" and you put your beginner somebody's been around a technology block you times if you got a question about your PC HDTV online security or that's sushi and Cisco we've got an -- Korea."

" If we don't attract somebody who does hate before we get rolling want to remind everybody out there if you haven't backed up your most important files do it right now seriously. Point want to just -- Hit the buttons are just. Have a feeling somebody out there is about to have a major heart career I sent this tingling. Disturbance in the force as if there been any hard drive forced to go on and I don't know what it is I'm gonna back up buys that uses it as we're done taping it do you Roger we're going on line. And on. On this morning about the watch the movie and you know comic book character no spoilers but. Did it live up to -- brighter it won't with the engine of hype in the enthusiasts."

" I now we have been talking about it leading up into the premiere night for very long time I love. -- I was gonna unplug it like and interestingly they did that but for the most part in it was really very close to the the the feeling of the original meaning you know obviously since it is a movie had to cut out a lot of hearts and change things a little bit with the words shorter it depending. Think -- that feeling of the graphic novel was import actually have more kind of thorough review about it without spoilers my view. I'm my own personal blogs you guys can check that out one of Labor Day on the top chef he's now you're gonna be no spoilers. Sublime. Do this once spoil the ending up top -- for me or perhaps. You should. Keep in mind that -- about something the day it happens with the enter key. There -- times the next day hat on -- isn't it we did the but she. Never mind I. -- harp on it too much to do can't see the movie now. Babies small -- place for the day you can't bring him baby you're camping it's small child thoughts on -- baby you are under a convenient. -- and hey if you. Like totally into watching can't get enough don't -- out iFanboy this week they interviewed that cast the film which is so rat."

" It's what is the wrong and like you like because we're actually I. We've Peter cool people okay you can -- but NASA and now and now it's time to what it really solve it for grown up what was it like acting if it."

" sensible and yes there. I'm just saying can -- we can take it and comical part of the human body on the keep your heart out spinning all the time on my desktop to desktop -- don't -- do -- thing."

" Well our first question on the show has to do with jobs that take it went well. -- I just five cars one block structure or one characterized. -- What the images is that price. Is right now up to 1015 seconds and back up back to sleep thanks of the show."

" Really -- Saving -- definite benefits paid -- hard drive but it's even better you get into this like sleeper stand -- and it's what most laptops have that option -- enable them right off the battery. What's the difference for like one terabyte caviar black drivers are about eight watt what it's reading and writing may -- six watts. In stand by in a single watt if you actually have it shut all the way out. Now for desktops this energy savings deathly that they want you also are gonna cut down a little bit of -- drive where it here. I wouldn't get too obsessed about this is. The mean time between failure or meantime before failure which is going to be huge hundreds of thousands of hours of number. Your colossal raptor -- the mean time between failure one point four million hours which is something here 160 years. Now everybody recognizes the drive -- recently you can -- At the estimated MT -- but -- a year and a half. Yeah like tired yet got it all it is it's it's the law of averages and sometimes here on the low end of the belt her. The big difference that they're the biggest thing you're gonna but sitting down those drives is actually cutting -- the matter heat inside your system."

" Yes absolutely. Too much heat is a bad thing for drives is one reason why we prefer to leave a gap between -- attractiveness is. If things get way too hot drive can fail especially older ones on the system won't do router crash. Newer faster performance hard -- generate a lot of -- of -- energy and if you don't have good cooling it stays in the case building up even more heat which in turn could effect processor the video card in the chipset. -- spinning down we'll cut down on the power. Where care handles that he. But I'm thinking well laid out machine with plenty of cooling and use of a lot just sit spin down time a little longer hour of no use the -- but now the way. And hey we love your video questions. Just record yourself and and a video camera asking that question picture it's no longer than fifteen seconds upload that puppy to YouTube and yes of course -- in the count but they're free and totally simple to set up. -- the link here fabulous video question with video questions subject line. We can we do at all."

" You questions. That it well it would be cool -- your video questions to do it when -- first. Still got a digital camera maven Maureen green and has the word on new camera to coming out this year she's. -- 2009 the biggest convention digital imaging but first."

" Atlantic it's time now to thank one of -- sponsors Squarespace is here to tell you more about them -- them customize I'm efficiently if."

" Canon Fuji Kodak now I -- Olympus Pentax Samsung Sony. Every year the biggest names of imaging gather at the photo marketing association's international convention a trade show. And if you're talking new digital cameras it's a bigger deal than C yes. Joining us today as our favorite digital imaging expert CNET senior editor Lori Brigham and she's got the scoop on PM may 2009."

" Lori welcome back. Oh how's it going."

" So how how big is the DNA in terms of the whole digital imaging industry."

" Oh well -- for the US it's the biggest show there's some there's a bigger international show called photo -- that happens every other year. And but you know I don't get to go to that stuff."

