Wednesday, February 28th, 2007 – running time 40:10
It's the dead of winter in New York City. Can you think of a better time to hold a major comic book convention? Sure, we can too, but we went anyway, cameras blazing. Much like the 2007 New York Comic Con, this episode is bursting with more than it can hold. Josh, Ron, and Conor do the convention floor as only they can. Along the way, we talked to a lot of people behind the comics we love, like David Petersen (Mouseguard), Jeff Smith (Bone, Shazam), Jae Lee (Dark Tower), Paul Dini (Detective Comics), Brian K. Vaughan (Y: The Last Man) and plenty of others. So settle in for this giant-size episode and enjoy.

Be sure to head over to iFanboy.com to discuss this episode. If you have questions you can email us at: contact@ifanboy.com Or you can call us at 1-888-FANBOYS (326-2697) and leave us a voicemail. Tell us who you are and where you're from. And make 'em good, we might just read your e-mail or play your voicemail on a future episode!

" Nice guys we have bothered. Yeah -- yeah I got on the Internet. --"

" It's February that -- comic con. And there's a whole lot going on we survive the cold in lines of we finally got inside. So we're here to talk Steve and again mr. checking out the beatles' here. -- He added that he just keeps following us. -- And their -- appears incredibly now star -- an -- pretty yet pretty it so it's been everybody said that NASCAR has been the indie darling 2006 million in 2007 how does that feel it doesn't."

" Credible for a guy who didn't think that he had a job to -- comics. And and got a chance to do it's it's really heartwarming to know that the community is embracing book that is so different. And -- what I love doing did you did you anticipate that this would happen at all elected or where it but did you know that you had a hit and hands or what did come as the surprise I don't know I came as a surprise -- what I think it was that hasn't really loyal fans that were never going to get a little bit of like fantasy market people like sword and sorcery I get a little bit of people who like to keep. Things like god children then you can females. Wives and girlfriends and stuff. And and -- grandparents and -- that. You know I think I've figured he'd like -- market kind of thing I'd I'd have a small but very loyal fan -- and instead it's it's exploded and I how -- how -- has -- to keep -- imprint that -- pretty hard data versus -- its -- it's amazing we realize that you know obviously if you can't -- one we're not gonna sell any -- five. So. Our camp my public service was smart enough to say it will keep the books in print as long as the series is going. To make sure that people can catch up so we've we've got to do that quite a surprise you want to some -- pretty."

" Awesome so what is the tell about the decision about the size of the book is not the traditional comic size picture."

" I've been advised to what we do. Many comments. And you know the whole idea of many comics is that something you can reportedly given a copy shop. So. The idea came to review its NBC legal matters NBC letter sized paper -- legal -- people that becomes. Close to squared becomes wider than what you think. And that idea really appeal to me got me thinking about what the panel shapes would then become -- is in the horizontal panels became. Much more of an impact on each page and I like horizontal panel sounds like hello that's needlessly of American push that I didn't want to do book that was longer than tall so I decided square -- happy medium."

" I haven't held a time get an event in aboard though magazine bags they go ahead and -- in a long box just done that -- between your other -- and Orange County. Yeah so you've gotten a lot of opportunities to -- doorstep I mean as Hollywood to knock it meanders."

" Again I mean we've had a little bit of interest in Hollywood we're still talking. We just announced that they show actually that random house's. Programme and now division is picking up the soft cover rights is also. Times like toys right now has three prototypes for BBC news. On display and -- Washington. Would that hoping they have plans for other products as well it's going to get to be David uses it it's possible it's awesome I'm pinching myself every so often make shirts of the battle is well deserved thank you thank you so much has really gone up you rhetoric and so. I'm here with it doesn't keep 'cause your congress prisoners of."

