Want to adjust color and contrast independently of each other in Adobe Photoshop? Learn about "lab color" from Dan Margulis, who joins Bert Monroy at Photoshop World in Las Vegas.

What is LAB color? Learn the advantages and disadvantages!

LAB is a color space that separates color and contrast completely. This is different from RGB or CMYK, where you'll be changing both color and contrast at the same time. LAB computes colors nicely and will, but the disadvantage is that it's difficult to be precise. Dan remedies this by working with color and contrast in RGB first until it's acceptable, then does fine tuning of the image in LAB.
