Under the Sea with an R.O.V.

Monday, October 22nd, 2007 – running time 18:28

Taking on the deep abyss with such courage and the fortitude of a modern day Columbus, Brendan White and Dave Randolph launch their R.O.V. into the shallow end of the kiddie pool.

We got our first prototype of a magnetic drive shaft out of the way and laid the ground work for future episodes. Using rare earth magnets from www.unitednuclear.com we placed opposite polls next to each other on the drive shaft using nothing but normal PVC plumbing parts and some epoxy.

Next using DPDT (Double Pole, Double Throw) switches we wired it up to reverse the motors which were geared down from 1000 RPM's to 100 RPM's
