Last Friday HP announced that it would be making webOS available to the open source community. Hopefully, this will mean continued development of the platform by the open source community. For consumers feeling constrained by the current size limits in SSD technology, fear not! On Dec 6th Intel and Micron announced the creation of the first 128-gigabit NAND flash chip. Higher densities could mean larger SDD sizes and more storage in embedded devices like smartphones and tablet computers. PCMag reports that Google Chrome tops the list of most secure browsers. Although the Google sponsored benchmark used favored Chrome's architecture, Microsoft's internet Explorer was not far behind. PCper.com has a great Hybrid Storage Ruundup including a lengthy discussion on the various types of Hybrid Hard Drives available on the market.
We all love our tablet computers and smartphones, but when the winter chill is in the air trying to use a capacitive touchscreen while wearing gloves can be frustrating. That's where Etre gloves come in. Featuring the FIVEPOINT Gloves with their contactwoven® fingertips, the Touchy fingerless index and thumbs allow you to operate capacitive touch screens just as easily as ungloved hands.
Robert in Dublin, Ireland wants to know what the best keyboard is for MMORPG playing, like Bioware's upcoming SWTOR. Veronica's got a recommendation for him. Robert takes a look at Razer's Special Edition SWTOR gaming keyboard. Although it's not out yet, and looks to be mighty pricey at $250. Cheaper alternatives include Razer's Anansi, Steelseries Merc line and Logitech's offerings. As for mice, Veronica makes use of the Razer Naga.

@rocket3500 tweeted, wanting to know what the best way to incorporate all the Windows 7 updates into the install disc. Back in the pre-Vista and windows 7 days, you could do something called slipstreaming. Where you would manual copy files over to a folder both from the Windows install disc and the Service Pack updates and then burn out a new disc. Well Windows 7 doesn't have that exact feature anymore but you can, in a round about way, accomplish the same thing. Into Windows features a step-by-step guide on the process.
Mart in London was interested in creating an active backup of his C: drive in-case his hard drive decided to die again. Three options for Mart. He can clone his C: drive using Macrium Reflect a free disc imaging program, onto another hard drive. The downside is that you'll need to clone each time you make a change on your C: drive. 2nd option is to use 2 of the same kind of drive and RAID 1 them. This will have each drive mirror each other. The downside is you have to buy another of the drive of the similar type or risk wasting money on unused space. The final option would be to use Windows 7's built in Backup tool and selecting the system image backup setting. This will keep should regularly keep a backup of the C drive that you can use a Windows recovery disc with in case the drive dies again.
Nik in Queensland Australia wants to store his old video game consoles in a way that will allow them to be taken out and played again. The common household dangers to electronics are moisture and static electricity. Moisture, especially salty moisture, will cause the metals on a circuit board to corrode. Static electricity discharge can also damage sensitive ICs inside most computerized gear like game consoles. The best bet is to use a watertight plastic tub or container to combined with some silica gel to absorb excess moisture. If you live in a flood prone area keep them stored in an upper level of the house or building.
Mike in Sioux City, Iowa wrote in with his tip for taking indoor photos. He suggests using daylight balanced CFL bulbs (approx 5200 Kelvin), so that he doesn't have to adjust white balance between indoor and outdoor shooting. Another option is getting a White Balance Cap. These simple camera lens accessories are simply a lens fitted with a translucent white filter. You place the cap over your lens, aim at what you plan to shoot, white balance, remove cap and then shoot. Their easy to use and relatively inexpensive.
