Instead, one of the spectators is a secret assistant to the "psychic" and communicates the selected item through a brilliant code: When the magician's hands are on the secret helper's temple, the secret accomplice clenches his teeth repeatedly, to reveal the number of the corresponding object. The psychic can feel the pulses, without anyone else knowing how he's getting his information!
