San Diego Comic-Con 2009: Part 1

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009 – running time 52:08
The San Diego Comic-Con International is upon us again, and iFanboy takes to the floor of the mother of all comic book conventions to talk to the most talented folks in comics once more!

Segments

This is the first installment of iFanboy's 2009 San Diego Comic-Con coverage, and we've got more show than we can contain this year!

Jimmy Palmiotti and Darwyn Cooke start us off this year in their hotel room before we even made it to the con! They talk up their upcoming collaboration on Jonah Hex #50, The Last Resort from IDW, and Power Girl. Nothing bad is said about DC Comics.

Jamie S. Rich chats with Ron about his new noir graphic novel, You Have Killed Me, as well as the upcoming series, Spell Checkers. Then they share a moment over a certain vocalist.

The biggest indie hit we've seen in some time is Chew from Image Comics. We've got writer John Layman and artist Rob Guillory talking about their breakout hit, about a cibopath, or a man who gets psychic messages in the food he eats.

Longbox Digital Comics was on everyone's lips, and we caught the man behind it, Rantz Hoseley (who also won an Eisner for Comic Book Tattoo), to tell us all about it, and share a special something with the iFanbase.

Matt Sturges is one of the big up and comers at DC comics, after years of co-writing Jack of Fables with Bill Willingham. After collaborating on an arc of JSA, Sturges will break out on his own with JSA All-Stars. We also check in on Fables and the non-stop Final Crisis Aftermath: Run.

A San Diego show isn't complete without a visit from fan favorite writer, Robert Kirkman. We're talking Image United, Haunt, Invincible, Walking Dead, and Astounding Wolf-Man, and it might even get a little off topic, in this mega-sized interview, complete with big manly hugs.

Make sure you come back next week for more SDCC coverage!

" Well yeah."

" I've -- was brought to you by godaddy.com and diverse media."

" Like half the girls -- have wings please I need it."

" I am here which are coming out it and aren't cut howdy. And yeah and though it's a lovely morning news morning thanks for -- In room. Now if we slept it anyway. Now you guys are doing the fiftieth big issue of of Jonah -- a little while from now. And that's partly it's December that -- really quick when you've got a big issue like that -- you've met somebody really. Great artists that have been on the book and everything. Would you cured are are obviously close and wanna."

" Wanna do the big book together well we its fiftieth issues. Not only. The first thing just and I have ever written. Up to issue fifties and that's press it's also you know the big year for -- actual movie you know stuff going on but. Fifty is that the issue is always a big deal and we just felt that the fifteenth issue we just couldn't get the normal guys that work on it and we went to don't cook as we need some brilliance we needed to look brilliant and and we need you know our books are always about storytelling and we kind of on the artists we shoot for her heavy duty hardcore. Sorry -- and -- if we get a book at him every year we in other words George Renee wasn't available and it journey was."

" now notice that's. That's that's -- I don't know he's -- any issue ads that are so yeah or printed these two routes on the outskirts of this. But yeah we we figured you know since. Nobody else -- used and dollar and we figured we'd give my job and -- here and there and acts and it's got. He's got he's got to eat otherwise it comes out about it outs and that's eating so yes absolutely."

" Now fifty issues on a western. On and on on mainstream companies that that's no small thing I can't think of you know in my -- time when step up and what's what's the secret."

" Well they the first time axiomatic happens and that's pretty good -- attack the long time ago -- time at the secret I think this is the gist from. Respect the audience keep challenging itself with -- every story you know you don't do the same old thing over and over. And again he's a wonderful character and so it's kind of easy to write these stories I I you know -- I paid the appeal of it is something that it's it's just like anything like -- says it it's I just enjoy it -- every write it for ourselves just and I write for ourselves. And would let other people are enjoying it in the process but we don't really write it. For the audience. Exactly we kind of keep challenging ourselves and you know that that's something that happens afterwards we kind of kind of -- those first and then."

" One of the things about China -- that I find is that. You're always putting him at a crossroads where he's about to do something. Honorable or despicable and and legacies like the rule the choice has to be that yes it. He had to completely honorable thing you just can't lake so you find yourself getting -- at a crossroads of the care to go well we have -- have to do this because you know he's not a good guy."

" Now I you know what it's really easy to write him because he's like what he does is this -- and shoot I'd like to do. Like hill Jones instead of talking that it guides issued again had. Would be so much easier instead of you know getting in line is pushing people out waiting walking it. -- he you know you kinda get another character and you -- know how he's gonna think. You know this honor and some of the stuff he does I mean but at the end of the day he's -- real drunken blasted that is just trying to make money off other people's misery you know putting other people out of their misery he's not. He's not a hero and any sense of the -- he's he's all about himself I mean it you know beat the few times we haven't actually collecting about the what's the first thing he does when he gets money to instruct take -- war. Okay now who wouldn't wanna do that on a daily basis I mean honestly every Thursday we got paid a paycheck. The Ryder truck that we can't get trying to pick up -- yeah so it's pretty easy to write that Erica Erica."

