" That episode the system is brought to you by the US air force GoDaddy and Netflix. Hello I'm David -- and this is reversal is a pretty universal laser that anything quite a bit of action cut in an -- stuff for revision three's so we figured we talk a bit about this tool. We've come to love so much and explain why ages might wonder -- one of these tools. On your holiday wish list. This episode of system."
" You're not Patrick Norton your David Stevens it's what's your official title over there universal isn't and the applications manager. Applications manager and that you were told me earlier that really eaten boils down to get to sit in the back room all day and play with -- leadership it's. You know. We literally have fifteen different models laser systems public. Are -- gonna play with the inclusion to the limits to what they'll do. Test new materials and determine. What they can and can't basically. -- so be. The personally is there's way your product line is that the cellular company. Universally there is our entry level systems we have two different models. The smaller can be OS 230 which is the one smaller -- 24 or sixty by twelve and field size. And then when you guys got here what is it 24 by. Twelfth and which gives a little bit more power capabilities and speed how we also have a lot larger models that allow us to do bigger better faster. And -- Knives so what I -- for the best way to put it is is that if laser engraved for that your cutter had to think I guess that's -- put it is. What you tell us what is the laser cutter pitcher I mean what does the versatile laser."
" It is a laser engraving and cutting machine just like you said. It allows us to take. Virtually like a printer replacing income to a paper instead we remove the material with these CO two laser cartridge. The laser cartridge actually is in the back of the machine here. And it allows the -- to come out and just like a windows based printer placing images onto paper that laser beam goes back and forth across -- Vapor rising material. And or cutting the material. Some very diverse piece of equipment that allows us to do virtually any material out there somewhere better than others but it is. To fund these machines it."
" Though I mean there's like this -- example he brought which is really amazing honest honest quality. I was really amazed by how like why did he tell does that mean. He had like the universal laser. We'll decide it's very small micro micro there. But it's not just -- that would down it's actually cutting it would sit -- it."
" Lol yeah in this case the whole outside has been cut out as well. But the inside -- depending on how much laser power you push into the material. It will allow different steps into that material and you can see the detail we can do with a start typical one point five lands. One point five inches or is he actually lends style which gives us a specific spot size but if you flip that one over. We have a high resolution image and lenses that's called Expedia boat at literally allows us to run that same image five times smaller. And giving us the capable. Being diameter of five times smaller as well so. The the limitations are virtually limitless. With expert look at Portman you're talking about his -- assembly just yes what exactly talking about the lens assembly. -- is a thing about like a looms like a magnifying glass. Different sized magnifying glasses give you a sharp response. -- spot size. And because of that we can. Configure that beamed to become smaller or larger to give a different application effects larger ones is gonna could give us more of a Jack of all trades. And the smaller ones are gonna it was finer spots is therefore -- details such as the sample it and see. So this is video one point five. HP DF OO HP DF thus stands for high powered density focusing opt. If you look at the difference of the lands it has what's called been expansion optics -- This is a patented -- from universal is a system that gives us unparalleled detail. Combat capability to get our spot size down five times smaller than our typical -- which is currently in the machine. And it's a great -- for photographs detailed engravings. Comments and small small type in text that you couldn't do otherwise."
" So if this -- was actually. That the public actually you know wider if you like that -- cutting through stuff. Without causing the issue doesn't remove more material doesn't make it billion dirty words there."
" Well yes if if it's wider it to I think about you don't pick -- versus something smaller. -- a larger crater into the material. And you get a less -- because of that. But because largest that spots sizes how blessed angle on them so if you think about it like -- a magnifying glass in the sun. It comes down to a specific angle or being diameter and then -- back out getting much larger. And because of that. Did you have what's called a waste on the lands and so you can cut through thick and materials with the other lenses such as the 2.0. And one point five where you cannot on this one because it comes under sharper angle and a wider. Occur four or divergence of the beam and they cut convergence down beverages back out."
" I -- okay because definitely help about the focus yes now you know most people get -- lasers there you know primarily you know. Hit you know just the MacBook pros and just as the top covers it a lot more than that. You know I guess probably. The best way to describe it. Is is that the unit itself that -- with a lot of different options on it -- Specifically the wattage of the laser gripped. So it -- this Patrick based on net -- two point five you're gonna smaller modeled this the -- is a line. Starts out with what's the smallest -- I guess it."
