With Hellboy 2 hitting theaters, and so many great Hellboy and B.P.R.D. comic books out there, doing another Hellboy show seemed like the only sensible thing to do.
"Aw Crap."
Way Back in episode 40, iFanboy discovered the joy that was Mike Mignola's Hellboy comic books from Dark Horse Comics. Since then, a lot more material has come out, and Guillermo Del Toro's sequel, Hellboy 2 The Golden Army, looks like it's going to be a big success.
Josh, Ron, and Conor take a look at the trailer for the new movie, and talk a bit about the first movie as well.
Then it's on to the comics, as they discuss such titles as B.P.R.D. 1946 (As featured in iFanboy Mini #49), Lobster Johnson The Iron Prometheus, Hellboy Darkness Calls, Abe Sapien The Drowning, and the newest series Hellboy The Crooked Man, among others.
There's a lot of Hellboy to be had out there, and it turns out that most of it is very good.

I wonder if Kevin Nowlan has made more money off of that Hellboy logo than anything he's done in his comics career.

I can vouch for the quality of the Odd (Odder and Oddest) Jobs anthologies. I was surprised and delighted to see Oddest Jobs at the lcs last week.
Do it.

For a whole year's worth of free work, my internship gave me a Borders giftcard which I used today to order the Hellboy library edition. I've only recently come into the Hellboy realm due to the first movie and these two video episodes. I've read the first trade while sitting in the bookstore before but have been putting off buying them. I'm glad I waited as I think these library editions will be nicer to add to my shelves. I didn't even know about them until this episode. The second volume is slated for October and collects volumes 3-5.

If you really liked the first movie -- Guillermo calls this one a "rephrasing" of his take on Hellboy. I'd say it's lighter and "goofier" but then I have a hard time dealing with character portrayals so different than the comics. There's definitely more Del Toro than Mignola this time around.
If you really like the comic -- Before a fan and contest winner screening, Guillermo said, "If you're expecting this one to be more like the comic... there's popcorn in the lobby. Go out, have some so you have something to gag on."
Don't forget there's a new Mike Mignola drawn Hellboy coming, "In the Chapel of Moloch."
There's also a new short story collection of Hellboy short stories. These have been great. Excellent summer reading.
