Nerd Bird:Laptop Sweater

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008 – running time 01:29
Neha Tiwari turns the ratty sweater into something useful.

Turns out that Grandpa's old sweater can make one rad laptop case. Here's how:

Materials:

  • Yarn Daner
  • All-purpose thread
  • Scissor
  • A couple of safety pins
  • Marking chalk

Directions:

  1. Place laptop on surface of the sweater – not in the center, but off center - so the top area of the sweater is longer (we want the top of the sweater to fold over and attach to a button on the bottom of the sweater – think envelope.)
  2. Trace out the shape of the laptop using the marking chalk
  3. Cut out the pattern
  4. Begin sowing the perimeter, removing rough edges.
  5. Mark the sides using the marking chalk, and turn the fabric inside out
  6. Sow the sides in (marked areas) and cut off excess fabric, turn it back inside out.
  7. Sew buttons on pockets created by the folded in collar. & viola!
