Watchmen

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009 – running time 36:40
As Zach Snyder's film adaptation hits, the world's got Watchmen fever! This week iFanboy takes a look at the book that brought on the hysteria: Alan Moore & Dave Gibbons' Watchmen!

Widely heralded in most geek circles at the greatest comic book of all time, Watchmen holds a much vaunted place in the heart of comic book readers. For years, Hollywood tried to bring Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' deconstructionist super hero murder mystery to the big screen with no success. For years Watchmen was considered unfilmable.

But no longer. Riding the wave of comic book movie hysteria (and big profits), Warner Bros. and director have finally brought Watchmen to the big screen! And thus did hysteria ensue. The initial teaser trailer release caused the general public to go on a Watchmen buying frenzy, and 300,000 copies of the book flew off the shelves in the second half of 2008.

This week, iFanboy takes a look at the comic book that caused all the hysteria. Is it, in fact, the greatest comic book story ever told? Does it live up to the hype? Is it still as relevant now as it was in 1986? And how do the guys feel about the up coming movie?

Hurm.

" It looked like employees on the show my name is -- if I'm wrong and and I'm Josh. -- I -- just what is the year the watchman what do -- to say that the movie will be out very very soon it is. If not the greatest graphic novel of all time and certainly. It played dead the upper Echelon. It's highly anticipated film release. We've we've we've talked about or talk about some of that work we've never actually. It's a little bit about -- in an effort -- act up odds yeah yeah yeah only a few minutes which. So folks that are everyone's talking about it people never read it one. It could be very -- in the trailer came out of the book shot up to the on the Amazon charts and number two bestselling book not just combat aircraft now book."

" And what would be a little intimidating for a while on a new readers of things that -- moment."

" Well I've I've long said that this is not a book it said to me -- good good -- comic. And I think that. It rewards the reader on on further reading the first time so much expectation there's so much. A claim and hype built up about it to build up to such -- and I and I you hear that popular like red no fight but if you keep reading it. Again I know it that's sounds that you know but but it really is worth it but Tom. Let's ice was you should talk a little about what watched and actually is it's got kind of storied history it's definitely. Neat story in in comic books -- you."

" Hugs hope so you might have heard of -- warned Dave Gibbons Alan Moore come for greater opinions come cars -- British. The did a lot of work in England you know she doesn't -- and the other two that may be. And they were starting to come over across the pond he's more for DC comics. Ward had a big success without swapping yet so -- As well as is that he's hard to get more into the superior stuffy he had done over in England he did marble man. Which was which is the kind of re interpretation of the captain marvel character. So -- is the humans -- an almost back ups -- issues there with superheroes and that all the -- when did this the last informants or for the reboot. Around men tomorrow. But so they're talking they want to do --"

" They were edited a book together and also DC want to -- more to do another book I just back for another series as well breakaway was clearly. Are -- are on the rise they said. Just as -- project so he did get this much different projects they were all these issues like you know as a coach you can expect that all get accepted. But eventually McCain got this one do group story."

" What started off with with the they want to miss Horry they they had for some reason it picked up on mad parodies of medical super Superman. And in line that was very it. -- comedic aspect of Superman and wants to do that. In -- 180 degrees different direction and do more. Serious let's can be excellent story that grew into a kind of Justice -- story."

" All of -- have you visited the team's story and that. Became well add. DC all the different characters it requires you acquire certain other companies throughout."

" If throughout the history there have been comic companies that went under and DC marvel -- have all the characters it's a -- it up with the boss characters yet marvel exact area are. And so on in 1985 DC had bought that Charlton comics characters which were Charlton was great series of comics in the sixties and seventies. Steve -- a lot of work for them honest -- Right -- did some stuff you know some great stuff. And they bought the rights those characters they're car accident on I didn't know what to do with. And Alan Moore have wanted to do another re interpretation Ollie you know -- man. Where if you look at the original captain marvel marvel and they're completely you know the same you know kind of archetype a completely different characters."

" It's so they wanted to take these characters and he and he talked about. In in this book yet your residency rights. Which look in the Washington gasoline. Well he -- time and declare it but I believe it's talent he wanted to. Do a story where it wasn't encumbered by continuity. Where he wasn't limited by books you can do whatever -- wanted to have full control of the whole world. -- DC decided not to let these troubled characters."