" I think that. That he's tight security can just insinuating any story so what I find who is the stories are interesting. And you don't have to figure out may -- what Texas gonna do you just put him in this story and he's gonna react to the situation around. So I find a lot of it has to do with the characters. And the plot outside. And then he's he's like this agent of arbitrary. Misery that that visits visits upon you know whatever story --"

" It is to tell you just head the last resort -- also departed a cigarette yet covered by Darwin. I don't I don't make this there was like a surprise like it was a zombie book that was really just didn't."

" Well and it's you know it -- was we were trying to look at it is not so much as army book as opposed to. -- killed bunch of people aren't really big nice vacation island because I haven't had a vacation two years and it's there it's it's exactly and -- we worry we get to meet everybody and you get to realize you're part of their lives and then we get that for the heads up and rivals mountain. And and you know we we. But we look -- it you know I like -- development I actually and I also like to read. And I just feel when I buy comics these days I read the minute minute. And in nothing drives me crazier then Mike you know fight -- and a guy goes. Oh yeah and a guy goes let me show you where I live you know and and it's like eighteen pages of that and you know and and that they'll -- splash and as is that what went girl that slow task is if it was me of tissue paper. When it right. These chains -- hole made it out. And that I'd just like I just once they can dig in and read and it actually is fun and also. Because I goodies that into anything you want and so we sex we have some violence. You know one I want we don't have sex and counts anymore is really not much much less obvious -- that lowering the comic art. Archie are evident Nazis that in the eighties when -- and a hundred votes a hundred votes right. And it's a very limited -- out -- so. So we built it up -- and are -- production and and them. Basically. The set up is the first issues a lot of senate and then the next four issues we can replace that."

" I don't notice that like the design and covered everything -- what does it look like an army book and so. I mean for one -- like you're not really going for that zombie now shaped thing and so that as -- as one of things I really -- as a terrific on this isn't like those those things I mean. For the seventies movie -- like oh well it's so many zombie but let's be honest said as walking that. Mauled it -- obviously it still -- that and now DC is due in zombies."

" I mean let's really quick and in the grip on that zombie train and not the end these it's just like this zombies everywhere okay. There really aren't products come up from a company with these days at. All I'm saying it's it's just like. It seems like. This is trend here and then they go over there and do it now. I'm expecting next year to see Marvel Comics do -- Thursday -- to music you know saint is just to me it's like it's just a tennis match back and forth right. So anyways and millions on the books sort of thing even I at the back. I'm not up to date on that these these obvious that I'm not sure it's really zombies or it's just. As it will. It well it's Jeb is there and it. Good -- so they ego and you know and to that right if it if something's good even know what's being done I a lot of people that stands out it's good that it's a welcome. And it's a welcome thing -- and speaking of of DC you're also you're doing you're empower -- yes yes and Amanda and and that's a lot of fun and Justin's you know and how to make them. That book not about boobs which is what it is the a lot of people want but you do -- when your life is about groups. India where I don't entity -- to. Now I idea. I don't -- you know it's funny because of man the -- Ed that stuff before I welcome back me up on its Amanda will go in -- push the envelope in that way way before I even get there and down. So that's wonderful about her and and again we have a woman. During a comic so all of a sudden we can get away to a more because it's -- doing it. It's it's a very it's it's sort of like if the pro wasn't by Amanda it might have been trouble at a table because it was by everyone it was extras. It was extra dirty but cargo it's not about the oops I mean the first issue we do little nod his. Jeff Jeff for this or issues that demanded that of a power. And those are amazing and those are great hustle like gangbusters and we kind of look that would -- that on there. And said all right Jeff really hated not hit the nail on the head. On how this -- should be done and we we just look at Europe which is pushing it you know beyond. Yet the story had to stick to now now it's on an -- book and we need to establish as a fan and you know so far so good I mean we're only three issues out but the fans seem like it so wrong."