" The usual jumble of miserable barely tolerable yeah that's it -- its its -- so far so good to profited from the real answer yeah. How would you compare this adolescent. Bigger more crowded and yet somehow more orderly as far as I know the fire Marshall is not closed down the venue yet not yet to five point in my last. So -- has been heralded for getting out of time everywhere every week which we thought it was a surprise. How to how to cut is that president. We just decide we've been putting out on time we had enough leeway. Did you do the work. We build a machine that seems to work I just wrapped up the 52 -- so for anyone out there who's the we wouldn't make it in your face. So I'm. It there was a lot of bad reactions of people filling up supposedly showing off your justly characters and Tom. When you're doing the book did you have any idea that you have observed just. The last thing about all the help we -- we were concerned we were doing bought film. We'll just went on the baggy pants and -- in the -- that you know that the fans reacted to the deaths of these characters. Kind stunning. This I didn't care that they thought. I just figured I can undo wouldn't comic book coming out but they'll come back with -- We here in artist -- we -- coming out. Co writer of the fantastic Jonah -- which we've talked about also assigned. What was it LA where do the idea that there was a hold -- western comics."

" We didn't came out of just and I just whining. There right John -- so we kept bugging the editor in chief there in the DO. Until finally he said okay do you. The character is now available because somebody had it there hold on hold on it. Says NBA. That pitch. If you're just didn't dissented as he was talking to me. I dissent that because -- had a ready go and that we got the book -- we just there's no questions there at that time there was no western comics and it's such a great Carrick there it's it's something -- you know when you grow up to Carrick that you love you just want to you know you want to -- writing it when guys have. They came -- just the love what it was before it. We didn't -- the -- we discounting went in and and -- take on it but it's it's very loyal -- what came before DP you know not the old thanks guys it. We're gonna it's gonna be upset we're doing we're keeping it very loyal to what we did in the the only thing is we yet we do have some modern sensibilities snuck in there but it really is just to die hard straightforward -- on. All the way that it definitely is -- it seems like you're attracting a lot alike. Different artists highland lakes are piled as -- becoming one of those things of people coming to you wouldn't he had absolutely I mean it's the since a lot since most of the time it's done in one. -- com a lot of audience feel that. -- That we've given stories to write this book is written a year ahead so I mean there's probably is using the -- as we speak it's all different artists and it's becoming like an artist look like people want to do it we say okay and we'll have we'll write a story just be you. Is it is the got a healthy long life and edit in front of it yet it's the sales averaging they'd stayed around level where they are now we of course we -- more. Realistically. The trade books actually. Back up make the money for the -- so they going to be pushing up the trades quicker. And it's sort of like that the verdict outside balm to the format where. Even though the boats even if they sell less the trade books make up for like the like everything's there and it's going to have a long healthy life that's that was promised. Let me ask you something I'm gonna go back you and Joe did marvel -- together and I really like you do get the sense of like that changed a lot of what came after it I think it I think it changed everything that came after because. If you look at the books before marvel knights the coloring wasn't as -- the stories were a little different let's you know intense and Tom I think Iowa and saying this I'm sure there isn't a lot of -- going on and I don't realize but we -- the attitude. -- event comics incident marvel knights wear. Let's paper better colors let's get the right right there. But the right -- does it not just put it guy that we have on the contract to write that book so we haven't Kevin Smith on that level would mean Joe made sense. -- to the priest and tech -- but that the meets its. That's -- obviously the best thing ever humans thanks and it made sense that we started looking at the books like -- the -- this thing. What would match up markedly brought in Steve Dillon on punish him you know it makes sense so we we got a bomb. Brought that sensibility and I think now you know -- show's been I think we just changed a lot of the way marbles. Comics were done now all the books they can't have -- nights anymore because every book became marvel knights in a weird way. And you know I -- it that I was at two years. When it finally saw that I did everything anchor today right now that this and I time meeting go on to something out and Joe. When its editor in chief so it was a perfect. It was a really perfect time breast ago we were I think we've really made a difference. With the company retains a lot of things anything good things came out of it I definitely agree and but since then then. How does work with you and you're adjusting -- I -- do you guys -- plotted than you do scripts there were like how we we both we will be gig we sit there and we. -- today's question how every story has ago and then. And then either want to write the script and the other doesn't matter either whichever one of us can do this when that went. And that we bounce that -- sort of become the tennis match we bounce back -- toilet and we talked up the dialogue we took out scenes we'd changed things. We -- bounce things around until we feel it's good to go it's so we always like sending email each I think if you like it you can send that and that has sent -- back a world. Take noted that you like it you could send him. And eventually we get it to the point where we both. I'm happy with it and then it goes out and then of course and -- and has his two cents. But we've been pretty good so far pretty with the editors say they've been. Very lenient with the."

