Why Are My Digital Camera Pictures So Grainy In Low Light?

We took a pile of viewer questions using DimDim, the free browser based web conferencing service, including one from Psychosis. (DimDim is one of the sponsors of this episode!) Psychosis asked about grainy pictures on his digital camera and writes, "I've narrowed it down to the lighting - outdoors when it's sunny the shots are nice and clear, and indoors with a flash the shots are nice and clear. When it isn't lit well, the shots come out grainy. Why?" We talk CCD sensitivy, lens speed, size and gathering light in the video!

Defragmenting Portable Media Players, OS X, Windows...

Brian asked a question about defragmenting over DimDim: "Is defragmenting a hard drive or portable media player absolutely necessary? I've done it a few times on various PCs running various versions of Windows and it doesn't seem to do very much. Also, is it true that defragmenting Mac OS X isn't necessary?" We've got answers in the video!

New Android and Windows Mobile Phones From HTC!

Just when you forget that there's a Windows Mobile 6.5, Veronica finds a stack of WinMo and Android based phones from HTC that almost have us forgetting the iPhone! HTC had done an amazing job customizing WinMO with HTC Sense, and the custom interface rocks. The Android phones feel good and we're all totally lusting over HTC's HD2.

Odroid vs. Zune HD

Jeff wants us to compare the Android based ODROID with Microsoft's Zune. Both offer 720p video playback, but the ODROID has an HDMI port built in, while the Zune requires a pricy dock to bring HD video to your TV. One minor problem: The ODROID isn't available yet, it's just shipping to developers that want to bring media tools, games and other apps to the open hardware platform!