" So there isn't -- big line so what I guess what the big and I because everybody's there it every quarter the industry won't what was the big and what was the scoop the buys what and people pocket. It -- this year."

" the thing that people are talking about are the the new Sony and Panasonic cameras. Sony has a new magazine on that with a twenty acts like X one paychecks on yes well it's it's twentieth zoomed thank god they didn't like -- Out to infinity. Like a lot of the vendors are but some VHX one is it's a mega zoom it's got a C must instead of CCD unit. Which isn't they're not the first ones to do that canyons with the SX one I asked -- But it has really interesting mode called dynamic wide panorama. In which you basically. You know you press the shutter and you pan the camera across the scene and it automatically stitches together panorama allow. Yeah. Com and it takes advantage of that they have not ultra ultra fast. Shooting mode in the camera and it takes advantage of that just keeps shooting until you stop the -- stitches together to fit into specifics."

" You like a 360 degree panorama are how much of a panoramic and you do."

" Well you could do what 360 degree if you go fast enough to put her back because. Basically it's it's got a maximum resolution of I can't remember the exact dimensions but something like 7000 pixels so. Bush you know if you spin around 360 degrees and can fitted into that 7000 pixels and it can do it but you probably will get like the blurry landscape."

" That's it's I mean it's pretty luckily so these 220 excellence Pentax to -- 24 acts the book."

" Optical -- is the new is the new. Link in magazines Olympus actually has a 26 sex but most of them are doing twenty force is it are those usable -- a tripod for that. But they they. Surprisingly. Usable and the problem and and go that far out yes you really do need a tripod. Or you need to brace yourself. And so it's not -- bad for people sitting in the stands at their kid's soccer game. Where you're not moving around a lot and you can just sort of brace and you know hold the camera and issues. But yeah -- pretty like I referred in the -- stalkers Adams goes and like the 72 X cam corder zooms in her at sonic ask. And really when you when you break it down all the ways you. You know. The limits of the stabilization and and and how difficult it is. When you get out that long to keep whatever it is you're shooting in the frame brat because you know little movement and they're gone in the and you have to look up inflict a Gartner. So really you when you think about it you have to be sitting still. While watching a subject that sitting still on a tripod and really what does that make you that makes you a stalker."

" That's. Well actually fortunately -- you really see the why would this in my neighborhood that you live in Manhattan so. Back to sleep -- when you see through other people's apartments that's a really frightening concept I heard micro four thirds was another big thing comin' up the pictures show."

" What I'm actually micro four thirds Panasonic announced there is that they call -- hybrid cameras isn't which I hate that term. Bomb but it means an interchangeable lens supporting clean sheet so there's no mirror box which is what defines an SLR right so it just. Directly images on the sensor but they have interchangeable lenses are out there. Olympus and Panasonic announced the standards. Last summer I think it was. -- and it's it's for the specific sensor size in the specific amounts bomb but Panasonic released their first camera in the fall. It was the G one. But it lacked the ability to shoot video. And so the big deal was that the GGH. One which they announced the show can shoot video. And why that's a big deal is because when you have interchangeable lenses you have better quality glass seeking get a really shallow depth of field. And you know the one thing that distinguishes. Consumer video is that everything is sharp everything has equal weight in in your visual. And the visual scene didn't whereas like the five. Can cam corder Mac you can get -- the fields of facts and that's got everybody really excited."

" Are these cameras as expensive as because obviously -- somebody just sent me a link to some more amazing video from the Canon five. Are these are these a little more consumer priced."

" Well that's a good question -- Panasonic has not released pricing on the GH one racked. Which of course will make all the difference. I think if it's still under thousand dollars and it'll would be really good."

" That'll be amazing actually idiot you big announcements that caught your higher what what your favorite things at the show that we haven't talked about that."

" If things tend to be sort of the funny things hooked up as opposed to the products. Like everybody has announced. You not everybody but the a lot of rugged cameras used to be that Olympus is you know. Like 1030 SW that series were the real the only real rugged options you -- but now Canon announced the Panasonic announced one the TS series. -- And when you saw the displays. On everybody had them like at the bottom of tanks. -- this put together this you know pressure arm showing you know crushing. Their that -- can be branded accessories stylus tough. In had to these flowed dire Ramos where the cameras were like sitting on top of rocks in the stream bed. We got its what I expect to still thought they were so wimpy and didn't you know you know dangling in front of the -- cliff -- not really in danger."

" Nevada but no gyrate crushing metal underwater our marriage. It again it's just more aesthetic and everybody else about."

" Okay do you see those cameras they look like little submarines they're they're. Not real pretty."

" I've actually seen. You know most of might also figure out a little like. Glue or strapped to the camera container that -- goes like around her chest or something. Casino -- are holding up several hundred dollar from the camera on a surfboard you're gonna get wiped out but it. As -- here are these cameras are effectively just you know in terms of performance is indistinguishable now from the rest of the point and shoot lineups."

