Bert's “Stroking Pen Graphics” logo is a concoction of a little Illustrator for the basic design and a little Photoshop for a specific style. Bert implements the gradient tool , filters(Texture> texturizer, Render>Fibers), and layer effects (color overlay, bevel/emboss, drop shadow) to to create a work of art. Additionally, by defining the brush preset, Bert creates his own brush stroke to finish the job.

Six inch market and it automatically converts it to the point is you deceit -- click OK and I get this nice big circle. So out of places right in the center right here. All right so now. It's gonna fill a white I'm gonna turn that off -- take that often to stroke right now has a stroke of one point that's a default and make it. Ten points a nice big -- stroke. A case and now. I get my elliptical -- again and replace it right in the center that center point of the original pulled on option key again and click again which is gonna bring me up did today it'll option window again. There's my path on the outside now it automatically took on the attributes of the previous circle so it has no fill and it pinpoints stroke and go to my text tool here. And I'm gonna choose. You know -- at the stroke went away and not as a little thinking person this -- input my taxes and take cap blocks anonymous typed in. Stroking. -- Graphics right so there it is. I select all -- days there petroleum PC and I'm gonna send to this text now here's a fellow on the bottom explain that in a second. And I'm gonna make it something much bigger so we're gonna go with -- eighty point. Right and got myriad pro regular let's make it bold so there we got this nice big text now."

Opening up that space there goes they went back to being a white box meaning we have all the text visible for not Texas along the top. That's not gonna get my circle to a one more time and again option click at that center point right there. Right there and this time I'm gonna make the final circle which is going to be eight point five inches. By. Eight point five inches. And there it is now it's filled. Why because the last thing I did with tax and the tech is still with black in the stroke sensitive going to. Reversed those tools and how it hasn't stroke -- and I'm gonna go up there and make that a ten point stroke as well. Now it's got the text it included there I don't want to include detects on that one I want this guy to be separate from a to select him. And going to say. May get ten point there it is now my text. And does the bush is a little big we've looked at that brush it's a little bit some -- make it a little smaller. As bring it down a little bit. That's little more manageable right there analysts say go ahead and stroke. All right so now want to make it a little bit bigger now. And stroke -- again. And I'm getting all these nice little swirls happening in there now -- get a job regular brush. And that's kind of just fill in some resent the fact that these ladies we brushes and it's big it's smaller. And -- is that the kind of filling in certain parts I don't want to be open. -- ready here let's turn off the path. And that looks good maybe want to just close this up a little bit and we can -- it up doesn't have to be if that we wanted to be -- little rougher. We don't want to be -- to stroking moves brush stroke right there which is gonna close up some of the stuff in here. And maybe a little bit and it's -- and there were disclosed that a Britain there and load it on some of these areas. Just think that if analysis. Sketchy looking kind of thing. Now the finish it off and I wanted most smudge tool here and just kinda put these guys out. Date does push the ends up just a little bit so they look like they're being just. Stroke across here and read it here. Okay it's -- out. We've got this stroke. So what we're going to do finally get to that is given the same. Stuff that's happening here I'm gonna go in here and hold down my option key and drag. The effects up above and it duplicated the same effects of that previously -- onto this -- I would receive this back on top -- there. -- we have loses. Little logo for stroking -- graphics as a lot of techniques that went in there. The lot of things that I did and sometimes little modification of -- actresses hate. The receipt. I want to do a little more titles is just one more thing I'll go back to my illustrator file here and I'm gonna grab. Just. This. Path here just along with the texts. And a fake copy that again come back into my Photoshop file. And to a pace and on top there paste okay pace as pixels. Click OK it's gonna going to and paste it. I can now move this into position. This move it up so pulls right on top of the other letters now why am I doing this because I want to add one more. Kind of a layer style to this that I didn't have before right there right on top. On the go into the layers how's that and the take away the caller we only deeds Seattle but I am gonna give it a double the boss this time on the inside. Increase in depth on it making it chiseled hard. And debacle smaller let's say about. Two so I got this additional edge to the actual text on the inside. Is it just me, or was the color that Bert was referring to as orange really a brown color. I checked with 3 separate monitors, all looked brown to me. Is my monitor calibration that bad?

I thought it was great. The zooming doesn't bother me that much at all. I do like to see the colors he selects so being able to watch the mouse move is good... no zooming during that time is all I ask.
These seem to be just long enough. Any longer and it would become tedious and hard to concentrate because Bert shows so many great things. Smaller bites are a good thing IMO.

Same here. I have nearly got 2 DVDs now. I collect every show and save then on my hdd and when I get enough to make a DVD I create a title screen and some menus and then make a DVD with then. Makes it real easy when I want to do something and remember that Bert showed us that.. so out with the DVD and click the chapter I want to watch.

I take notes as well, that's a quick way to remember one little step that I might for get if I'm trying to do something similar.

I have gotten close to finishing this one a few times but everytime that i get close to finishing it i have left a layer out or something. Keep in mind i am very new to using illustrator and photoshop but i got a half way descent logo out of it anyway. I am an addict now i can't stop playing with it since i bought it.











Only thing I don't like is all the zooming :( Just kinda makes my eyes readjust all the time and might get distracting.
It could do with out as much. I just really love the way it was all done before the shots were being done at the studio.
Other than that... LOVE IT. Been a dedicated fan since Episode 3.
Keep up the good work and I can't tell Bert how much this helps me with everything. I look up to him tremendously.