" So. This is it is the second year -- the -- on your gift from here writes I think you're so what's it like to have another big can't hear you they -- in it."

" How well I didn't do last year as it -- account when she is winning on and I when I got and you know what I'm glad handing out does that mean that have shown up today by Vietnam -- I think it's good I think I think that if it needs to be bigger I hate. The idea that it's sold out and they'll be people with their kids coming from. God knows where on trains and it thinking they can walk into the kinds of art and finding out they can't I hate that that happen. You know three days sold out. But where is somebody supposed to read this -- a website you know I mean it's like it's sort of like. It's it's not like a theater production when it's only certain amount of seats people don't know this so. To have the fix anything hits a double the space to get everyone can and."

" Capturing female readers. That's that's we got a wrong right there they got to come willingly. Exactly that. That captured them. Hi I'm here that's Robinson -- tricked and box office poison hello everybody which if any of our readers know that to the books and talk about more than almost anything have from the the indie world that's -- it's. A -- what are you working on lately."

" Working on any graphic novel which is tentatively titled too cool to be forgotten which is about a I re living high school and because -- mine. This -- my twentieth anniversary of graduating high school like Tony -- accidentally reunions. -- coming to terms with you know back. Part of my life and that sounds very pretentious but it was a big inspiration didn't -- and it's you know. Exercising a lot of demons. Stupid jocks. We still got a lot of this is not done it again it's this sort of an obsession of mine eyes still some view everything in terms of high school and things like bats. You know."

" It's a cheque comes but I didn't even know for whatever reason Bryant and then one day -- Blake -- like. That was -- and and I start looking and you've got you've got -- entertainment weekly time magazine right now you know Nelson Mandela strict price and it just came up but -- know there. So I mean reason would you do it -- get reaction from that."

" I was really surprised that I really thought it was -- terrible you know sophomore slump that. You know -- pentagon wasn't as good as box office poison itself line. So I was you know shocked and stunned when it did as wells did you know what's his second ratings fairly quickly and you know it was all there you know. Won awards it's all very pleasant. They're not and I have to roll that out. Yes -- expo might excellent this totally you know bothering you terribly south here -- have to. You know magical run to last forever eventually beat the tide will turn against me now will be driven out of the comics industry -- you'll."

" Still it's you find that you get a lot of fans of the books who aren't like that don't either don't read other comics or nine like. Tonight on your books are really good -- but that's that he consciously try to do. They can't."

" He tried to do it I do you get a lot of people who are like go you know. I'm -- guy in my -- you know she's won this one of the few books -- like to -- it's like a lot of the white -- girlfriend contingent so. It's not like line what we don't -- and that's. Eyes as they consciously do you know I'm glad it works is you know. There's I think women generally are -- very big. -- ignored demographic."

" Still one of things actually on notice by short that are really liked is that. When you you drop people you'll -- them in any state you know their various -- statement that yes -- really honest with their bodies you know you've got the thing we drop like a naked person that looks like a -- naked person even -- it's cartoon gap is is that -- had to work -- Mean because -- in the when you figure drawing you know those perfect bodies and all that stuff."

