. Ago. On checks -- that no one to bounce them and then down winners Superman isn't that he's somewhere but he's not it."
" This is another story that you know when you want to understand he's universe take two format that it changed in the -- commandos are always sort of the best. Post world stories if there's so far reaching like you can do that -- Batman stories and doesn't really affect everything else going on there really that is yes. And and I was actually one of the first sort of things that I read after -- comics and I remember loving it because hey. His artwork is is. The sort almost imperceptibly nicer than everything else it gently and and Lou really doesn't just whatever it is a little not -- that you -- this is just it's just quite an idea. Drama today."
" That's the -- like when he did when does -- and I was she did more sweetest thing I'll buy it no matter what yes you know which is an historic I was really compelling about the Internet and being it was just. It is very debt to very."
" Sequel involves some random because he shows -- spoiler alert at the end of the third issue he's off he's someone else found him. And then now he's Superman sequel wasn't the Communists. The Mark -- that this equipment fitness is on as the Amish. Volume -- ruined it alone. The but you're right Al Davis one of those few people who see artist that I will -- He -- Barnes and nobody's business. -- But. It's what you gonna she's one of the few artists that -- you -- from the yards and let Kevin Maguire Tom Davis from that same period of some sort of similar clean styles. Of the guys that revived its long -- capsule mostly like must -- now now. Wrong -- to."
" Hear from -- without Davis. Because of the specific book properly. And maybe this city and had this huge year your opinion of him going to -- well we're kind of --"
" Hello my -- you Lulu comic love in my life then comic thing got me into comics into the canyon or someone that whose book called Excalibur. And this -- to shop on the story right here is. Vehicles worrying about trying to put -- right musician number one first printing in my -- more than I have. I was so happy when I got this diddley got its February I think -- like 25 months. Seventeen from these and it it. At fourteen years old I don't know why don't even look. How many days I got an acceleration number nineteen so I'm back but all the back issues -- Excalibur was. These -- in the late eighties in the X then there was a story line where. TV night crawler and Phoenix Rachel Summers gonna go to England. I -- and what about accidentally the X-Men. Fake -- deaths in Dallas and everybody thought him dead and so. Kiddie Kurt the macro -- and England hang out captain Britain and has gone from Megan. And they're no more accident and they they decide to join -- team in the form Excalibur which is like the British taxman. I love England with -- how many bricks -- can one really gives millions more elemental. This is max. And and it hit -- yeah its very often having -- or Russian submarine commanders but what and the and so so what happens then is that Al Davis and Chris Claremont or disallow arm and they kind of were turned back to the -- captain Britain character who of that he worked on previous in the early eighties. Com and chemicals Chris Claremont wrote a lot of all very kind of mythical stories in the early in the first funny issues only did they there was -- sort -- called -- caper which would have went through different. Parts of the marble multi verse. And on there was one of those mobile multi verse so it talks about. And they see different variations of this caliber team in the -- Nazi -- which is Henderson fight then and so but this is the booked at that age is the accident but also just -- Davis anxious the world who's the constant 616 yes what you want. Captain Britain's the Democrats that this -- well and then next round and a so the multi -- in that captain Britain. The Britain -- Britain course of the ones that didn't look over the on the versus them to remember that like monitors in this."
" Thought it covers a lot like Palm -- I'll grab all of covers actually yet or can -- you're talking -- earlier that covers. Are very -- Nice but there also the ball got a little jokes on yeah this this and Excalibur the for the first -- should we shall not. I think it was a typical Chris Chris Claremont book right it did not funny he was it was it had a much more lighthearted almost kind of fun vibe to it. And be an honest it recovers did have. Always telling a little skit or little Joe I think that's part of the time it's not militarily these guys if she ever noticed that figure who wore wool sweater and then -- the news of the time you have a lot of joking covers right. Dvd dvd to comic you know like that I was just I -- the time period."