" Did did it became an an interpretation of the strong characters so. If you look at that the watchman as a team on an ever Argentine unit -- Yes never actually used race often is used book it is not a terrific -- The crime bosses -- which never took up there but I think you look at the -- and then in the -- that -- group that we follow. This -- crime -- not believe that you know -- as I remember in the eighties scene and the publicity poses to this and that who watches the watchman you know kind of -- for is awesome yes. Since the and and the little happy face we will try to -- back on the let's open prophetic characters that are in the -- so we've got as. Of the main characters that the comedian. Who is the with American flag on the shoulders in the -- this domino mask he's actually based on -- character called peacemaker. With a little bit and nick fury influence there. Not officially."

" A few days. There's -- Manhattan with the captain Adam victor and he is the world the only super powers yet. He's he's the acts accidental secure can it captain Adam was you know horrible accident and -- dealt with the payments in different things about about -- has come origin they going to for directions I was here. Bob -- Dowell -- is an analog of legal. You know blue beetle probably because you know these universe properties is eligible that'd -- yet got the bunt that you -- a lot of -- It is jail a guy with a lot of money and get."

" It's basically arts yet -- smart that's true. And you got you got -- Indians who is kind of like the Paula the Superman ask I don't know but. He was based on Peter cannon thunderbolt. Which is -- character whose character who are more like him because he used his hundreds of brain capacity like that ideas as --"

" Or chat on -- most popular. 88. You know. Unscientific poll we we update you mentioned at work quite adamant. It. All of a when -- go back and not -- portion. I don't get rid. I'll or work that is a question and use."

" Both characters the creativity to cut it. Steve Dickau is fine and followers he believed in. -- activism and and you can see that billion boorish -- a very heady homeless. I learned about it and Islam Jarrett you know -- And were sexist no compromise with a lot compromise with the life without compromise. And that's clear there."

" And it finally just looks actor who is. Based on the character night shade but -- like a black canary yes can he not care if you believe that way so separate set of characters of the watchman. And where you have the origins of what many you know what you know who they were going to be you know comedian. Those religiously because he doesn't want histories characters back the -- and the minutemen as. -- The history of the characters of warmer and humans broke down with the characters in terms of how they got to win the world sort picks up and five. So the first issue watchman was published September 1986. The sentinel -- changing the world comics."

" I wasn't around for it but for all intents and purposes this this is a big big deal -- time and you hear people. -- little than I mean you know we'll talk about I've ever heard -- talk about how. And Brubaker. Talk about how you know like that those issues coming Alice -- deals when when Alan Moore went the other beat you you know."

" The -- published in September 86 and that's the twelve issue on the issues ended in October 1987. Important -- from it before Dark -- which is which -- that answer Frank Miller did which is also kind of -- in the -- and hold him and a change in the -- 86 -- he had dark -- that was published in February 6 was done -- Giuliani's -- Dark -- was done in enemy hands before -- there. Which most of them has gone gone the same times that managed -- here yet she's."

" So before you four -- historian should probably people who are just it was kind of written about many wonder why it's important what is it about -- This book that people still talk about. Still this influences still felt spent almost every super accurate in the major publishers what is it about. What watching did that made its home port."

" I think. It's the I mean I think similar to their two schools of thought one is that it's had its deconstruction of stores and that it deconstruct the idea superheroes and people. And superiors or they're being told and the size the second thing which is. It was one of the first look at you coming out of the silver -- In 1988 and 86 was by that point -- it was a time period of starting in the late fifties up until about the early eighties where a lot of the stories were very. For example there yet a lot of the stuff that was done by Stanley and marble slide in it flashed just leave things that. And -- are becoming more more complex is set these days ago through. And what happened was that war was able to take these characters and showed them. You know. What was great about them and what was horrible that these -- people might be superheroes with their flaws their problems and they have he -- great things they have about them they have equally bad things."

" Well deconstruction is a term it's used a lot I don't know if I'd -- I don't know that is an exact. Definition reported is that everybody would agree on but if you look at in the in the terms of this I'm also a movie like country given what you do is take the arch type of superhero. Who is a person who is good. Who has no problems who can who can deal with anything two and you and you say -- wait a minute what if we look at them later on down the road. When they're not so sure of themselves and you look at the other side of them is like. Today they -- with a love life today he really look at it what that is -- human being you break it down you take away. Machine. Unrealistic idea of what it is. And and that's what this book doesn't."