" But actually when there's an art school I was also surprised to find out that a lot of the models -- at work not so. You know. The video the cliche you like you know Playboy centerfold saying there aren't you -- like a muscular guy like -- we had we're just like regular people. And even like people you wouldn't think of as being like an ugly. We'll see below its funny pages. -- Interchangeable heads into it seems like a lot of people that evening -- could just a lot of people do those standards bodies so my wife also is the one who meet meet. Here because there's such a lot more females gaming comics she's a what is -- like every time we show how -- You know email naughty bits you have to show male audience it's pretty equal opportunity now I have this reputation as a guy who loves drawing Cox tonight -- and domestic box you can -- unauthorized email or use that okay."

" Okay we're here at -- she Paul -- indices us on her idea grassy pond mine had a good time in New York you still feel good -- are about that. This time in New York -- city the -- there and."

" Yeah just six on Broadway. Yeah aptly name -- you let this thing."

" It's -- I could get thrown what did you think this segment. We did yeah. The so. Hasn't done the -- to San Diego got their last Don."

" Yeah -- still everywhere -- the table and the city daily. It will get around yeah. University of Michigan is -- when you never -- yeah it's the big."

" Yeah the --"

" The jets as the punch any account but traders this time. Yeah every day."

" Yeah. Yeah."

" We'll figure as you very die we appreciate it a busy guy but."

" Yeah."

" Yeah. -- a problem for daily because a couple of sleep for hours little -- I think it was behind series which is. Another look at its books come out this memory that was the reaction to the look at the concert. It's been great. I was really pleased. Was. Losers -- trepidation about bringing this looked pretty good it's alive and I think fans to be pretty look at what you gonna go first but evidently your own. Well I just knew that no matter how it to the characters. You're gonna be some people that weren't happy with -- How do you reflect your doors reaction when you know that's gonna happen you -- he's not putting."

" Not pay attention to it because. Do you go online and check out it was comments just because there's there might be something zionist. And there's actually an instance who is. -- There's now -- sides on a belt buckle with an eye on it and then mention on the dark tower dot net that's. -- hates the horizon though and he would never have it on his round and so annuities and saw that on. On the side. He actually called me up it says -- we need to remove that time. So he had to go back into -- that we see the final image it's the guys like down. So on the on the alternates gets cover weren -- CBI but in the colored -- it's it's like."

" So does lose everything coasters didn't care how does how does it work with -- yet does what. When missile projects started his ideas and plots what I had to do was get this enormous book. And it was like how do you bring it down to seven you know seven -- most of these six -- we just couldn't do it veto it but we got to cut out too much -- that is unique to really convinced that. And down. When I first and -- and it is Steve as well as you know I sedative marvel what else have. Have got to send it Steve to make sure he's a candidate because I that was my big fear. But he was great and he's like yeah I know you you're on the -- sister on the BBC thinks it's okay so. Announcing he's been great stimulus."

" Reported this designs of letters about reject terrorism -- we're trying to keep it very subtle literary hiding place and like even as quiet as possible let these guys show ended and the stars I'm just drummer in the band are going to die after this episode and you know -- recently taken over after me. You can look at that very withering go to bed. We do that all the girls. We're back -- the negatively from company resources and pipeline podcast they -- I'm doing great this -- are you sir I'm buying an inning and where we're deep in the bowels of the top floor. It's very deep in the far back and in a corner that many people -- so zero season time dollar patent is confident compared to previous ones there well it means obviously better than last year's gone and that we actually got to the door this year the family -- could not so bad except there's a major signing in the fan boys all congress."