" The that you're going on the we need to mention I love these economics I think that you did I I want to make sure it mentioned that and you -- these. -- So you got a new book here you have killed me cracked -- with Joe -- yeah debuted at this it's actually on sale everywhere on Wednesday that it. First place -- most you've got it was here in. And so it's a little bit of -- Norris but what he tells about it the day it's both John and I we really are fans of the hard boiled crime John interestingly not it's backwards the artists read all the books like that Chandler -- and -- and it -- I was the -- is a big fan of movies so I was in his visuals you isn't there writing com. Beside -- want to do that kind of thing and 1930s. Private detective story it's a terrible locked room mystery where is a -- time disappears. From -- no windows and only one dollar. And her former fiance is a private detective now in her little sister tries to hire him to find here is she supposed to marry another man and a week. It's he starts to go through then the rigmarole of finding or discovering all the dark secrets that are hiding in. And when I was really impressed by the book. That's just look at it was kind of how the mr. kind of -- new characters and -- the story -- now yeah I mean it was kind of fascinating thing for me it's a right because when I discovered as they got into it lies yet you really does have to sort of point -- main character in a certain direction. Get him to -- other characters and each one of them what happens on the news that will send him in on his way and so economy. Naturally progresses out way to where everybody gives new information in the east and a follow follow the trail and in. For awhile I didn't know I was answer who was going to be that -- Brittany and I had a couple of multiple ideas and I was like it's gonna leave it opens the where it took me itself so I kind of discovered it with him. -- have you worked too well before October is -- over what I loved. We'll look more romance the -- it but how is that the right up more of a mystery or detective dinosaurs it was very daunting it blurs I really get advice from outlying examine my favorite books is just an industry theaters that needed for -- and accent so I'd never really written that plot and even before the relationship stepping all over and he said don't worry about -- pick one and then just make your characters and so that freak me out. But in reality -- I sort of started to discover was analyze it -- it -- characters had gone to in my other books including my novels was this thing is searching for something whether you're searching for her romantic. Partner or your surging real purpose in life you're trying to find that that woman who's disappeared. It's that idea -- I wanna stick by certain ideals I want to. To make the -- world work around me even though it's pushing against me so once I kind of figured that kind of stuff out. On the net figured out how I was gonna do the narration. That all sort of fell into place I mean it. -- you do well to keep working together he has -- looking at the town we did we we took created a series of -- sectors ancestor of young adult. Morency high school comedy and magic it's about three -- and take over there high school. Guns so we're we're gonna have French artist that Nicklaus at -- day. Do is. Really really talented and is gonna surprise a lot of evils that he's done in the main but parts of the book and do well is doing the covers and flashbacks both barrels and payload. When they're little and they're actually learning about their powers and starting to terrorize their town so. It's gonna IPS series of several books and the idea is he had just keep the comedy drawing no no learning -- hand everybody stays bad that's that's. Mayor gone so well that's fun and it's more aimed at younger audience. It's you don't want those things are younger audiences are gonna find it really funny some -- might not -- It's you know if you enjoy movies like headers and mean girls it's and that sort of variety or where should hopefully go all across the board for you can read it and we'll. Excellent so quickly go back to you tell me you -- I share a lot of musical tastes titled the book conspired MRSA yes and I and actually think that I was gonna get asked that and I. I am and everybody seems to know that song in bulletin shorts and or -- I and it's like I thought that was aggravating attention to him still but they I had a title it was gonna be called the big empty and that title is movie a couple of years ago so -- exactly -- that I had no title. And one -- I was walking home in listing the song and actually had been hanging out what -- colonizers in the song on. You've killed in the accident. They scored what he's -- hammering comics on your iPhone I am."

" What do you -- and I verse. -- media is the leading conservator for -- on your iPhone they've got a great new release on their iPhone Abbott's version three got so we can -- not a lawyer comics the one single lap and watch and read it when everyone's still. If you purchase Thomas drivers before it works at the new application it's pretty awesome you wanna check it out good drivers comics dot com. And they've been here as they did -- economy Aaron's -- made some news yes -- about Archie there was a -- they were they announced that they're watching a digital comics library site with our for Archie comics it's a great way to get kids like her nieces and nephews or cousins -- little ones are reading comics. This is Archie digital -- comedy check it all out there. It's amazing yes drivers the future digital comics and arrive on an online so be sure checking out diverse -- dot com Archie digital -- and we thank them response and is episode."

" Pioneer John -- regular hey guys do today. There -- a little -- but that's networks become god. One of the big break out books image is for that's you know Lyle has been -- What's it been like it is shows must be pretty pretty great it's it's it's I've never at a time like this we had a stack of hundred plus that they're planning its second printing sold out on the first day. And now outrageously priced first for earnings they're going and he's burned there is it yes I do not more sketches and had me."

" Yeah I definitely need a -- No it's been awesome -- everybody's kind of into it and it's it's very surprising to say the -- but no it's been awesome so this the last of them so I it's nap time right so now I."

" I guess one of the things that that stands out about Suzanne it's really interesting and unique concept. That I've you don't see -- looks very much want him. For pretty good don't know -- you explain what you wish it. Tony jail. Is they had detective. A federal agent who gets psychic impressions from the things he needs so he can. Eat a hamburger and Steve how being slaughtered and where the letters was raised -- the -- prepared. Or he can go to crime scene and either murder victim and tell who the killer is. Though that there really short icons that is cannibal CSI. Okay where where'd you where they -- psychic food -- thing come from we -- just popping your head one night when your have a meal I don't know I mean it's that. It's more than those of us as you'll see in future issues it's a book about booted and it's -- varies. Food food centric look and that was just an aspect to it that sort of came into the forefront of that out of this -- I never heard this before let's do it but. Where the specific -- idea came from no idea. And the world the way you remember now the world that live ends up a little bit -- it's a different world things have changed things that the FDA is the it sort of the big powerful agency because of the -- of -- things change you keep been like. I'm not it's not post the violence -- different world we live and just keep that in mind when you're designing things go through it."