" This -- lot of simple pretty much work on all of our systems is a -- later and virtually everything you see here and everything we show a chemical. That's not gonna do it's fast it's gonna take a little longer to run it but it'll do it and so the obvious that wants just an entry level system to. Do any anything and everything and time is not really an issue it will do it. It's not gonna cut through thick materials in one pass he may have to hit in a few times to penetrate through materials but it's a good entry level system. And it'll allow you diversity and and some fun with -- with a lesser price."
" Now though the real difference between a -- the the why did you -- guess really comes down to the -- At the end of the day at ten Y versus you know the thirty versus the fifty neck."
" If they like the lot of it is about price and the more power you have dislike in your car when -- got more power it's gonna cost. That costs translates into productivity which translates into more dollars made. And so if you can base your application on wattage and higher what ages are going to give you greater. Productivity. But not necessarily the best application needs to more power. Finer and finer applications that do like photographs and -- details as you can see in here don't necessarily need more power. Lesser powers actually better in some cases because it gives you greater detail. And as you can see here each one of these is how phenomenal the tell their -- of the 25 and thirty -- cartridge which is not. You know it's a mid level systems are laser system like our -- lest -- fifty here supports up to fifty watts of -- these were done with -- 25 or thirty."
" So let's say that like the other civil price comparison to what -- is gonna run somebody retell an entry level system."
" On the smaller unit you're gonna be 7995. But it just about 8000 dollars to get into a system with a -- while. And that of course via fifty watts fifty -- you're gonna go up you have to go to the bigger system for fifty watt or 25 years 10000 dollars for the smaller system fifty what you're going to be about fifteen plus so as you go up -- the price goes up."
" So got to dot com now we can't talk about that would probably within this around and actually show we're talking about here. All right so we've got -- been around now and though we're looking at these."
" If you what all this is the -- you are cartridge on universal makes her own cartridges that interface into the machine. They can be quickly interface and give us the capability to snap one laser in another one out giving us capability you finer detail or more power very quickly. The back plate comes off the top here he screws on this one. And are larger models have no screws in the tools at all so you can pop it in and out and you know it's a change in a battery you can in -- change it within seconds. And have that capability for a low wattage for -- detailed application. Or high wattage for power and then bump them through like your -- sign right there hey more power you have faster that and on this cartridge right here. The -- is actually generated in the entire length of this cartridge. -- the CO two sealed system are we gonna get between five to seven years typically out of them. And the actually bend. 45 degrees and the the -- enters the chamber. The way the system works it's like smoke and here's a -- the being. Bounces off a bunch of different errors we identify where it's located we fire within a field just like a printer would apply into a piece of paper to specific location."
" It's time now for systems Netflix sponsored movie pick of the week real genius. If you love smart -- child prodigy who loses and -- outcomes genius. Frank -- with movies for soliciting a Spartan laser. Into the house and so when she isn't there analyst. At -- create much popcorn -- house to house falls hard. Com and in this in this movie about lasers were doing the show with lasers. An exit art capability capsule and added crush on -- them back in the days it's crashing through. And as you click. So much -- And don't forget it you're craving movie rentals without driving this torture Netflix dot com. With over 9000 -- online including Blu-ray titles. Support us by supporting -- so if you like relief definitely yeah."
" Okay so we don't get the basic universal as a unit and there's going to be some accessories you know you always is like -- car there's always couple Apple understood."
" Exactly. Different accessories are going to be add ons for different applications giving you the capability to do for example the glass she did here. We have a rotary device over here. This allows you to put any diameter into the machine and rotate 360 degrees around it so if you want to do everything from a wine glass -- mugged at Christmas ornament or a small baseball bat in this case. It gives you that capability. And the laser hits and on the surface. And then rotates around it as an engraved -- giving you 360 degree engraving a -- option if you want to do that but it is an option because. Not everybody wants to be able to do this capability that everybody's doing that thing now. And as investors seeking cater the machine to a specific application that you're planning on getting. -- machine."
