What's in the vault this week? Cowboys in space who used to be on TV, hapless workers in a super-villain corporation, and a big, mean bully with aliens living in his nose!
This week, iFanboy reaches deep into the vault to pull out three books not published by either of the two big companies.
First up is Serenity: Better Days from Dark Horse Comics. Joss Whedon and Brett Matthews continue the adventures of the characters from the dearly departed television series Firefly as they pull of a heist that might be too big even for them.
Next is Maintenance, from Oni Press. What happens when you're the general maintenance guys at a corporation that caters to supervillains? There are probably a lot of third person monogoues, explosions, and shark men.
Finally, via Slave Labor Graphics there is Gordon Yamamoto and the King of the Geeks from award-winning comic book creator Gene Yang. The time honored tale of the geek and the bully who terrorizes him is turned on its head by sinus-cavity dwelling aliens, animal crackers come to life, and magic bakers. It's mind-benidng stuff.

I just picked up my Gene Yang books today from the LCS on Josh's recommendation. I think I got the perfect reads for my short rides into the city for work the next couple days.
Also, saw a book that looked really interesting but never heard was coming out before. "Yesterday's Tomorrows - Rian Hughes' Collected Comics". It's nicely packaged in hardcover and it looks to have that nice retro style I like from Darwyn Cooke, Marcos Martin, and Tim Sale. Was just wondering if anybody picked it up and what y'all thought.
Happy holidays everyone!

In reply to akamuu:
Why...why did I just see Conor shaving Ron's sideburns? Are y'all being sponsored a gay shaving fetish site? Or is this some subversive scared straight program, like The Rainbow Correction?
Actually, it was a plug for the membership drive to show that everyone is making cutbacks-- even Ron. He has to have Conor shave his sideburns rather than a professional and pay him in Monopoly money.

Man, I miss all the subtle subplots of the video show.
Also, I would never waste Monopoly money getting my sideburns shaved. I always pay my barber in hair. (Which makes me a bad tipper)

I am embarrised to say that I have read none of those books. :( I will definatly check all of them out, although probably Ron's first, because I miss Firefly :(

Either way, love the recommendations for indie trades.