" It but -- it's tough being used to the more aggressive New Yorker because how O'Sullivan -- some trades a foreigner here's a guy who has a long series of long boxes would treat an area. Everyone goes up to the box and you kind of wiggle your fingers through look at the covers. In a box about halfway through bucks and a guy comes up to my left and -- going through the same box that saint Thomas hill president and his mate and -- personally this is not really good mode -- you should -- a guy have a box personal space rehearsal space issues and again this is New York so there's not much I just hope my fingers -- see what's going to happen and he gets his fingers up. To the book just before I am who and we stopped there for a second I'll make -- because I don't want to think of Mexican standoff -- display just shook my head that the vendor behind the the -- saw this -- shook his -- I just walked away guys. I didn't really be my fifteenth copy of a savage dragon archives -- one."

" They were here with -- Newton that's an idea and author and -- he's in his Jennifer yes I'm what do you know and since then. Actually the book got the -- for -- it's called my -- cruelties that troops in Cleveland. It's my first book callable at. When he took over yet they got a Corzine's crazy times to switch over idiotic crazy adventure in the final in the and that I actually get to -- multiple. Re really I doubt -- resourceful I heart marvel. That that nobody saw let me ask -- question when I when I first read Jennifer night. It was that he was a lot of anger in the pages was that that kind of humorous that that's ten plus he's working retail that's different and can even evenly them the end this stupid holding it covers just. I control talent that's BA star resorts in New York and mortar bombs one of our teachers. And he writes actually -- Introduction in the book. You know -- is -- an artist that so easily reflected his artwork has personality. And he's still angry."

" Now now I remember. In years past you're cured you had shots of vodka all the places that got them this year -- of course."

" And here Mike gave my domain at -- comment on and Graham got my sketch book. In San Diego a couple of years ago I asked them for a sketch in major walker from powers the major media eyes. And he doesn't -- and mouth in 2003 I -- chin so the united that a comeback obviously receive I get some analysis and visit us here. I'll call her in this minimalist gets fixed -- Then at that time -- ship their -- have yourself. That's been great this has been awesome and it's really local or your Jersey yeah New Jersey so that for me it's you know that's an hour but I so we'll stay in the city just because. You have to parties set you know when it did this show and the party and and drive home inside an island Jillian a lot of privileged enough might apply there. A huge reaction coming to play publicly because that's about it projects horse powers Britannia. And and now my new book the my sampler which will be coming out in August heard about that you David Peterson the end defiant or none at all. That we're actually we are making an effort it does help promote each other so that's also a -- and there hasn't thank you so much --"

" Come over here and zero hey. Remember me. I don't latest film get a -- the party rocket ship in Brooklyn you Brian Enron thing. Thank you AM under the -- number and hope that man. In connection kind of thing."

" those kind of yeah and I mean I imagine that -- again and then okay I gotta go."

" He doesn't -- organizers have put it. On volume of army the regular number. A heated don't have good I don't remember okay okay cool thanks."

" Also."

" I am here is Chris and Brian from around com."

" Say is that it. And then I haven't done economy and hopefully not snowed -- hopefully not exactly as adult travel difficulties there is its giveaway today and that's on that to get away maybe a little slow so what has been the highlight of the conference at the highlights."

" We're. Have computers that were here to planner table produce some benefit work and you know Saddam's -- like Greg Erica and seeing colon. -- and -- Gail Simone and actually have -- you know more than a couple minutes of face time with them under -- how does an era that we have we -- that we have a couple. -- So on so folks ought to check your podcast that or to Leo. WWW that are on comments that come. And yes do it is too weak Darren is doing -- nips it is a review. The last week's news and newcomer releases. And then Thursday we too either topic discussions creator interviews we do. -- we tell them that detainment episodes Cummins one of one episodes that it's just kind of an ass grab bag of stuff."

