Transparent Photoshop UI?

I'm pretty sure that is a mac thing. Most mac programs behave that way. If you use word or anything else in windowed mode, you see your desktop behind the windows.

You can get a similar effect on a pc if you put photoshop in windowed mode and shrink it down a bit. Then drag your active documents and tool bars/pallets out of PS and onto the desktop. It isn't as clean or efficient, but you can see your desktop in between the windows and tool bars ect.

Hey, Bert,

Just wanted to mention that you could have used a global light coming from the bottom, and then changed the direction only for the outer bevel on the panels. Since the panels were the only layer that needed a different lighting direction, it would save time to only break these away from the global light.

Great show! Really enjoyed it.

Make picture ready for color

ok so first off if you want a fancy and art nouveau style like Mucha(i know it says c dreijer on that image but the original was by Alfons Mucha) you're gona have to draw it yourself, however if you just want to get line art from an image you can

1: convert it to grey scale

2: adjust the image with curves to make the edges stand out

3: apply the find edges filter - filters>stylize>Find edges

4: add a white layer behind the one you're working on

5: go into the layer styles for the image layer and adjust the blend if options so that the the image becomes only lines. (adjust the lines to as fine as you want)

it's not perfect but it should get you basic lines.

Took the quick-n-dirty route again - more magic wand (with about a 5 tolerance) and selected the smoke. Painted it in white then inverted the selection and went over the outline in black. Used a small white brush to try and touch it up a bit.

You're right - it really looks better as grey but probably not worth the extra money. I'm sure someone else could really do it up right.