" In addition to the environment imminently ending up this point in the world of comics was very embracing and celebrating heroes Enola gay Superman in the eighty vendors consider that. This is the world hate superheroes they passed a law making them illegal."

" In 1977 the Keene act I believe was passed and then it's super -- were were banned except for the comedian who is who is a government operative and and doctor Manhattan who is government yet. Right and rorschach who refused to quit."

" he was bad it Yahoo's the end with existing. What what you think about what influences it took the realist master -- news and it is for real -- Marvels touting the real answers but -- this. Was this sort of sickness is it really. Supporters of problems. Effective and you know state media's socio like these -- what would you what would that. The whole lucky people watch what happens is people read -- the main point is that most speakers at the Atlantic crazy person costume. Go these are so bitter over what chris' -- as part of its mobile."

" Costumed adventurers and the characters sort of make no. Secret about the fact that silly that one of the nice framing devices in the book is that the sections from -- mason who was the original let out his book. On that sets up a lot of context how he looked at it you know he understands. There's a creepy sexual subtext to some of it is that our thing and yet -- it is just a -- he knows that they say it. That is very rarely or at least was very really into that."

" In in comments certainly not DC -- that's what the influences of this -- so the idea. X let everybody now is explored the dark side of severe ones like you know what news you know. Not what color of their lives love lives to prevent -- and it really. More introduced packages but really you."

" Focused on what he had done it in marvel -- and hand but what this had that that didn't have was a really impressive overall structure of a complete. Story from beginning to end it in a world that was entirely realized. And we should get into all of that stuff -- we liked about what we didn't."

" It's quite distortions from Warner on -- talk about the story both in what happens and how -- happens though if you haven't read it. Spoilers. This section as Middlesex news stories. You have credit exposed -- an expiration. Merits of what story. Central story is opens with murder. And outlook said he went -- or -- after getting word. Have repercussions. Don't comedians getting killed -- dead is dead and respect yet. And that's where we go to work its businesses registered yet basically and so and so from there what happens is that rorschach."

" Investigates it and start putting the pieces and realizing that you know. Maybe somebody's coming after us -- you know kind of heroes and -- he starts you know spreading the word to the nine now who's retired. Two doctor Manhattan who is Cecil Specter. And relationship. Spontaneous releases -- you know. Look at the -- in the wall I think some of them after us and some kind of rorschach -- that kind of sets off. The the -- yet. And and don't believe over the course of time find out that the the mastermind behind it is. We can -- to Antarctica well lately -- accident at the same time you've got. Rocky political."

" The world is escalating as -- yes sir Richard Nixon has still president he which view of the in this world he eat they won Vietnam because of doctor Manhattan. So that changed the landscape for Nixon who also can be killed woods would Woodward Bernstein at any evidence yet that didn't happen. That's why I've never heard that he awful sassy JK. Well. I don't Nixon Nixon makes it passes legislation that you can be elected over and over and over -- this -- Africa through comedians use use a -- the -- and the community was really kind of model that -- kind of character of -- mountain -- books -- it's -- but -- what -- the world is the world -- Republic of China and then -- Russia Russia. I thought is -- reversal was on the verge nuclear wars on the rise everybody you know all of the bottom nuclear fear. There it on polar world Afghanistan and all the if it's kind of creepy how would this also it it's a comment on on what the world is like -- in this. Before because he knows the Soviets were in. It's all it's all happening right there on the back there and it's actually go through. The background could follow us. Papers that you get a real feeling for what the world slightly readings not knowing explicitly and it's -- it's because it takes was 95. That the world is actually been altered slightly because of the presence of -- doctor Manhattan. He's well he's enabled technology to you to make huge advances because basically he can do anything. If we -- fire star should be if he was real but he's not he's got and if he gets at the size any. Stuff used similar theme that euros picked upon -- of the watch used to follow them watch -- and its options from that you see him. Just you know deconstructing things back together and that's you know that the atomic level he the car it's it's. -- also record gritty grimy -- The idea sort of being at all of these you know makes technological advances to do anything to to make quality of life better fact. There's there's like I think I read somewhere that knows there's no disease is nothing so people don't really have to live for. On the it's creating discontent everywhere."

" And and everybody's under the threat of nuclear war they'll think you're gonna die in his state property. Exactly it's almost that it and so now we got -- he got he knows that he dies in Russia except to ask questions -- looking into it and then at some point Russia gets arrested funny he explained. And nine gal and what's been so Specter decide to Don their costumes again breaking out of prison. And that's where things customers are moving in and that's exactly."