" Yeah and and it's it's. And the little background things which I'm very nuanced oriented. So I I have like little -- and things you know in the background kind of anti poultry at things like that but for the most part it's. It's not incredibly futuristic it's like you know John -- says it's always like three or four years away from where we are now. But he future issues there -- few. A bit more futuristic things popping up. But for the most part I think exists and I light. Modern stuff. And I think that do well so it's really not that far -- I think the world to see some of its -- which is just my view of."

" Yes -- know when you when you're the idea -- it did you visit thing like this. That'd take a little while wrap your head -- to drop some of this stuff like that the the food flashbacks."

" Absolutely. Well before I when I originally heard -- high concept I thought. Well what that you know what. What is this. I mean he actually kind of vaguely explain it to me in terms of your first you know satellite with the police procedural elements side by poorer and things of that nature. And I thought well that's on -- boring but and then use that like whoa -- and it's it's a guy who gets visions from from -- Like what. And then I -- I was a big fan of Boston some of his previous that's I thought okay let's let's see what's gonna happen. But as soon as I read this script it it was very vivid I knew exactly. Well I knew for the most part I wanted to do it."

" Good to -- I got like a book that that."

" It looks really adjusting it and on top -- really using concept."

" When he's targeting pages back to something like that we've reached the screen is exactly right yeah yeah and I want it I knew what I wanted. From an artist going into this because it's kind of horrific. It's a different artists that make it really ugly but it really unpleasant book and there are."

" Ugly and unpleasant things but the fact that it's drawn in and."

" A light almost -- opportunities style like that it makes up for some of the more or being forced to eat flesh that -- to get it fun and it makes it funny and we want you to enjoy the book rather than being like brought down or you know if you're nauseated you -- laughing at the same time. One at one of the things I like this books sold out. Like I don't have copies of selling on eBay for a lot of money that's very unusual for now it's very usual for an image look at it than it. Right and then and then you got retreated in the back of of the walking dead I mean as though we're on our third reprints."

" Of issue one which comes out on August 5. And it's already sold out added distributor level. Like massively sold out so it's gonna be like a Russian red line like I don't think stores we'll get. Everything they ordered and that it's nice to meet demand yes yes it's it. It's not nice when your readers can't get your book here and so this Robert -- minute Eric Stephenson propose the flip book which. It was before that you madness and really didn't like. That sounds kind of crazy. And now it's a good thing because if if people want it to the book and couldn't get it for a long enough period -- sale paper and it you know I'll move on to the next thing. But by putting 30000 copies out there. Afraid. Granted as black and -- so it's not the real thing but at least you get to hear what you know everybody's talking about. Now how long is this series going on for how -- you planned out. Well I'm saying sixty. You know I I love preacher LO YI. Trance mad and I I'd really like. Update it's got to end it and I know the -- I never write a book without knowing the ending right. But you know I'd like to take my time with that and you know have a nice long sort of you know epic."

" Some air -- clear on the top floor I don't. I'm too -- Iran could see again -- is well so why he made big splash couple months not years on announcing long -- of the public and got a lot of people talking about it how how is that reaction been. It's they're fantastic and it's one of those things where we we certainly have the perception in the back of our heads that this is gonna be a big thing in -- people would. Be positively inclined towards it and -- it would be good thing. But I I don't think in our. Most kind of wild and boy a you know imagines. It we would've anticipated these the kind of positive reaction that we got I mean. We've been in into -- four hours after the -- panel we ended up. -- You know thousands. -- on Twitter from people who weren't there were talking about it we had an article go up on CNET. Last night. Talking about it's. Which was very very cool because a huge part of our marketing plan and our. Demo and plan is reaching -- mass entertainment market for for digital entertainment consumers and so. There really amazing thing to us was that we guys over a hundred and I stopped counting at that point -- weeks of the CNET article that's very and in following -- back through the -- those who work from comic bands and those those were firm either. You know digital or tech blogs or different bands like that so. The it's really been fantastic to see the work it out it's been it's been pretty insane. -- we were just talking earlier how do you budget panels here at -- apart but it sees it every penalty go do every -- three and people are that the buzz of diesel thomas' that this is like the year where it's really a force. Yeah I mean it's a really I think kind of perfect storm situation where there're so many different aspects where the technology has become really you know and -- a perfect state court. You have a situation where the direct market. Needs expansion. And it needs alternatives in terms -- our reach it rather than trying to keep you know getting that efforts that -- holing people into you into the comic stores. And -- here really is a situation where. There's been so much that's been established between groups like Netflix. And Hulu and I and iTunes Amazon digital content. Where people expects now to be able to buy digital contact him and there and there are really -- scene you know very loudly the fact that they can't buy comics. In digital -- waited they buy TV shows they buy movies they buy music you know that so I think it in the publishers reactions that we reflect that as well."

