Welcome to Tekzilla... hands on reviews of the latest tech, and how to make the most out of the gear you already own! Veronica Belmont and Patrick Norton are your hosts.
Meet the Zune HD! Its 3.3 inch OLED multitouch screen is gorgeous, it's got an HD Radio built in and it'll ouput 720p video over HDMI with the optional dock. Is visual search 20% faster? Dcide for yourself with MS Bing's Visual Search Galleries and Google's Fast Flip Meanwhile, Veronica's favorite personal finance toolMint.com was bought by Intuit... what's her take on the purchase?
If you lose your notebook, how much trouble are you in? Personal files? Credit Card numbers? Important work data? Kenneth wants to lock down his new notebook (in case it gets stolen, too. First thing... BACK UP YOUR DATA! Online backup tools like Mozy and Carbonite are great for frequent travelers.
Got your data backed up? Encrypting the drive is your best way to keep nasty folks from getting your data. Try TrueCrypt, it's solid, and it's free! Once your data is secured... then start considering things like CompuTrace's LoJack for Laptops!
HD Tune is all about your Hard Drive's health and condition. Run it and you'll a full breakdown of your hard drive's specs, features and model information, temperature readings, and SMART info. It even does basic benchmarking!
Sure the Intel Developer Forum is next week, but that doesn't mean that AMD or Intel haven't released any new products lately. Loyd Case joins us on the show to talk Intel Core i5 performance (Think Core i7 at Core 2 Duo pricing!), AMD's Eyefinity and DX 11 (It's just around the corner!) along with predictions on what we'll see Intel announce at IDF next week.
You can keep up with Loyd's writing at Improbable Insights!
Apple had the hype machine on when they launched the new iPod nano... but, really, how good is that built in video camera? Should you dump your old iPod touch or iPod shuffle? GDGT.com co-founder and gadget critic Ryan Block joins Veronica to talk about the new shiny from Apple, and Microsoft's latest PMP, the Zune HD.
Kevin's looking an application that can "scan my computer and identify duplicates while creating a list of all of the songs on the machine" and hopefully have the app reorganize the folder and file structure of all of his music and re-organize the collection by artist/album/track.
Veronica's choice for cleaning up a music collection (especially the sort of messy ones that come from lots and lots of downloading) is TuneUP. MediaMonkey is another great options... iEatBrainz is no longer in development, but MusicBrainz, has some interesting options!