" So and that's the phase me accessories available on kind of big model -- a little model correct there's two different sizes this one will allow you to put you know full. It wine bottle and there. Where the smaller ones not going to quite be long enough because it's only sixteen inches long -- she's 24 inches -- just an effort collapsed. That's -- the price."
" Comes in if you're planning on doing longer materials with an accessory like that you want to make sure you get a machine big enough to do that. Other accessories include what's in here currently which is the honeycomb cutting table. On this produces a downdraft if you're planning on doing lots and lots of cutting. It it is going to give you that much cleaner cut if you cut right on the the regular cable that comes with the machine. Potentially a lot of residue behind and it just doesn't give you -- response and so this allows us to. -- work with materials and get much cleaner response and."
" Then it shows that the collective backs splash of material he would go to surface -- it'll -- it'll burn it or reflects off of the main table comes back into itself because charred edges and so there are different applications that require it. It also produces a vacuum. And holds that piece of material to when you go real -- these pieces materials papers and stuff like that which -- tend to flutter in the breeze. Because there's really nothing touching the machine material except for light. But you get exhaust flow that's coming over this once currently got a filter card on which is another accessory. But that exhaust flow can potentially take out new material. I have some people that if they don't have a filter dark -- they have. And material and they turn their exhaust harmful after it's done it's cut out it can literally -- about the chops off cut cut -- So you wanna use the right accessory for the right application it's gonna give you much better results. On top of the cutting table there is the honeycomb or I'm sorry -- The filtration -- This is a great device if you want to make the machine mobile only universal is a -- currently has this capability. But it makes it a mobile you know business opportunity for me to take a PC you take -- machine with a filter part that's on it. And you can take that power supply angle and you you can pull the trailer into the back into. Sporting event and start engraving mugs and -- and handles and stuff on hand about it you work so do those things like in the kiosk in the middle ball exactly call it what the -- card but if you like a story can actually put it out the window -- want to go and that's what -- recommend it -- the filter card as an additional cost. It has filters which need to be replaced I mean all that debris and materials going to go somewhere so those materials are happening that have to be trapped within that filter card. So what you want to do if you don't have to use that a lot of people buy it for when they take it out to the malls and stuff like that when they bring -- back of the shop me. Put it ventilated outside. Take this is like smoke and fire basically even without outside in and give yourself. How much cleaner. Cutting capabilities more air flow. And a allowed yourself to not waste of filters that Kosovo. Guys. So just."
" We have they have special message from one of our sponsors the united states air force."
" It's."
" All right so would talk more about the hardware software wise we're primarily talking you know."
" Probably some sort of structure drawing program. Any windows based drawing programs typically going to work your cad packages illustrator Corel -- probably the most common use with it just because of its its inexpensive. It's easy to use and at every version has worked we've had some problems with versions of illustrator they decide to go on -- post script outputs and so we get some versions it's given us some problems but. Current versions of illustrators all work any versions of cat and -- more obscure. Programs as well but. You gotta think of it as a windows based printer just like here you're you're you're desktop type printers that print on paper. You can run this machine from MS word excel you know right out of paint it's really up -- you even a little drawing tools in their allow you to cut with a laser so it's really just a printer. But if you want the most capabilities to be able to do a lot of this stuff in the graphical stuff you want -- illustrators you've corralled drugs and and have yourself more control."
" Josh yeah. So Lebanese this is just like your printer really has just like a printer because you clearly proved to -- yet come with a printer driver right driver."
" And are and then there's the PC just recognizes -- as another -- plug it into USB. And the machine itself recognizing. You install a printer driver it's all self extracting and it's. Yes from PC thinks it's no different."
" With talk about some of these materials over here okay and then we have to jump into. Actually been playing with the fun stuff around stuff. So let's see -- good utility got going here is that the first thing brought in the show which I really like to -- else. That I really liked that I was gonna two minutes of emigres skill events and this is done on acrylic. This is the backside of it. And it looks you know kind of you know kind of like that it and Miranda but -- if you flip it over it's kind of nice glossy."
" Issues to. Basically silk screened acrylic paint acrylic and when you remove the paint with a laser. And this is one of those applications that low wattage is better you can get incredible detail. With a higher resolution optics it gets to the point where you can't believe that's an acting."