" It's this giant complicated plot that seems very straightforward seems to be about one thing and is is incredibly deep I loved the idea of of that they as the world has been built but has also been up. Past history that's been built and all the supplemental -- materials to stop the cut -- between chapters. Bill into that -- history -- old -- yes that's very important."

" Reveals a lot of stuff that -- before we get the ending analysts. Not complaining and instantly -- here after the spoken but I -- it. Ha ha. Eight what if the weather early in the united those top. Shocking moments comic -- everyone was the killer and I had read -- yet and all right so."

" We gonna do that this a lot of people are really doesn't matter it's not the point and I think that one of the things that does really existing the end is they don't. Again in in the deconstruction and it'll find the killer and say it just we will bring you to justice they way they weigh everything have a -- Well Russia than gets dealt with and in one of these. One of the status panels I've ever seen in my life the thing is rorschach starts off like this -- funny. You know yeah so and then after a little while you see that he really sad. And then he sort belittled scared of them and then and you felt bad for him which is a really really interesting roller coaster taking on the that he got an active involvement he's great he's the most fleshed out. Again. Wrong. You know -- D'Andrea berg is is sort of an every man in the middle of the night all and -- While you kind of think you want to like he's kind of silly and he knows that he's kind of pain it that -- but he's only -- Have anything to live for no rorschach has this really just -- just passed and I think. It's it's just shot of what can happen this."

" So you know are millions but look at -- you go reveals. Four. But so it's a great story about what's also one reason why -- is such an important important book is because concert visual medium. As for the approach that they -- an -- took from the visual storytelling."

" Is also deconstructing and we come books remain -- stuff if you flip the pages of in this a lot of supplemental material -- in addition traditional argument."

" As well as in the new book watches the -- opinions just -- but if you look at it it's all based on nine panel read the page every page this Margaret so some pages."

" Break out of that need the name of more than nine panels and panels was always based on this simple -- three or agree combined you can minus three in the bottom make one long one whenever."

" It's a resorts like device because we did you break out of it -- yes as you go along. Do it. Be half page. -- has -- moments that -- at a totally."

" And then throughout that there are also little subtle subtle hints and cruiser told the story like for example. When Dan driver 99 -- goes to visit. On the old man now he the ritalin now he's now mechanic has an -- iChat that's a sign in front of -- it's the same panel of the coming to visit them and that same sign about we repair broken down when everyday which is. You know contextual to the character which is is the reason is amazing and additionally they did things like you know issue five all the pages are symmetrical."

" So if you look at on the panel in a city they work not only within the page in the panels but within doubled its rights and."

" And out also when I first read this. Pick up on a lot of I didn't know I was looking and I really I thought at first. I was like that are it's kind of standard it's kind of boards and and and I think that this is one of those things that. It doesn't hit you right away the first time you've got to keep going back and you start to notice things really that the first time I read it again. It was really the first time that I started to really appreciate and this."

" And then don't mean to be like kind of dollar you know you get older reader whatever but at the longer you read comics the more or do you appreciate this is that this is an artistic achievement. You know what -- the former structure and you read things like understanding -- Scott -- and you get really into the process of things you realize that this is immensely V production of this was immensely complicated."

" Even reading again for the show don't know. It varies thirtieth department read it knocked a couple more things -- the -- sold."

" would if you look at the production and that the jokers in this in the example -- in addition. Al Gore delivered the script issue one billion it was a 101 pages but for 28 page count book a 101 pages single spaced. No breaks of just describing it to. Force prisoners -- there it just more pre. If -- so now and Gibbons was able to pick up on the details and carry that over to the art good to be fair."

" You know there also in the collapse of the visit is that does the last. Age its about page. Yeah so there was a lot of setting up I mean it worked on this developing the look and feel the every single bit of it from long time the colors are very evocative very as a -- a John Higgins is guy's name doesn't get used enough that you talked about this so much of -- focus do with a look at it. It's also. Your favorite. Section that sort chapter. -- I I think you and I are talking about this before weird. That the when."

" each character it's basically issued yet where where through this which is brilliant through the story you'd learn about their backs up -- we're talking about the document and document goes to Mars and he is the ideas that he is not a human is my experience life as we use for him all time -- at the same time. What is happening now is also what was happening then it's -- Happening if you yes everything is written in the present tense. He described our schedule yet."