" Definitely changed because they wanted to play in a different you know slightly more adult venue and I wanted to tell murder mysteries that wanted to tell stories that we're a little darker -- little sexier little more violent and had yet it is in some ways the same bat -- the same approach to to crime solving. It's the same format of trying to contain all the adventures within the AHD big small format. Tony -- pages are supposed to 22 minutes. And and really that's a challenge but it's ultimately satisfying when I can tell mystery story and wrap it up like that and still throw the readers some surprises and and that's a problem that I haven't thought that there. I'm having a tremendous amount -- that but that said. Because he's our mystery stories and I want the mysteries to be credible. A lot I sort of over the grand idea for storied and once we get to the writing of it help realize that forgot this flu like this dangling at that -- it to break up the note cards. Going to cover at a tire wall in my office breaking down every element to make sure they all you know. Linked up together you know what's nice shark -- reusing the site's host of this size you know and doing the research and everything and yeah. -- by the blue here there and everything but when it all comes together at the scene it's seems seamless and it's ultimately satisfied him. I think he's a distinct as you've got the one in -- with -- but you've got to have an undercurrent of a story -- with the -- going on is yet is that true or -- this speculating yet you know that's that's something they've introduced the sort of an ongoing thread and I don't really know winner or I'll get around resolving debt because the more you as the -- The more I like him as this trying to jerk that Batman has to deal with he can't thrown in jail because he's done nothing wrong. -- he's -- of this crimes he's a huge pain and assess he's almost as smart as bad man is in some ways it's obviously deal with them. And I never really I can't really recall that and having to deal with the with a detective on a regular basis could. Show up and prompt them or or -- steal the limelight when you look like a rivalry -- yeah that's pretty good it's been great sound makes up to your kind of a big name here -- he's been wildly successful -- the follow -- I'm already thinking taken this decade but I Iran must have been nuts. It -- the challenge you know it's like. You know I can I can -- the mechanical bull let's see if -- let them really climb on sale on its -- when he first came to me the idea of doing like a weekly comic series and that it would be involved all the players in the DC universe there was kind of a little leery of it that I began. Plane -- and seeing how it could work out and I was thinking like if you approach -- like the way we did. Like the Batman animated series where we would write like 52 episodes is the season -- over you know. We get an order for 52 episodes he could we did break them down. And come up with like an overall continuity for some of the stories and and have some standalone so -- we -- some other characters I was thinking. Maybe we could do this and it would be a challenge to do it like the way we did the animated series maybe not the same tone news the animated series but take that kind of working approach to it. And so far you know hopefully you know I won't because myself by saying this you don't get this worked out pretty well yeah and we are we have the entire range of the DC universe to work -- We got the major players coming in and out -- concentrating on a -- you know a number of supporting players and sons -- have some stark characters who. Either have her own book concurrently or have their own books. And it's a morbid it's an interesting combination of characters characters you would think -- going together but it actually throwing them together finding other work kind of well together we'll. So I mean with fifty Julia had Johns and rock and Morrison and and I'll wait on -- and other other writers doing it oh well there is some great writers on it and their outrage you know and again summer kind of up and comers but they all that impressed me with their knowledge of the DC universe and their enthusiasm for these characters. You've got you know Jimmy coming out in just been great my word you're going great guns on and on -- and -- they're doing. Uncle Sam freedom fighters and their doing. You have to so many things have been at a beach in new. -- really impressed me with this animation writing in his work on Justice League the Justice League adventures. And a Tony Bedard. -- on -- they're all just. -- Mostly what they do is make sure that the did leave the books dovetail together occasionally I'll come up with the idea for gag over expanded character beat but basically it's been so solid that. You know I've been content to let go because it's very important to the original writers have their voices coming -- Hollywood guy. You've got comments zero only thing going on the right so -- taken over the next year yeah let's see sell a shower getting gig or something else like where has that. Conflict gallery for you married to DC for the next year and I'd say bring it on and on top line up my time for it somehow or another you know. But I think my wife disbanded after the -- You know what you. It's fun it's challenging had to actually you know it this is my job for the next year so putting -- putting a lot of things on hold until that. Because I'm really enjoying the way this is going -- just have a great time but that doesn't -- Bryan cave on -- the writing staff from Los yes did you give him any advice or do you have any advice for him I know he's he's doing a great job and I asked him how he was enjoying the island and he said. He was evident terrific time and we've -- these stories. And I think he's settling in just fine and has -- he seems to be enjoying it looked so you can you -- frenzy to tell us you know they have no idea what to do at a loss -- they have no idea what the ending is that just kind of they give up as they go out right I'll run there is a master planned communities story -- I -- I'm sworn not to tell what the big story -- all right polar bear will sharpen in it and kill me but. You know. There there is say there is a master -- so thank you so much secure right. We're going to bring it."