" So -- with all the announcements up this is you know it's triggered a lot of opinions from people about positive negative you've been very visible in terms of reacting -- you come overnight -- but I founders on our votes and on other sites up like that how port is the connection with the fans and explaining what you guys doing to make sure everybody's on board."

" I didn't see it I mean it it's it's. In some aspects the -- spent fifteen years in in game development it's in some ways similar to launch seen. A game platform we you when you bearded like that every random -- Sony and Microsoft Nintendo and backed candidate Sega. Where you have your core base you have your your your enthusiastic evangelists who. Who loved comics are passionate about it we want to see the media and grow and and really you know. Live the good stuff. And as a fan myself I totally understand that and yet that's that's a very heat. Does that really marketing issue that the key demographic but -- but it's it's a key group because that's gonna be yet the initial group that. Really either response to -- says this is crap what are you know I can't relate to this I can get into this so and the reaction from them has been. Really. Insanely positive I mean not that the Internet -- Turkey people but but but but but but. There are people that -- you bash things. It's none of us know anyone like that on the Internet at all at a but it's -- I honestly expected. Higher degree steps. You know. Andy's been really gratifying and and really rewarding. You see the enthusiasm on the band level -- We're very excited to get the to get the beta build out and get the final build out every. Once that was my questions and now we've heard a lot about it we -- double panels Weaver -- talk about when do we get our hands on it when are people gonna be able listed to download their comics and use long boxes as a viable concrete amp the beta will be available next month. And around September October we will be -- seen the first. Candidate for people to be able to you purchase comics and you know. Have everything that's. We've been talking about and actually have it. And there's there's I -- my biggest frustration is there's some uneasiness. Things going on right now I and I can't talk about any of them and our CEO David Turner's over the area beat you with a stick by -- by. Leak information that I may not supposed to do it but. It's."

" It's free mind boggling. This is deadly is ramping up a couple of notches to double weeks well I'd although Arafat offense and not have what -- you are. Waiting with bated breath or to come out so well I'll I'll say this for all the -- fans. We will get should be a coast. They got we got it thank you very much sir thank you get it at at best route the you're an idea. There's some ideas for its new website -- I didn't mind here."

" He's been on my back up. Held off. We're down -- that at its. Top. So you need to register those domain names are set up -- web sites you go to our good friends at godaddy -- We want to thank responses episode. They've got tons of great offers -- together revision3.com cordless godaddy. Because I can't wait to see all that have a coupon codes. You get up percent of doctor ordered dollars and -- there is only bundles possibly through your dream. Like -- gonna die dot com he's going to have. -- It's over there's the dot com -- godaddy thank you responses -- and I'm here at."

" That's -- decided that and a great barrier on good you have a whole slate of stuff going on now that this. -- say that you were doing with with the Williams and changed up a little bit monitors and now. It's a new -- you'll be doing."

" It was always intended to be that way okay it was always intended to be two books and what we ended up deciding to do long before we even start writing it was that initially. Jeff Johnson's going to write up and sell the -- split into it. But then we talked about it is that having more fun if bill and I co wrote. The first are with the -- saying how that all came to be is gonna work really well together as co writers I've heard and we've done some of the things. And it it it came together really well we're real happy with that and and that what that allowed us to do was set up a lot of things in the stance say Iran they're gonna pay off. In the two books as they as they slept on the road."

" Is -- they were just sitting there playing out ago. Jeff wrote to many new characters -- we can't fit them in one book is you know I can't speak for DC editorial but that may well have been at."

" And you know there there are so many characters and a lot of really great. And they some of them don't have any back stories. That there are just things that -- and is you know infinite creativity just kind of made up and and has left you know. Left us and we're morals to to work with. I'm really thrilled and some of the characters that you've seen in GSA. That's kind of not had a chance to sign yet. They're really gonna get a chance decided especially in this Al stars I'm taking a lot of the younger characters -- and so these are going to be people that. We'll learn a lot more."

" Out very quickly you get disorder that up and comers who are learning what they're doing expect that. -- that's been talked about a billion part of his books coming up forever and you're just now on the verge probably by the time they see this the first issue will be out right it's it's gonna be -- next week but like gets and -- the next what is. As a field and get the book come out after just it's been hanging around at the."

" Coming out of the first time we talked about it was that San Diego last year and -- video walks up to me he's walking on the holiday -- has -- I -- let's say say them like aren't you I love. Dances like. And any just disappears and then that's all I -- for -- you know for a couple of weeks and then we -- it's been almost a year today since we started talking about the thing. Is very much a relief you know actually it's finally coming out and people can finally read it and hopefully like it and keep buying it."

" And he also just wrapped up the great tables crossover yes that is how I mean I see me finish writing now while ago but it's now it's all done. We'll what did you think about after it was all done really happy with the whole thing came out feeling that we wanted to."