" Yeah that that that's him a little different for me. That you have is really amazed by just how pretty it was. And another flood water what is typical acrylic there that's what you would normally expect out of -- it's an acrylic."
" Yet gathers no paint still aren't you can see the difference. But still gives you great results."
" You know that I really like how that turned out that looks really nice. There was another example that you brought here which was. Just tell you that here. Add this that you're saying has not just the piece of metal that patched."
" No this uses a metal marking compound. There's two different companies that currently make it so mark and serve my first yes remark and their mark. They it is he sprayed compound what you'll see on the -- the one kind of mad at material here. Looks like they can spray paint but it it is a specific chemical when the laser that is onto it it fuses that this chemical into the metal itself. And then when it's washed off you'll get the results as you see there. It works great it's very high speed very permanent. --"
" No you know what you think okay I can engraved logos and stuff like that things you know. Great game relatively bland and you yeah -- is always sometimes you can put your name on something. I thought this was really interesting. -- told us exactly what's going on here."
" This is a sports it will it's a two layer polyester twelve which is commonly used or applicator is it's called common it's commonly used in the heat press a garment industry. This the laser will literally take two layers of this stuff and multi layer -- cut through it. This allows us to peel up the areas that's been cut through one layer and then we can use two different colors and graphics program to cut through both players you can see here is one that's just. Uncut right here. And it's really just two pieces Laporte it will. That was together discredit -- get actually -- it up right now it's it's designed to be temporarily step down. And then when the laser cuts that you can and peel it up throughout the excess pieces and then when it heat pressed seals it permanently to the garment. So you would take that the first piece that you have here. And he would -- the backside are. Apply to the hatter are required to -- stick it and he pressed in -- permanently adhered to that garment. Sometimes they'll actually a broader it is well or poor to -- it on afterwards but it gives a very very high contrast you can -- under the hat jacket -- in any style. Very very popular application with a laser."
" Excellent now there is there's a couple of other -- materials that is didn't really think applied to laser action. --"
" It."
" Down you know and."
" The first what I would probably start with this. White tile versus actually called laser tile it's specific. -- a ceramic tile that has a glaze on it. Com and the laser systems like ours has actually -- on the whole industry of materials believe it or not I you get stuff like the metal marking compound I mentioned earlier laser -- was another one called a -- market that actually allow. Get phenomenal results from it. Due to the fact that it's been developed for the laser after the machine had been built. So with both have different material what will it got the laser -- Well pretty much. If if the machine can pretty much at anything whether it's gonna look good -- not certain plastics some of it will melt. I did get somebody a Thermo plastics like -- polystyrene to polypropylene. Don't look real good when they're -- because they attended -- who's a little bit we will cut okay. I'm other materials you cannot cuts don't we cannot cut glass or any type of metal. On the -- two systems that we make just not enough power. You can cut metal with much more power. But -- like a 1001 -- 5600 watts it'll start cutting. Com and the more the merrier faster stability in automotive industry -- will cut stickers deal at a higher rate of speed. That you -- and money for that and that's all it does is cut laser cut different metals and steals. But any material -- can pretty much work with a laser. But. Some were better than others I think there's a few plastics we will see you stay away from like PVC based plastics. Actually produce -- hydrochloric acid output and damaging machine. It at just wonderfully and it cuts just as well but the out gassing will literally produce hydrochloric acid. And it's very damaging your equipment so there's certain things that's really the only plastic that I had to stay away from whether it works or not it's not gonna damage anything that's the only -- you know."
" actually okay. All right so with OS that I say that we need to us started reading the material. My I think it was start with -- at the capitalist system -- isn't always time yeah."
" If you want to make an impact online -- with godaddy.com. Dark continent has closed dollar 99 plus world class -- fast and easy website filters and plus if you into the code exist for them check out you can save an additional humorous and -- and he ordered some -- dollars and."
" I think he feels it's. -- those guys haven't got loaded up the tile over here and that orbit Leo this -- at you whatever we can and everything okay."
" And you've got a great still -- right."
