OverClocked ReMix

Thursday, September 18th, 2008 – running time 13:45
Martin interviews David Lloyd, a.k.a. DJ Pretzel, founder of the video game music appreciation and remix site Overclocked ReMix.

Overclocked ReMix, a site dedicated to the promotion, preservation and remixing of video game music, was founded nearly ten years ago by David Lloyd, a.k.a. DJ Pretzel. Since then, there have been nearly 2000 ReMixes hosted on the site, all of which must pass through a rigorous approval process lead by Larry Oji, a.k.a. Liontamer. Many of the ReMixes seamlessly meld styles that seem discordant on paper, such as DJ Pretzel's Doom II waltz

In this episode of Internet Superstar, Martin talks to DJ Pretzel about the evolution of video game music, what makes a successful remix, the video game industry's embracing of the OCRemix crew (most notably shown by Capcom's enlisting them to do the soundtrack for Super Street Fighter Turbo HD Remix, and how anyone can start remixing video game soundtracks themselves.