" We yeah we spent talking about that last year as well and that was something that that Willingham and I you know got together in one of the things that that bill and I do. His least we get on the phone -- to start. There I had to inspect more than -- what makes us laugh but makes -- think you know should we do that can we do that -- let's get away with that and that was sort of -- this idea for this crossover thing. And I think the folks at vertigo. Pat always kind of thought it might be able to do something like that but we always said we'll now in the if we think it's something that'll be fun we're not gonna do it has to do it. -- him over this idea and it's as we thought it was you know it's really cool -- a really simple way to sort of bring things together. And it sort of move artists around the -- characters rather do things that that -- be different and interesting and I -- came together really well it's so much fun writing it."

" I was really neat way it's sort of talk about the ideas storytelling there was a lot of things about writing in and how stories work involvement in common unit. Madam I don't regret that I and that kind of way it's ever worried that you're gonna get too insular stuff like that."

" Well here's the thing that you know that's something that some people. You know when we are doing -- we are doing a lot of -- characters the liberals and they were. You know sort of metaphorical concepts brought to light. And sometimes we got real medical excellence that we have did Jack doing things like addressing breaking the fourth ball and doing funky stuff like that. And so I think what we wanted to do was kind of -- bring all that stuff -- ahead. In really. Let it. Kind of explode in in I shower of medical sexuality and then kind of I don't spoil the ending for people have -- the cross over yet. But then the kind of you know descended on its away and it hasn't were and so what you're gonna find them and Jack tables coming up. Things are going to be different in the technical world as a result. That is gonna have very serious lasting changes in how we tell stories and Jack tables and what the book is light and if you read the crossover you saw -- Jack Frost is Jack's you know love child. He is going to be a major player than users."

" And then you just finishing up run with -- lives I guess with a -- announces that it can't say about maybe getting out of us a lot of fun -- me because. It's just getting worse for the guy and I would think. A lot -- protagonist is somebody is a bastard it's not a lot of hundreds of some reason uses to you finally get the end of an issue. Like coming up it's like -- did you know what's gonna happen all the way through it because each time but it did ringer."

" It was that kind of thing where there is sort of it may take events from mandate that demanding it was always like Howell. How much can we do with this -- how how much of a jerk and we really had a very long conversation and how much of a -- we make this guy -- Before you become so unlikable that no one would wanna read about him. Because of what makes him so interesting to me is that he is really this kind of lousy person and you get to see how a really lousy person. Who's totally self interested and maybe not that bright in and he's got superpowers how it's either gonna respond that situation. Andy's got you know like a bunch of people after having and so he's running for his life and it surely hilarity well let's do it it seemed like it would have been a lot of punishment. Yet it it was absolute blast and that it was great because our editor in Sadler. Gave a lot of really good creative and play and Freddy Williams is doing ours is doing a fantastic job of making it really kinetic. That's another thing we -- from the book was that we wanted to be always in motion. That -- like it if it ever got to static you know you would call me an ideal and you know just and I think this has to be moving all the time and that's something -- that's I think it it works. Really well you know as the way came together -- Freddie doing yard and and I'm real happy with the way it ends and I think that that people do. Were. Hurt by the martian man -- demise. Will. Appreciate the last page of the series not that I'm bringing -- at a record is it an abrupt but it's there's --"

" Negative cookies file into. But there's a nice moment."

" We're for an -- chat with -- as the -- Kirkland item. And because he sometimes more than we summarize what Ozzie I think it's been a year that was a -- Janet took the New York in June but -- rationally. Right not officially after accidentally or hang in there and on the streets of new York and late at night over partners play -- it's crazy. History that that's. -- But who knew what. And so on so big news here at the comedy with working the -- project I got the -- on. All week popular. I was happy -- 'cause that's like the super team of artists that you're north and."

" And it's like everybody just such as the that is kind of tapped the page as we move along and we actually has lined the pages up on a board and an agent race and dislike. -- page and an attacker a couple of and you know. Fantastic on artists like a thousand issues that's coming back to comics and doing RO layouts. So that's pretty awesome and then -- the artist he does -- invincible. -- pretty good. -- sang here he's doing the pencils on the series and then atomic parsley is coming in he's going to be in the book and Tom -- it and it John and I created characters. And what it tells what when he tells the character in the book -- a -- stamp one I've basically. Basically about this super awesome. Us by it's like an espionage book and a guide is trying to save the world any totally eyes. And -- like -- back trap actually gonna save the world but I'm dead. And zillions of haunting his. She'd be brother is like this washed up priest alcoholic that. Skip the worst like in the world and they're completely estranged they don't talking eighty each other and he's got to work with his brother -- he's gonna say -- only person you talk a little blood relation to -- work. If from a manual -- of the recently in a disease that benefited but. This is basically looking back and he's able to enter into our physical realm through his run there in the form of -- of plastic shells that. Forbes is superhero suit and does landscaping."