" Up -- going to mature things a lot -- in new Reuters also. From the comics Blogosphere. It's going to be terrific I think you gotta love the new focus -- getting rid of video games -- getting rid of anime Ricky volume because there is a portion of the market that's intra city and that that. I hate to draft anybody else you know you didn't get the gig."

" They -- that somebody else. -- out now we think that it happened just countless we've been done yet again -- now now you don't know still still the pipeline we can't."

" We need to be a long time convention veterans like ourselves. You learned that there are certain types of people are continually showing up to come on whether it's San Diego or Toronto or Seattle or New York City this is the same -- people make it on the top floor you've got your you've got your quarters to people who are gonna grab anything from any -- free as -- as not mail them to put it in the -- walking within the big shopping that you always see a -- that create. There's I want to take the picture with everybody in -- cost impossible yeah exactly then there's also the bombs were kind enough to bring their kids and I don't know what's going on here they're actually pretty scared. Let's get towns and I will wait in line for ever as long as possible to get us get from some guy who did -- and then you've also got the he got the patient girlfriend or boyfriend -- not really in the comics but the scene of another is that another year there that's all waiting in line to get a sketch and give a significant other. Not very not very cited. Now that's a guy like dad. There's the there's autograph -- the guy with four long boxes on a luggage cart dragons from boot the boot to get signatures on every issue of -- to -- extent -- only hear from three to 4 PM. And it flunks the whole thing down in front of the guy and everyone behind it is off a mine that I. You back on the east coast now UK like -- if you look this conflict there ended like some bit like Cindy owns yeah I love -- actually think it's better than San Diego just as it still it hasn't -- raped by Hollywood totally you know it's still purely. Comics convention. There's just its New York to get the New York to discover any any good books player here yes I -- and I got look at individuals I have. The plain Janes were just coming out from the news -- I thought it was fantastic as a huge Jim rugs hand from street Angel. I get to just cramped in the image every week but -- covered. So it's great -- just try different ideas every week. And the covers of -- is -- the highlights of the of the whole run in my opinion. But on that you felt a lot of pressure from the weekly book I mean I mean I know that DC has been heralded for actually making it every week right on how much of that on your shoulders wrists and the rest of the team that sort of thing if you give our. Really overnight again covered timer back luckily I had enough lead time on this I was in on all the planning sessions with the writers so I knew what was coming down the pike. And I get scripts pretty much as soon as their brood -- I've been out -- hit the whole way cool and and I just look forward to the next one since -- been so lance and so once are you done had you done with all the covers our store side to live together excess -- it's all -- you -- Stay away from the -- order. Is that do you have a preference for on while my heart belongs to the original which is a -- and -- and that's what I like here it's it's I'll. Very important goal for me from day one was to get more people reading comics. When I first used to come to these shows it was all. Thirty year old guys and there were no women around and I like women. How long women around so. That's been a big push for me to activities going to try to get comics out to the public can get more Republican in here. And is off as a whole generation of coaches that were also doing that not just me and I think it's working and."

" We're at the end of an economic and you get that -- toward the ground and shot the party was not a good idea last night and all -- I'm -- we need to get -- this is fun if -- very successful second effort yeah it's been done but. They're on the right track and it did not actually that much better than last year sounds very very it was a good experience -- things didn't nice guys -- general -- doesn't exist but we talked it was really nice. -- the David Mac.