" You mean the rugged one isn't yeah they're pretty much some. Double the same insides -- they just have -- you know water seals around the the flash cards and battery slot. They have. Some sort of cover over the lens is like plastic thing which you may lose some light and their and they made her produce slightly -- your images because of that. But ultimately there. Pretty much equivalent to most point and shoots."

" So what are these it comes out it -- may our concept cameras can like you figure GM amber or Ferrari or so my guess Ferrari has would you concept vehicles. But what over the concept over the big concept cameras that -- may 2000."

" I'm well the the big announcement you know I spoke about a hybrid cameras earlier from Panasonic. On Panasonic and Olympus as I said earlier announced that micro four thirds standard Olympus has yet to ship -- camera. But they showed there. You know prototype under glass at photo Tina and now it PM may. Still haven't really. Said when they're gonna ship there was just sort of a note on the signed for -- you know with a camera saying summer 2009. -- not at -- Her the thing about that you witnessed. Camera is that looks a lot different then. Panasonic as well as some Samsung also announced. They're hybrid camera and it's the -- series and there's like no details on it all they had -- then you know. Prototypes underclass but it looked very very similar to the Panasonic that's you know the first thing that struck us. On whereas -- a -- this looks more like an old fashioned range finder. It's definitely a lot more. Interesting looking war. You know some people like it some people don't but it's it's definitely more novel. Com and of course then there's the Fuji 3-D camera under glass which I didn't get it instantly with the but I looked at the pictures. And the like will holograms and that it actually kind of cool."

" That's actually so they have would you really is going to try to market and actual 3-D camera and it's so no glasses no weird sort of serious topic unix system -- actual 3-D looking image."

" Yes why I'm and the kind that you know moves when you go like this since what but that's. Like children's books from the seventies. Yes right exactly mail but the camera itself is kind of I I didn't it. It clearly never gonna be more than an itch but it's probably designs and and."

" Strap this giant box and go where the ads it will act that. Going away from issues real quick to ask questions any big news he consumers DSL -- this year things like height of the hybrid cameras are kind of like the big deal."

" Well. Interestingly nobody made any DS LR announcements of Yemeni prepare. Given that a whole slew of the -- that the entry level models are. In terms of their product cycle -- ready to be replaced him that was really weird. However I can pretty much guarantee you over the next step next few months you'll start seeing the announcements for the replacement."

" A guy -- the -- is like candidate I economy has all the new cameras for the year. So will you what we're kind of working our way down what's what's your pick right now for the best like sub 200 dollar digital camera."

" I don't think. Canon 8590 I asked but it's not an ultra compact it's sort of it's got a little grip and it runs off double A batteries and com but. It's very popular a lot of people like it we we like it. On they did a nice picture -- I think it's it's a very good and its -- and part because they're not trying to it to shovel that into a tiny little camera. On its. Just you know it's about a hundred."

" Well outside the kind of one's gonna say I -- I'm obsessed with that with the five."

" A shooting with it and then that and but you have to have a really good lens for those are pretty pricey."

" That's a bulletin its HD video isn't easy. Gals that silly you know what Lori. Amazing stuff is always we're gonna link to your reviews are basically section your views of the -- website amazing stuff. Where would -- in so much take the time talk to exploit -- CNET dot com we'll have more links lord's work up on the show notes."

" Hey there it's David Prager co founder Revision 3 I wanted to come on here to Tekzilla think when the sponsors that makes this show possible and that sponsors Squarespace we have heard Squarespace. Their web publishing platform as well as hosting platform what they allow you news. Is basically create a website. And -- and put it online. And they provide tools that make you able to tools around the looked. Like pretty much anything you want as well as all kinds of functionality and expect from an who have taken to on the web you can see all the different. And he can do on line from B Nvidia submitting videos. Having a -- to say things -- images of second feeds from different sites you might have online what this allows you do is use their features to drag and drop and Poland things change color palettes and all kinds of design features to really customize it make it look the way you want. It's really cool because it. Because all of the back encoding for you lets you control just the front end and be really control what you're doing without really being able to have the technical -- significant chops to -- the back and stuff and even better Squarespace is put together a special deal to get 10% off your entire order for the lifetime do you Squarespace TV go to the site Squarespace dot com. He's a promo code taxi that's -- you get 10% off reveal lifetime the -- Squarespace. To create your own site -- professional business site anything like that check it out Squarespace."

" Dot com. Well this week's freebie download pick. A free program but we find useful fun or incredibly interesting check out white box three. -- does -- digital pictures in seconds but corrected and it made for Apple especially during intimidated by traditional photo editing tools. Sometimes you need is the photo editing if you want to funds faster boot into touch up your vacation photos. If you shop walker yes a large check out like -- for."