" Difficult as little a little ST nozzles super very little assistant has -- James Bond Mission Impossible meets. Analysts. Note flag stitched back Hollywood speak this is there is there pottery scene -- Yeah and -- illegal Mexican -- it's -- accident also rated but but. -- so are you Roch are you enjoying the mantle -- got to get comic -- come back to draw comics."

" I mean I don't know sure what anger on."

" Yeah I'm not gonna say I think -- do whatever I say -- here -- Behind that but I'm -- I mean I think it was time I think that. I mean I think he's very discouraged any Chinese came along at a time that he needed some convincing -- That is trying to cool now Symbian and all tin -- and we started on it before he entered decided to take a response we're already doing on Newsnight on -- comics thing. On this and get back into this this does yeah like this that's that he took a respondent. Yeah he's been doing that the wheels and now he's going to be drawing issued 200 -- on which I'm very excited about. So -- she's already been drawn his character and image united -- you drove in a lot of working in the united which I completely forgotten despite its. Enormous banner and that they can make it look like a hundred dollar -- that but look."

" hole and it just. Saying pregnant and -- it's -- of an area problem itself is an agenda of -- look here at the Condon and it and it's actually got early state. It's coming out November. November's and you don't within our users heartening yearly acts of excellence that is going to be. But it's -- mean we're. It's it's really cool because these guys are all slow because they're all geniuses in the room meticulous and the -- but. It ends up being like one issue is worth the work for all the guys. And so. Even these guys can get an issue on two years. So we feel we're feeling very good about this it's gonna be really don't you don't you written and redone with a pretty much I am in the process. I don't worry about LB got there about four minutes. He Maria. Right. And four minutes it's gonna remains gentlemen that the event whether it's popular vote is the hard. Did he do that needed to add days to -- incident and warned yesterday and they comfortable."

" simple. So invisible this past year's day bloody year. Probably save an additional working through some issues key to attack them then head butting alone as a -- but that's the target."

" It chunk of it and it. -- I wanted to show like -- I X you know holds -- I'm gonna kill this guy can't leagues you know completely killed Adam he -- she's totally dead right. But. You know. I just wanted to Charlotte guy just actually. Cut loose end. And I couldn't couldn't Amazon does on the broken that -- had thought it had a -- let. That happen it's just repetitive -- I should point out that this year comic -- my voice. Crack down it Thursday wow that's that's what do. Yeah Robert Hartman of puberty exactly exactly the argument you just get worse that go through puberty and you know and I -- more and big big -- armpit hair it's turned into some kind of big fat -- main thing it's awful. It has a summit dressed up like they incidents. That a materially and we're excited kids that coming out of its. Spoil it for anyone hasn't read issue 64 of invincible. And polls and McCain are gonna say it he last winning and I mean it's not dead. Right which were -- they."

" You pull the wool overall prize -- but he did it."

" I find -- I don't ever give anything away it's going and it needs that I spent like a year ago line. I am particularly this is a wizard thing I am an academy of and I said he told them all -- Twitter when I did it people like. Yeah. -- That gave my trip away you know I tell you it's gonna happen it's really gonna happen right -- down. We're gonna explain -- can packets finally got a lot of cool stuff coming up according walkers do that you think -- 6667. It's gonna be focused on Nolan. And on the alien and nearly all kinds of space it's gonna lead into the -- war which can be big thing that's going on around you semifinals need to double sized issue but it. But not coming up and early 22 and we're gonna be doing invincible returns number one channel covered it David finch. But we're still not one shot lake -- returns to be oversized these stories that we're walker and you're never gonna also read T wow I'd be -- Hot cocoa yeah. --"

" To anybody else but. -- that's a quiet because in the story you decimated every city -- the earth is at the screen -- 3% of the space and then come back and everything to be facts that the --"

" Easiest time doing exactly that you brilliant and I hate it or hey I totally am I'm I'm admitting that right here next job. Am I thought that was like a cool thing little million dollars -- they're not gonna have some time -- and to -- There's going to be some stores to shop -- and buildings to see an end. You know."

" I have finally summoned right. Fortunately the walking dead continues to -- on walking people expect from walking dead jumping the shark yeah -- we're doing now. It just didn't get the ramp the good of the."

" The Washington very -- and when they get to Washington they're gonna final walled in civilization. Pocket with and politicians. And house wives and families and it's gonna it's -- it's a game changer to game changer. Terry Stinson overhead that it -- and about that game. Like nonstop failure -- the net -- Todd -- didn't shoot videotape that it -- but. Actually he's -- he's in Atlanta little -- again which brands aren't Austin nannies is it was a good mayhem. The demand. Taste it again these he -- he killed the robots. -- like to see it and let it. This is running a little packets isn't it and it'll. It's expected and that she added that there is literally like invincible and walking dead and -- image by. So anyway yeah. These are gonna basically gonna final table as an actor you know they've been living in this hellish world lower seventy issues. And they're going to view. -- sanctuary and it's going to be everything that they've ever wanted. And they are. You know some people are gonna be able to deal this is of people -- to -- the Senate's you know be careful what you wish for it's just my -- and."