" So and so on imports and then wound in his left Stowe Vermont didn't in my twenties it was a good film artist and he just fully -- Com and I was so mad regular wrote my little heart you have to do clandestine. Which was a teen book this kind of family team looked very kind of similar like excellently and I had clan clandestine -- yeah where they spies who network classes in there -- that there were kind of undercover and -- it was kind of seat in British comfortable war there was a lot of -- kind of mythical kind of didn't on the medial. Then there was -- threatening person read what came out. Because I was just a -- Alomar. He wrote drew a that was what it was first it kind of like -- I created this whole thing. Actually -- collecting it and it's going to be it's being released in hard -- not on the trust them hardcover. That has -- available -- the -- People and Allen Davis is actually returning to marvel to do it -- Clinton justices to 2008. So. Later -- that should be -- on the lookout for us and it's actually went back to really get. That clandestine he kind of went away and I didn't really. For a few years I don't know what he's doing -- time. If you're back there tells what you're doing -- but he came needed he -- had a couple short spurts of marble through the late nineties early two thousands he's on the adventures for awhile. Which was really. Nice looking -- I mean it was like a good -- I mean it was like who ate Indian vendor for some reason it matters to me in a different avenue vendors were it was very kind of I don't see simple but very kind of you know unpredictable didn't -- yes so the like like those that it's clean up yeah that's true that's but it's. Very long and -- thing. And then he they came to X-Men in the late -- to assessment where -- us are plotting with fading since. Com as well as draw on January so excited I was so excited and then he left. It was very brief and then he just keeps disappointment exactly in Austin that and that numb and he came in. I'm looking into the show I realized that the late ninety's to -- now every two years there's an accident reboot. -- really does and one of the accident removes -- Wednesday's going to catch you have to I think it has now but on unity in 2004 he he can't money he was kind of internal corrosion -- I want to -- we -- began. And he came on he redesign all the costumes were introduced and I -- touch with the -- in the middle and this is the precursor of the astonishing -- reduction. And -- and on the X-Men are going to be like god sent the UN sanctions you know kind of -- and police force I think did last very long again. And he left. But he kind of -- do it. Redemption with a foot more recently with fantastic for the end marvel had a bunch of series that have been like the the last presumably last story on the should not be confused with the last -- task force that was written -- army did you -- last year which was seen. Mess -- that. This is a six issue miniseries that kind of portrayed the fantastic four well for the future. Alan Davis. Like everybody has an affinity for financing for today's isn't nice thing he does a nice to everybody it was amazing and so this happens -- in the future. Denver and then all of us is both future this future. Well it's like he's. But yeah well that's part of the story is that is that would have is that amber and has retired -- Alicia masters lewd. On mars with their kids and Johnny storms in the adventures they're more more of a possible team. And read is holed up in a satellite and he's got this thing. He's working so hard and and -- who is going to lead moments you don't anymore. And but then this big cobbler and islets and test for come together along with the vendors and of course to succeed in their victorious but. This was just a great series like literally cannot know where these the end its books again. Kind of throw it is that kind of you know he would have been had missed the putt for what was funny -- one shut -- you know but then Michael the next and one month. Eight volumes -- But this fantastic 41 accommodation. His art plus he wrote a really good story that really was true to not fantastic -- but in the marvel universe which is interest and."
" Where do you think his his his niece lives."
" These security books yeah I really added I really think this is your team looked him in as and that he has the ability to draw the individual characters and in balance everybody give eat everybody. He's handles action really well he handles dialogue and humor really well. You know like it really Excalibur they would do so I was just recently I listened to read their didn't Michelle has become that treat their backs. And they re just as good now -- they did back when I was thirteen if not better and animal going to -- more appreciation for so. Jason we're going to slow the extra bucks yet that was kind of made it didn't hit and I and I don't know if it's more Claremont false. Busy -- busy drawing class. Story there -- and Claremont again sign."
" Yeah out is one of our favorite artist sees yes he is one in extra time which you and I really think he's another underrated he gets enough recognition -- yeah. -- underrated amendment not an -- mission is under it means he's not recommend me he's very difficult to deal with. I don't think so when it comes to -- time he's just it must have read and that's why they won't let go look at one of the reasons why don't seem a lot bet is that correct it tell us about bodily injury. Man into the -- to the support and hope not it has accordion and -- about that well you should have."
" And watch and finally this is part covers -- period. Yeah so on the so there's something by Alan Davis that we didn't mention -- there where it is to forget about our guts of the Enron but it doesn't indeed there will be you can email account and I am going to come."
" Or you can call voice though I don't want located fan boys just 3262697. We can take a pound Davis mobile phone calls or anything you want."
" Where are you -- in the here on is we want to put some food that is now. The answers to all of our various questions. I you know I think what are constantly post finish out Andy's blog post the pick of the week in the audio podcasts we do and younger than three dot com classic and we're listening to the forms that. I look at Britain."
" Really do well. Funny looking tonic -- that will comedy comedy all -- totally."
" Exactly -- Men. And the and fifty somethings."
" This is an example for a team and GoDaddy. Have a good idea companies who -- good -- and we'll get 10% off all your purchases and by necklace. When you head over to www.
