Effect: Your friend beats his head on the bar repeatedly, to everyone's delight.
Secret: Careful with how far you take this one. It could get nasty. Explain to your friend that there's a peculiar attribute of physics that makes a coin rather difficult to remove from your forehead. Demonstrate this for him by taking a quarter and using your thumb to press and stick it to your forehead. Now tilt your head to the right and lightly bang down on the bar. "See," you say, "the force of the banging is all downward, so it takes two or three good whacks to get the coin off." And sure enough, after a couple more whacks, the coin falls off your head.
Here's where it gets good: If you've sold the novelty well enough, your friend will want to try it out. Take the quarter and push it for 10 seconds or so on his forehead, but make sure your fingernails are wrapped around the edges of the coin. This will allow you to take off the coin as you move your hand away. If you pressed hard, your friend shouldn't be able to tell that the coin isn't on his head.
Now, have your friend do just like you did, and bang his head on the bar until his coin falls off. The game ends when he hurts himself or figures out there's no coin on his head, whichever comes first.

My girlfriend coincidently walked into the room after I finished watching this episode. I told her I just learned a new trick on the web to get free drinks at the bar. She was ecstatic not knowing that the source was scam school since she doesn't watch the show. Anxious to find my first victim and get some practice, I told her to sit down and I would show her quick. Without hesitation, she sat down and I pressed it to her forehead and removed it without her knowing. I already explained the background so she just starting pounding away. She began getting frustrated to I told her to try and hit it a little harder, and after about 20 pounds she gave up and reached up for the quarter. The look on her face was priceless as she looked up and saw the quarter in my hand! I laughed hysterically and after a couple hours and a punch to my shoulder, she got over it and decided it was a good trick. Thank you so much for this trick, it was so fun to pull one over on my gf. No free drink but this was worth so so sooo much more!

Earlier someone pointed out how great it is that you come on here and respond to us unlike most (not complaining about the rest, I know their busy) but I was coming onto this thread to ask a question of what the technique of getting the coin to stay on and theres the answer right there...Not only is the show awesome your involvement in the community around the show makes the show so much better. :)

If you moisten the coin, it should stick on there pretty well for your demo. Make sure that you're banging your head perfectly sideways onto the table for the first to whacks, then tilt your head more downward when you want the coin to fall off. As long as all the force is going sideways, the coin shouldn't fall off too easily.

Great new show Brian.
I'm a fan of the UK (and they have a US version too now) The Real Hustle. Which I'm guessing your familiar with. They do lots of prop bets.
One question, you managed to keep the coin on your head for the demo quite well, I'm guessing you where not hitting with much force.