" Yes I've been -- image of just an eagle on the screen you can place it on to this piece of laser tile. With I cut out a small little template on that we put a piece of tape down and then cut it out so we can orchestrated anywhere you want. This is great if you want to do multiple the cost and you're just doing the temporary or you can cut out a piece of media and DF for plastic can make a jig. To be able to create and you know if you want to hold on to. And you know do something that's round it makes it more difficult position it so you can cut the jig and fixture out with a laser to create it and product we'll nice feature. So so -- couldn't close it up manuscript over to the HTTP media PDF file we're gonna photographs we want the smallest lot size as those done yet it's gonna give us a sharper photographs. And so I went ahead and change that lens giving us that capability. Com if you -- if you don't have it to get though he would go to the one point five -- have that one or the 2.0. Quality increases as you go to those different lenses that."
" Whereas I guess this -- matter that -- go let's go."
" Hello -- separated. You can -- have a laser light -- off of -- out of work but your focus without the reflected not doing anything at all. That he's become so large that it doesn't have enough and from a charitable giving him an effective -- was whether company would see it was out of focus it would just being a black Mac. But it isn't focused. Detail on the penetration. So -- is very crucial that -- Color image size it footprint. If you if you big grey scale you see what it's gonna look like that it. -- violet -- that a little on the back from an iPod. We're gonna we're still that's gotta be you have to convert those -- images going to -- lighter than the surface materials that his. Or mould of and I aluminum you have to convert it -- were promised when it comes. -- Like an iPod so my way to do it ratio it has done. What I need to do coding burden for it will work out it was got and it -- you don't have to do write its gonna look like frosty -- from the whether or white I'm white but still you have to convert his. The widest lighter -- obviously yeah. Probably the well all the other stuff that bad about it the iPod effective moment. It's just elements. Well I think though that is incredible I don't think that looks like. -- So that's actually. Just a little bit more but you know not much."
" You'll get a little heat build up on the material over a long term engraving like that but never enough the -- or anything like that to slightly. Does look very very accurately it is really made you know that the quality -- That's pretty much the rails to grey scale image that about the material correct. And of course should -- trade here but you know -- the now you've got a marketable. It can be kind of site once it's in there sometimes they have coming. Our --"
" So -- a lot of ager you bet you lot of cut it -- to have a stuff. They get to give some people it has some tips you know what would they be pretty much don't think you can as a mirror."
" You can action kits and we're on the front side and back well well have. There's really it's amazing what you what you think that you can't do this -- you can do this it's really. What every imagination can conceive of the laser can pretty much turned to reality. Examples and good than me when I get that question all the time off play action and here we use in years to move delays around well they're. They're considered the the different types of -- But it if you if on the front it's gonna give you the same effect as you do and on the glass if you do on the back it removes a coating and you can color film and get a different contrast through the mayor's."
" Excellent okay now you know worth -- our viewers don't have you know Tim -- your EK -- fifteen and Kate how throw doubt on one of these so they'll probably don't want to go to a shop to Scotland for a what's the that they should know for this particular taken are working to those places -- to watch out for know about."
" Yet you need to understand that there's certain limitations the most lasers typical signs shops Award shops -- trophies jobs. Can and will typically have a laser. You want to call them find out of that its its large enough to do your application whether they do it or not. If not you can contact us -- universal laser and we can find somebody local in your area that does job shop work. Or somebody that's willing to do the work for --"
" Excellent and there's also have some resources on the website that one point -- what do you guys will point out to. Some of the different material providers out there to talk about that which the most fun for me. And that's been great actually had to come on the show and you don't tell us about that and I'm have a lot of fun buildings some extra projects and -- some stuff out. It's my favorite part to include -- well thank you very much for a come on my system and so on off via -- laser from a universal laser systems."
" A lot of fun I think got to admit I really love your job. Which is fine. And we're gonna be using this on a lot of the future system episodes cut materials that you stuff. Lot of good ways to kind of mod stuff together so look for that and -- can't afford one find the place that the you know has -- and play with it you can't afford one. I want told us you assault on system you know how it goes and we'll see you next time on system. -- my favorite features that you went ahead and just spiral pattern. Right at the top it was kind of fun. --"
" That episode the system is brought to you by the US air force GoDaddy and Netflix.
