Well I can only speak for my projects. In my case there are three reasons for increased file size.

1. When ever possible I try to work non-destructive (heavy use of smart-objects and smart filters, adjustment layers etc.). That's something relatively new in Photoshop.

2. With increased CPU and GPU power, I tend to create larger artworks (more pixels, higher resolution). The composite of my current project is 8000 by 6000 at 300 dpi. The artwork is not nearly complete, but the main file is already about 900 MB and the separate files containing the different pieces add up to over 3 GB.

3. While my Photoshop and Illustrator skills improve, I tend to create more complex artworks.

"Just the addition of stuff like being able to turn on and off graphic style visibility, clipping masks that prevent you from selecting the hidden parts, a interactive gradient tool with transparency stops and the blob brush all make me want to upgrade now. Multiple art boards will greatly improve the way I work.

I always have artwork on my main artboard but off to the sides I keep other elements I want to work on separately until I'm ready to add them to the piece. Being able to switch back and forth will make it so much easier. It really does look like Adobe is listening and instead of adding a whole bunch of new features they went back and refined what was already there.

I for one can't wait. The only apprehension I have is having it break some of the vital plugins I use like Phantasm and XtreamPath. Hopefully they will get an update as well."