" And what I think that your -- than a -- says something to go bad start sending everyone on fire but the biggest spontaneously commodity analyst I hope. In an ice cream cone and I think this is there worker mentality and I believe. The -- so you got anything else double that we have heard about her -- wolfman is ending."

" We -- we got that story coming up that has been set in motion to the very first issue. We're gonna go back and we'll tell you everything that happened why it happened why he was chosen specifically to become aware wolf and what plans those that cause they had for him and it's all gonna come together and nice neat bundle and threatens story I was late. And I could do something -- at ten and I just don't really you know all I can top it's -- and start thinking about it it's like. Go to your own comics and ideological tomorrow because I enjoy what -- do it. Take the time that it was benign hobby is the time people spent on the page I'll put together and -- my life. It can't be in the basement door model boats anyway up this is more productive compound lady. That -- guys on sale -- hobby at the daily woodland. Wouldn't ducks or something that you do not already in the backwoods area. -- we usually just have been fights at night. The grizzlies -- acts like to. But the and Kentucky government I'm gonna look like -- and fight. The guns but. They shake when I move them -- Kerry going right. -- green food area. So where let's it's a story I don't think we can top it's time -- it's time to exit and and ghetto and I don't waste your own books and and in times and realized they have these other ideas that -- wanna do have a that the delegates Jason Howard and I keep doing. Everything wherever -- never going to do anything else and so I'm unclear in that slot. And we're gonna be doing something them -- tonight about that people aren't gonna blow people away. -- him completely okay yeah. Yes that was a little more rapidly -- the business."

" Yeah I can't you move in closer look at it -- had gone out -- about. And upload it's that if he's. So anyway that's all Larry ruins. Mullah salaam. That's Vegas has been a year now an image at the holding a partner and Alter and we had here -- number last year so that so now -- a year later how you feel about industry had him. -- at what images doing."

" I don't know how -- feel that the industry accuses. You know sales aren't doing so on on the top. You know twenty books and there's all this talk about you know come -- selling less than all on the economy and in the toilet that's not good retailers avenue real rough out there and you know it's it's it's not it's not the greatest time in the world for everybody but images going strong. I mean we we actually had -- coming out now and biking and mayhem and -- lot of strong books an image nine it's right this year and on ten. And I -- no complaints I'm happy with everything we're doing and I'm really pleased that she was turning now choose a fantastic -- I mean honestly can't -- it in conflict. People really need to understand that she used. -- twice and successful as walking dead was its third issue. And and its its now its time that your book now is always hear people like walking gantlet of by like thirty back issues. In advance and pain in the I don't know pain in the -- of trying to keep it clean but. Did. Glad -- vikings absolutely amazing we're doing our brand new format. Bring new format. The gold image format for the but it doesn't fit my bags and boards it hasn't announced I did the special -- Back to. Trade it after bouncing -- issues that but declined to in the art on this. And it's it's gorgeous actually gorgeous at -- Brandan Wright van every in his lower marvel and DC did in my C Mac good writer. I can tell -- a little bit of an exclusive here. We get lucky its -- through his book with you on the backs and looking at 64 is going to be possible with vikings number one on the -- so. Go out if you're already behind 64 go out by 64 did get a little extra for free so they say the same cover price and I think that's later it's it's a big forty page book expected -- and it still chewed on nine Q 99399. XM -- But now."

" We get into our -- redacted but. But to. -- a recession. These guys are fans are having a hard time. It's it's tough times out there let."

" What better time to raise prices right now but we'll always make up for. I don't know what's Hillary back what it."

" Just this which -- a fantastic but look at it's all in good fun right guys exactly. It's don't don't interview me on Sunday in a lesson learned about that is noon. And so do you really think it at."

" What are expected to anyway bullets are all thank you so much again as always gonna play that well. --"

" But -- but yeah. A quick these used to -- and judgment I just got a letter ten days ago. For me better and entrances them. Find electric boat and notes of friends and for she exits and with carbon papers underneath it. Believe is different though than from Ecuador yeah -- amendment. Now they actually at a time machine easily go back in time in -- carbon."

Literally wants you will want -- anybody it's a comedian and he has. This sounds stupid mistakes and don't Oilers we're walking by people are coming -- my autograph and Stephanie -- That's getting John ruling John -- com -- is -- the plugin is to get but brought along and guess. Critics here -- nine. Your like a popular company -- she's just make any sense of all people friends yeah. This again I think he's like forty but it's the only way that makes -- that it could not handle it. It created let's get water on it right and you wouldn't -- because it was high res and then people can't answer is right and -- and aunts and and it like print and wearing -- stance.

Awesome awesome stuff right so you can at least some gold oil companies -- all the oil rises early and covers 1990 bottle orient. -- I don't everyone else that this congress is that is the equivalent. And we're gonna be bringing invincible shield costing background agree that the original colors and so it's gonna be bold new for invincible yeah we'll go back to the original number the next month.
