In a week of giant releases, there was no questions that the Pick of the Week was Giant Size Astonishing X-Men #1.

Joss Whedon and John Cassaday have finished up their epic and historic run on Astonishing X-Men with excellent results. This was one ending that didn't let the reader down at all. What are they doing and in the next issue I thought what are they doing get an -- what are they doing it and I thought that all the way up to this one but every time about a third halfway through. -- sorted it out and it was made easier by the fact that we write the hell out of this book and characters in it and the moments in it and the the the dialogue is pitch perfect and the plot -- You really take turns on its twists and he knows how to read the comic books you know it's not is mean media so -- that's really great to see any you can see he loves to do this story he connects to these characters he does these. He does these stories really really well. And you what's cool is that -- he brought into that this all of these other characters -- universe day it's Spiderman the fantastic four -- doctor strange and other X-Men. And can help them to -- there was the Spider-Man in this was awesome I mean it was I was like -- he could. He should probably right Spiderman and fantastic -- this also often. And in and I don't really know what happened with that part of the story on but the old rule and that was pretty cool is that reed Richards the ruling. You don't get that a lot of books. It basically the ending of this was. Fast -- the rest I guess you know want to keep pride. Had a big sacrifice. And it was touching and gut wrenching and drawn so well. And when I'm talking about drawing. Jon -- today. Is unmatched in that sort of style of of epic comic book art that he's like the modern Neal Adams I guess -- compared to is nobody is good as him. There's just there's not if you drawing that kind of style and he's leaving comics or -- somewhere but that's that's unfortunate. Can probably be back at some point but it -- the curriculum monthly but again if we ever did. But he's going to missed because the dude. So this looks a little weird like like Scott and colossus one win not in their constant kind of look similar but overall like. -- does pages amazingly I mean you talked cinematic he's got cinematic -- is he's the he's the guy. And heat when you do emotions that emotion he does funny he does the best Logan I've ever seen by -- is a great page. Where Logan and armor -- Our -- is like can can I help and he says you will be here. And and in the fight and it's cathartic and touching funny moments the sad moment I got chills at the end. During during the -- via the wrap up the epilogue for everything they're going through what all the characters went through and just touching and it's done so well like. Just say that good comic book and it's going to be a legendary around to that talk about the someone like dark Phoenix. And end -- future past guests is it those things that's comic book that's excellent comic book and really long time some of the best superhero comics going.
