In this episode, team SGNL tries out a custom-made underwater housing unit for the Sony reader and heads to Hollywood to talk to director John Singleton about the 20th anniversary of his first film, the Oscar-nominated Boyz n the Hood.
When two professional divers wanted to bring their Sony PRS-300 Readers with them on long dives, they turned to a company called Gates. Gates specializes in underwater housing for all kinds of electronic gear, so they created a custom-made unit for the Reader. The housing unit is not commercially available, but team SGNL was able to borrow one from Gates and put it to the test.
Hard to believe it's been 20 years since the Oscar-nominated Boyz n the Hood was released! To mark the anniversary this year, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released a special-edition Blu-ray with extra features. SGNL host Samia Khan heads to Hollywood to talk to director John Singleton about the making of this very influential film.