" you'll see once more if tomorrow but it's all this this three things happening at once. And it's his past Torre's future and was happy to know all topics in this one issue it's. Mind blowing it out well more pulls off this it's structured wallet. And it makes sense but it also better and better than anything I've ever read it."

" Yeah Amish if you've ever try to write music which incredibly lazy the other part that I really like it that's I like it set at love -- throughout the whole thing in the issue on after. So -- is taken away by that by doctor go to Mars. And and rush -- and -- now are alone together for a little while waiting to go find out where they're going what they really love the character development. Action that. Com where where miles only character who rorschach actually likes yet response to a human like every once while he sort of his. His humanity cracks through little bit. On one of these or Russia that I just one -- really quickest. At a certain point in the past few cracks like ghosts if it was actually eat something happens and kidnapping in if you look. Flashbacks from having with regular -- balloons and he speaks like normal humans and at some point. Now in my president. The letter is all we need change it indicates it is well that's what it's that's what you make your -- and so when I first heard the voice things for the movie for example that sounded like what I thought it was because the way that the letters work even the lettering. On was it was a way of telling the story this book and you don't notice it you know until you're like started to examine what is that's good."

" Partly because in the in -- was -- and that's a successful finish this and those of us. He loved it. It's a -- some more after basically. It's true yeah. Anything you can possibly dues have been historic he stated watched it negated anybody has -- you know and all of his goods rose by. Doesn't he -- yeah I. I'm but."

" Unless you want to fit in dollars to do while while the case -- So -- of the book of that -- there was -- success is a unit is one of those where things -- even at the time people realized what it was. And then from -- it's been you know it's been a rocky history and soon come back from the break --"

" Thanks to Netflix -- sponsor -- supplies and with Netflix you can rent over 90000 titles on line including Blu-ray titles with free shipping both ways to your own. They now -- for shipping centers almost all deliveries happens in one business day. And Netflix plans are 49ers and remember you know risk two week free trial membership -- check -- every dividend dot netflix.com slash iFanboy. Current type in a -- at W news in the code fortune."

" Only in the late eighties Alan Moore and began serious this is series of them all and many falling pallets -- DC comics. In Colombia where he refuses to acknowledge and and that led to another rocky relationship with these -- who published published a watchman. The book is consistently sold over the past 25 how well yeah outs. Movie hype three years -- the there were. Twenty years plus 1213 years. Masses and so as is his you know. Combination of these problems with the company's problems in the movie wasn't movie thing as recent strike -- DC -- started -- excellent capitalism every time they tried to. Re packages or do anything with it he it just always -- that there's a long story of the fifteenth anniversary and we're gonna do one action figures. And then designs rolled on -- it's ultimately gossip column it would also. It'll never can now. Including as a wouldn't approve it so I don't know the nature of his deal on the television -- there was ever."

" At a certain point eighties DC has had a very. Progressive. Creator ownership deal so he probably you know he definitely -- so what he does not accepting any. He's not having the movie is one -- definite opinions yet what is right what is."

" With so that what happened was -- movies in the late nineties two thousands a lot of properties did make it through. And notes from hell Cano Johnny gap in the -- gentlemen the child Connery. And with the other one McCain obviously. More bitter vendetta of the Trinidad -- as to what he's done is that he signed away all his rights to any -- any royalties related to the movies any game that the artists so David Lloyd and all the money from the right now. You know Kevin you know slightly different Eddie Campbell and Campbell from."

" Which is thinking a -- by exactly an art is my outlook yes. What the plan is that he. He's still -- books yet he still gets royalties from. And so he's he's okay so. So that this that's votes so when this came out and obesity that when this came out the eighties it was now it was hot option hot property Hollywood. And there have been rumors and attempt to develop it for the past twenty years now. It's just yet me. Spirit I read that you're not that I as a problem. Which was like those epic fight infection and English it was shortly he says. It was right. And in Terry Gilliam was -- yeah. Com and it's kind of languished in again background and indeed in -- got language got don't but you'd be. You just can't -- people's that you can't make that you can't do I was that and I still I mean. I still am. To a certain extent I accept that he will get it is getting maiden and -- got out and I tell me and I'm okay with it like I'm cool like it's not going to over I don't think it's -- wrote the book will. Well it will forward -- an actual movie there -- are rumored to thousands win now whole kind of HBO at the Sonics -- certain people. If you watchman as Andy -- on."

