2014 Ford Fusion Energi Overview
In a market largely dominated by Toyota's Camry, the midsize segment hasn't really blown anyone's hair back. But Ford's Fusion has actually been turning quite a few heads in recent years, even threatening to overthrow Toyota's midsize reign. Following a slow redesign evolution, the Fusion remerged onto the scene with a vehicle that people suddenly preferred to the tried and true Camry. There are several iterations to choose from in the Fusion lineup, but one of the best is Ford's SE Energi.
The Fusion Energi SE, introduced in 2013, provides drivers with both electric and gas power, and promises drivers about 21 miles on pure electric. In hybrid operation, the Energi has an estimated EPA combined fuel economy of 44 mpg city, and 41 mpg highway; or about 108 mpg-e city and 92 mpg-e highway. In pure EV mode, the Fusion drops about 70 horsepower compared with hybrid mode, though Ford says this drop is made up by the electric motor's torque and pedal response.
