Wed, 30 Jul 2008Gigondas wines are from the Rhone valley and are typically known as an alternative to the expensive Chateauneuf du Pape (an AOC (French certification) in the southern Rhone wine region). These wines are made from Grenache, Syrah , Mourvèdre and Cinsault. One wine especially, from "Vieilles Vignes" (old vines) brings enough thunder to make the editor go with a purchase.

...do a cellar door wine tour. Who knows - maybe you'll get to the point where you really love the taste of a Shiraz ( Syrah ) or CabSav, and the pucker on the lips the tannins leave. I know I do ... especially if I have a bold cheddar...