" I guess was that want to swat officers and a written article and it him weekly when when the first movie for some ski so apparently. They off that they could sit well -- One so that if not don't don't go right at DC blame them they again. They pitched it that's -- right well episode many."

" same company HBO and I was crushed our justice so so then somehow cut coming off of the success. 3300. Zack Snyder comes in the picture and honestly I don't know and I night with autism and how it ended up in his -- I believe you rather I believe that the way that I heard it. In this you know this is Hollywood legend at this point so is that they were going to do it anyway he thought well I'd better do it so they don't screw it up to bat -- and and so this isn't right that you become a fan excuse -- and he said. I want to do it and from the first -- options to saw he saw recreating the look remember that that that lead still rorschach with the rumors that the cameras that here -- the city -- the is that what it was this videos of the news flash that tractor trailer he's worked so Zack Snyder."

" Who who do -- 300 is under the movie's movie's opening and you know not a lot of stars these are lucrative. His doctor Jan. In the race. -- And now it's funny because you know that would at all costs that we talked a lot of people Netflix watchman in service. And -- see you come off on the nervous side."

" is what I mean it's that are I've -- allotment cut through it like it if it was up to me ultimately -- one movie get made. No -- good for Dave -- for making money on -- care. For me it's it's it's a great great great great having only think about or about it was a really shouldn't move you make people not respect the book -- Agree that is -- missile. Hundreds of thousands that is great however it like said that nothing is it's not going to be electorate it's not going to be now it's -- it's a tough look like and admit that it was great. I'll make you people read this greatest thing we've ever done as an industry we. -- Letter -- is. I I consider you know comment was part of my life by -- 99 but the thing isn't it funny -- I was the same way around like."

" You know but the trailer got me really excited going to no worries me and we thought of that is that you know -- out a little Batman -- read -- that there are a cautious about it and certain."

" My professionally it. It's. People don't mess it up of but on the -- I saw a little nervous about it but what I saw the trailer from. For the trial was awesome I mean look I mean the bars and -- watch building that document base on Mars looks amazing. I think comedians were either there again like 300 their shots that we've seen the trailer and it will see in the movies that are directly lifted from the artwork and."

" I love that he needs. He's crossed fingers behind me the book that's -- right noises. I understand things that they accurately. Yes -- in the book -- comes -- an update news a funny thing about reading this recently. Business model like good -- editing Atlantic it."

" This what would you do those -- I saw the lord I still recommend though if you haven't read the book try to read it before you go to the movie just to see I was -- and after the movie W credit before he should have that one experience of Reading and putting your own voices in the people's heads seeing it the way it is. " Well I've I've long said that this is not a book it said to me -- good good -- comic. And I think that. It rewards the reader on on further reading the first time so much expectation there's so much.

Go to a bookstore and flip through it. There's not much text in there. It's just nice to look at. Of course, there is much to learn from.

Watchmen was actually what got me into comics. First major comic I read. Probably a bit much to start off with I know but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Very very informative show. You guys totally know your stuff.

I must admit though, I partly wish you would have released this earlier. Just so that I had a few weeks to distribute it to my friends so they could watch it before the movie comes out. But I understand how it makes sense to release right before the movie.

Again, great show

Ok before I begin I just want to say I haven't seen the podcast yet.

Ok now that's established I want to delve into the book more, with a podcastless point of view.

I LOVE THIS BOOK. Worth every penny. Let me tell you this, if you read this book "off the truck"... you need to *Buy* it. Read it on the bus, in bed, in the library, in class, in the toilet if it's your first read through.

At the end of chapter 4 I was literally jumping up and down pointing at my absolute addition going "OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" Like I was at a damn show or something. After I saw the movie I was doing the same. =| I never thought I could be so pro-something and be rewarded for that. =| You know come to think of it after reading it a few times you can't help but to love every character in WATCHMEN. Even the naked Dr. Manhatten -_- (still creeps me out)

Anywho now i'm going to watch that podcast.

*halfway into podcast*: T_T why didn't you mention the hilarious lettering/bubble mistake on WATCHMEN #5, page 10 , panel 2? That shit was priceless. I thought at first I was reading it wrong, I rubbed my eyes and looked again and laughed hard. I mean I know they were trying to make it look like it was a reflection but it didn't really work XD, it just looked off. Perhaps they zoomed in too close.
